Horrible approach at the plate tonight. Start of the ole Erstad slump? Guess we will find out this weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That should produce plenty of Krayton tears.

That's assuming that Webster doesn't beat out Glynn Watson for the point, but that makes a lot of sense. Yeah..that or us landing a 5th year transfer at guard. Hopefully Roby comes ready to play. We are going to need him -

Soooooooooooo I'm assuming Webster is our backup PG now? And Roby will be seeing plenty of time at 2G? -

You are assuming Miles will be able to fill out the roster which is a big assumption at this point. The above would be best case though. -
Whatever Tim's plans are.. They need to be fast

Creighton wanted both Roby and Morrow to visit. Morrow may have visited...I can't remember. Roby was going to visit on an unofficial but before doing so chose Nebraska. Now the two teams are after Chang. -

We recruit against them almost yearly now....and compete against them in terms of fanbase. Is it imperative we beat Creighton every year? No. Is it imperative we don't have a coach who goes winless against them? I'd say yes. If Miles wants to quiet some of the rumblings going on in the fanbase a win next December would be a good start. -
This team needs to win the Mich and Mich St series if they want a realistic chance at being in the at large discussion.

We have played 8 games that hurt our RPI regardless of a win or loss. Creighton has played 3.

I guess that would explain his .281 Big 12 winning percentage. -

We already are runner up...Miles is 0-4 against Creighton and what...0-13 against McDermott? And McDermott is not that great of a coach. With that said...it's the same song and dance with Creighton every offseason. I wouldn't necesarrily say they are "loaded." And them signing a guy who played 6 minutes a game at Syracuse doesn't really move the needle for me. By all accounts if you want to judge off recruiting rankings we are loaded as well. Miles needs to beat them next year but he needs to recruit a team that can win in the Big Ten. That's what's going to determine if we go dancing or not. -

Thanks.....assuming he is not at the top of our board at this point then. -
Our opponents winning percentage is far worse at this point...mostly thanks to teams like UNC, Purdue, and NW. That will even out with our remaning schedule and Creighton having to play Big East opponents.

Any idea if he left with an offer? -
If you think that stability of the coaching staff is an asset it's funny that you're not a fan of the assistant least likely to leave. Stability of solid assistant coaches. Again, I don't know enough to say Beckner was that guy...he simply wasn't here long enough and I never heard anything out of the program one way or the other in regards to him. Losing him I don't believe will have any impact on Miles future but making the right hire this time around may.

It may not be a huge deal as I didn't get any inkling Becker was tearing it up on the recruiting trail. With that said, the turnover every single year has to stop and it's Miles job to find the "right fit." The program continues to trend in the wrong direction...it would be nice to get some good recruiting news soon. I'm going to mark down this day as the first time I've seen you advocate for less coaching turnover I'm not a huge fan of Molinari.....Beckner really wasn't here long enough to know how solid of an assistant he was. Never really saw his name brought up on the recruiting trail and outside of an article or two in the OWH about how Becker was helping on the offensive end it was quiet. In the grand scheme of things Beckner leaving probably doesn't hurt at all...but it would be nice to find another assistant that will stick around 2-3 years and get it done on and off the court.

RPI sits at 80 now. This week will likely tell us if we will be in the at large discussion or not. Need to get a series win in Ann Arbor Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The team has not been playing great since the last Creighton win despite two weekend series wins. It was around this time last year the team started to really struggle and Erstad wasn't able to do anything about it. Hopefully we're not seeing the same thing going on.
-
If it isn't hitting with an Erstad team it's pitching....if it isn't pitching it's hitting. Going to need another big come back or the RPI number is going to take quite a hit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think he's going to have some strong teams coming after him. Only issue for us is he would have to sit out a year.
-
Sorry, that's not going to cut it anymore. It's essential Miles lands a solid center this year for our team's future and his future as the head coach of Nebraska. If he doesn't...things will likely stay status quo with us hovering around the bottom of the league. If we land Palmer...great, but it's not going to help us any this upcoming year. If we could land someone like Palmer and a big to help next year that would be ideal. Striking out again on landing a big and carrying over a scholorship(again)..will not be a good look. It's time to get it done. Getting Palmer and getting a big man are not mutually exclusive things. You can't just recruit to help you for next year. Have to look at the future and fill roster spots with good basketball players, regardless of need sometimes. We can recruit Palmer and still be trying our damnedest to get a big. Both things can happen. Obviously this would be ideal....assuming that big is someone who can immediately provide good minutes next year.

Just going off memory...but Mich seemed a bit longer than us. With that said, Michigan finished last in FG % defense in conference play. I didn't watch enough Wolverine games to say that was due to their lack of size but I'm guessing it didn't help. We were 10th by the way...but 13th in three point FG defense. Mich actually did a solid job defending the three but really struggled defending inside the three point line.

Where did you get those numbers? I'm showing he was 14.7 PTS 7.5 boards a game. 53-140 from three point land...not big for a big man. I'm not sure he's the type of big man we really need but he looks skilled on the offensive end. -
Can "small ball" be successful on the Big Ten? Offensively...I think we probably could be. Defensively? Unlikely. That was very evident last year. Due to our lack of size we had to constantly double down...leaving wide open three point shots. That's not going to work. We need a rim protector in the worst way.
