  1. 180s on KenPom? We'll be much higher in the preseason than last year's train wreck. We're 104 on T-Rank preseason, which is similar, a jump of maybe 30 points since McGowens' waiver. His addition is huge.
  2. I checked some old newspaper stories and Goode also mentioned ND's engineering school was better regarded than NU's. This quote was funny: And, of course, 3 NCs followed.
  3. Teddy should have been on, but I'm surprised Banton was. While he was a 4-star recruit a couple of years ago, he had a so-so freshman season at a mid-major and sat out last year. We know about him, but you wouldn't expect him to show up in an article like this. For example, the guy listed after Banton is a North Carolina transfer, and the guy after that is the only JC on the entire list and he's at Kansas. The other factor is that when they call you an "impact player," it doesn't mean just at your school, it's means gaining notice nationally. So pretty good to have two players picked on a team that's being forecast at 13th or 14th in the BIG.
  4. Hmmmm, I guess nobody's posted anything on this yet: https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/30121649/sources-ty-lue-finalizing-five-year-deal-coach-la-clippers
  5. The Red team won the karaoke running drill.
  6. Soooooo you're saying I'm a knock-down poster?
  7. As a comparison, the 50th best 3-pt shooting team last year (Quinnipiac) shot 35.7%. The year before, with the line closer, the 50th best (Nicholls St.) shot 37.0%. Last year, 4 teams shot better than 39%, 11 did it the year before. Moving back the line also lowered overall percentages. KenPom or somebody said it also seemed to affect mediocre shooters more than good ones, which makes sense. Math nerds will point out that lowering the percentage even one point is significant for 3 pt baskets in a philosophy of only taking 3s and layups. It moves the needle slightly in calculating the value of 10-foot jump shot vs. a 3 pointer. Villanova seems to be a trend setter in getting into the lane, jump stopping and using these short, high-percentage jump shots. If you can shoot 60% on them, then it's as efficient as a 40% 3 pt shot. Of course, an 18 foot jump shot is still a bad shot. Sorry if anybody gets a headache from this post.
  8. The dad was a top-notch high school player in an era when Nebraska kids didn't get nearly as much exposure as today. Found this Daily Nebraskan story about Danny not recruiting the state after the Strickland/Badget/Woolridge group: http://www.dailynebraskan.com/faced-with-recruiting-difficulties-nee-eyes-out-of-state-players/article_87866753-227a-5a37-bffa-52087cc3cce2.html
  9. Ah, sorry it went past me. I'm a lot dumber than you think that I thought that I thought I was once.
  10. Not crazy about that quote. We need a break to get back on track to being a contender. Soooooo if we can just get lucky, then we might be close to finishing second or third in the west?
  11. Went from about 175 to 170, mainly due to exercising outside in the heat, not to dietary discipline. Anybody find themselves drinking more? Not joking, I didn't drink more at one time, but there were more days during the week when I had a drink.
  12. Opening this thread before coffee is like a kick in the nuts.
  13. So S stands for Snubbed.
  14. Sixth man? Swingman? If he's good on defense, Stopper? On offense, Shooter? Or maybe Sixth man?
  15. This is pretty interesting analysis from Mike Sautter: https://omaha.com/sports/podcasts/prep-zone-report/watch-now-sam-mckewon-joins-the-prep-zone-report-to-discuss-recruiting-news-super-six/article_58c1b4d5-adc3-5bdd-be68-75e7b2eaec39.html?utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter_NEPrepZone Main reasons Hunter didn't include NU: (1) had a relationship with Miles staff and liked TM. Sautter thinks he would have come if Miles had stayed (sorry to restir that pot). Lewis is the reason UCLA made the list. He said UConn would have made the list but Kenya Hunter left for Indiana. I'd missed that. (2) Likes Fred, but the transfer culture doesn't appeal to him. Has to mix in as a freshman with 21-22 year olds and some character issues. Could refer to a combination of Cam and Teddy coming in, Sautter didn't specify.
  16. How fitting that a kid named Omaha is playing on a team with a kid who plays for an AAU team from Omaha (DeVries)
  17. I was for the Sixers. Switched to the Bucks since they're on right now and they're ahead. I am really, really, really sick of losing. And since I started typing, they're tied.
  18. I think the 17 straight losses make it hard to sell the program as "on the rise." The roster turnover also isn't a hopeful sign. If Hunter's a one-and-doner, then why would he go to a school that's rebuilding? I look at his recent indications of interest as an attempt to throw a bone our way when he really had no intention of going here. The staff can now focus on guys who are really interested.
  19. CBS Sports has 4 BIG teams in the top 11, 7 in the top 25. https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/college-basketball-rankings-michigan-state-slips-out-of-top-10-after-xavier-tillman-stays-in-the-nba-draft/
  20. Couldn't find a Saint Thomas thread, but he has offers from Virginia Tech, TCU and Mississippi State. https://omaha.com/sports/high-school/recruiting/plus/division-i-interest-in-millard-norths-saint-thomas-continues-to-ramp-up/article_8015cbee-5221-516c-b6d3-35c4a6c09786.html
  21. I agree that Teddy is the key. Not sure there's another player on the roster who can be among the conference's top 15 players. Kobe King might have, but ... Bart Torvik adds up the numbers and places us last in the BIG, the only team above 100. He also sees Thor averaging 13 ppg.
  22. I hope to feel differently tomorrow morning, but this is exactly the way I feel. How can you get excited about anything right now?
