  1. If true (I don't doubt you at all - I just won't go look because I have muted or blocked all athletes from my timeline) and it continues, it will not bode well for the season. I can't speak for everyone but I have to believe this fan base has grown very tired. The lack of success in other men's sports will carry over to a shorter attention span than usual in basketball. There will be many that will simply tune it out completely. Gotta read the room a little better fellas.
  2. All of the points have been made that I saw as well, although I think Bryce was as big a problem as Verge for most of the game, especially in the 1st half. When the game starts and the pattern is set that Bryce is just going iso, the rest of the team disengages. That leads to lack of effort on other things, like rebounding. Obviously my opinion, but that's why we got beat - it started in the first couple of minutes and the team disengaged. I think the kid can play but I also think he got bailed out by a few pretty generous foul calls on drives to the rim - unlikely to get those calls in conference play. He has a long way to go and needs to let the game come to him. I'm still in shock that after he pulled that iso crap 3 or 4 times early, he didn't sit for a good long while. Same with Verge. Right or wrong, the expectation had been set - a talented team that was coming together and could start to move the program forward. This hero ball B.S. will drive me completely away from watching the game at all. I'm still as pissed off this morning as I was last night.
  3. Absolutely deserved to get beat. It's game 1 and I'm not going to pass too much judgment...yet. Tonight was all about 2 players focused on "getting theirs". I can't believe this is what Coach Hoiberg has envisioned but I saw mostly selfish, all about me garbage.
  4. You said that a lot nicer than I would have. Thank you.
  5. Way better - hard to do that when a certain freshman has shown no interest in giving up the ball once he gets it. (Dammit - broke my promise to keep my mouth shut)
  6. Welp - lots to say about that 1st half and none of it is good. Time to keep my mouth shut.
  7. I was thinking the same thing. Right or wrong, my expectation coming in was based largely on what I saw during the Colorado game. This isn't even close to the same team.
  8. Average is quite generous lol
  9. It was every bit of that - crossing my fingers that it was jitters.
  10. Coach can't be pleased with the start - no ball movement, a lot of 1:1 stuff.
  11. So much to look forward to as we tip off the season - it is going to be a helluva ride! #GBR
  12. Nebraska 89 Western Illinois 63 10 Non-Con Wins 18 Regular Season Wins
  13. I echo the comments of appreciation for you to keep putting this together each season - looking forward to a really fun year!
  14. I will definitely not be bashing this decision as I have been a fan of Trev from his playing days. Having watched his tenure at UNO from a distance, he has done amazing things for that campus and university. Agree or disagree with some of the decisions he made, many of them were extremely difficult and he did not shrink from that responsibility. Going through those challenges and learning/growing over 12 years, I firmly believe he will do a tremendous job for Nebraska athletics.
  15. Yep - played against them and had the honor of watching Bruce Chubick dunk right over the top of me.
  16. An honest question here because I don’t follow the NBA draft or the NBA at all: Is it a requirement that a player make a public declaration of entering the draft in order to receive this evaluation/feedback?
  17. I was completely underwhelmed when I read about the Woodson hire - then came the part about Matta being in the IU administration. Instantly turned to intrigued by how this might play out.
  18. In a perfect world, I wouldn’t care. I am unfortunately rather closely connected to a family full of Jayskers. It’s unavoidable for me.
  19. I am seriously having a physical reaction to that school wearing blue making the Sweet 16. Just makes me nauseated.
  20. I do find this one to be a very interesting topic. I can't speak for anyone else but for me, it's all about context. Year 1 was a disaster, largely because of the complete roster remake on short notice and Year 2 was the CoVid year. How does anyone truly make a judgment based on these 2 seasons? There is no question that we saw "some" improvement at the end of this season but it was mostly after the program shut down for nearly a month. I would hope that if any coach had been in similar circumstances, folks would take everything into account. I'm not happy at all with the results over the past 2 years. Let's hope 2021-22 is back to normal.
  21. I have said it before but it bears repeating - one of the most mentally weak teams I can recall. Came out of halftime and did exactly the opposite of what their head coach said they needed to do. Honestly, a pretty fitting end to the season. Let’s hope there’s as much (or more) mental growth in the offseason as physical improvement.
  22. Has this team completely abandoned wearing red?
  23. Oh what the hell... Nebraska 75 Penn State 68 1
  24. No disrespect or argument because I am not interested in doing so on a message board. In my opinion, Luka Garza, Cade Cunningham or anyone else not wearing a Nebraska uniform right now has absolutely nothing to do with what happened during the 40 minutes in Evanston. The fact is that yes, officiating stands out more at the end because of the time constraint but it matters throughout the entire 40 minutes. The last possession stands out at the end because of the time constraint but in the end it matters no more than turning it over 4 times in the first 5 or 6 possessions of the game. Officiating across the board is awful - everyone knows it - and it is going to be that way forever. The constant griping about it isn't going to change it. Play better - that's the only thing within the team's control.
