  1. Completely agree - for me, it goes even further to the players on the court. There aren't many that I have any type of connection with like I've had in the past. Not everyone fits this description, but for the most part it does feel like a group of misfits and mercenaries out for themselves without regard for the program at all. I guess it's to be expected given the recruiting profile in use. There is simply nothing good about this program, top to bottom. Ctrl+Alt+Del is the only option at this point. As much as I hate the idea of paying people to go away, it needs to happen soon and I would be in favor of doing so before the end of the season.
  2. Truly one of my all time favorite player names.
  3. Nearly impossible to only pick one response, but I went with #2 barely over #1 - the talent is way overrated, but it is good enough to have won a couple of conference games by now. The scheme/system is an utter and complete failure. Either FH just got lucky at ISU and he's always been overrated or FH's time in the NBA altered his approach/philosophy so much that he can't "unsee" what he's seen. Either way, he is not the guy and is about to stubborn his way right out of a job. And why not - even if the buyout gets reduced, he has set his family up for life. Dammit - I hate this so much. I would have bet a lot of money that this was going to work.
  4. I voted for the renegotiation/staff changes option and I'm also curious about how that might work for those much more "in the know". Does the contract language for the HC include anything that would allow him to protect his assistants? I mean, ultimately Trev is the boss. If Trev says that Fred will be required to hire new staff and Fred refuses, is that not grounds for terminating the contract without having to pay the buyout? I am certainly not a contract lawyer nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. But on the surface, would insubordination not be a cause for termination?
  5. I have been losing interest in college basketball as a whole for several years now. Always watch NU but rarely take in other games any more. This team is pushing me to quit watching altogether.
  6. There is so much wrong with that last 60 seconds. Yes, Bryce had 29 - he was also 6/17 and is not good enough to do it alone. This is a goddamn team game - coach like it! The last shot you draw up is for a guy who was 0-10 on the night? I am so far off the Fred Hoiberg bandwagon, I can’t even see it any longer. This group of players (it sure as hell ain’t a team) and this coaching staff are an absolute joke.
  7. Ball movement is a wonderful thing.
  8. I am suddenly ever-so-slightly more intrigued to watch this game tonight. Not a high bar to clear, but still.
  9. Wisconsin 78 Nebraska 65 11 Assists
  10. I’ve got nothing left in me as it relates to this Nebraska basketball team so I’m going to try to find the positive in our opponents. I’ve really come around on Matt Painter in the past couple of years. Never used to think much of him but I think I may have been wrong. Seems like a decent guy and a pretty damn good coach.
  11. As usual, just my opinion but I respectfully disagree with it being a red herring argument. There are lots of kids taking advantage of NIL money and there are programs positioning it in different ways. Some kids can do so and still be team-driven, some can't. It is very individual in nature, but the program & leadership play an integral role in how it affects the team environment. I don't have a problem with NIL & kids profiting as long as it's kept in the proper perspective and the team/program come first. Some programs may be making NIL way too important in the recruiting process and as a part of the program, thus leading kids down the path of ME>WE.
  12. Hate to say it, but there is likely a LOT more truth in this statement than most realize or are comfortable saying out loud.
  13. For most of my life, I've believed that even the worst basketball teams can have 1 or 2 nights where everything goes in, the other team is way off and a couple of wins magically appear. I personally lived that experience while playing on a 2-14 team in high school. Regardless of a couple of "close" losses earlier in the year, it is a distinct possibility this team may not win a single game in the conference. While unlikely, it is possible. There are no lay ups in B1G. Just unbelievable.
  14. Ha that last sequence before the timeout might be one of the worst I've seen yet. Andre jumps at the worst pump fake ever, then Bryce plays high school ole on the kick out. I am in a good mood so instead of getting upset, I've resorted to just laughing about it.
  15. Nebraska 70 Michigan State 81 3 players
