I would say UNO is a must win just based on their RPI. Penn St has actually proven to be better than many thought they would be. 10-8 in the Big Ten right now but have struggled on the road sitting at 8-11. The key for them was they swept the bad teams(Purdue/NW)...but have lost every other series. Decent arms but struggle with the bat and mediocre defense. At home, I think we can sweep them but just winning the series will suffice. A sweep would be big in terms of staying in the hunt for the Big 10 regular season title. It could come down to the last series vs Indiana who is currently in first place. Weird year in the Big 10 in that it's a log jam. We are two games out of first and two games out of 9th.

Big series win. Coming into today Boyds World had us needing to go 7-2 the remainder of the way to get into the top 45 RPI. After today...that makes is 6 out 8 which is doable IMO considering all 8 will be Husker home games.

AW-III IS BACK FOR HIS SENIOR SEASON (SOMEWHERE)
huskerbaseball13 replied to AuroranHusker's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I really don't think anybody knows outside of Andrew and a select few. One minute you hear he's coming back, the next you hear his family wants him in Europe. Going to be a long couple weeks. -

Wonder and cry at the thought of him leaving us. My finger nails have taken a beating the past few days. -
Huskers up 3-0 in the third against Mich St ACE...just scored on an error by the pitcher. Easy play...he just booted it...luck my be turning to our side. Really need this W.

I hope you're right. With how the roster currently stands I don't think we can afford to lose him for next year. Outside of Andrew and the coaching staff I doubt anyone really has any concrete information as if he really was set on leaving we would know by now and he would likely have inked with an agent. -

Like if White decides to play professionally it's mainly because he hates Miles and not because he believes he can make it onto a NBA squad or somewhere in the pros? Please tell me why you believe he makes an NBA squad. Yes, especially when my source said he is tired of the sideshow and just wants to play ball. Keep in mind when I say that, it is know who AW is as a person. How many guys leave early to go play in Europe? Watson in Omaha is a better player than White, it's NBA or college not Professional anywhere over college. What's the lifestyle of a Euro ball player like... I've heard mixed things on it. The reality will be we lost an good college player, on top of all the coaching changes and challenged in a time period of unquestionable support for the program from the school and fans. I will still support the program but my outlook of where I see Tim Miles getting this program before he leaves. That's debatable and I'm not really sure how you can even compare the two considering they are two entirely different players. Also, I would argue White is a better NBA "like" prospect as not many NBA teams are in the market for a 5'9 PG that can't shoot. On the other hand...a 6'7 forward who can shoot and rebound will always get a look from NBA teams. It doesn't have to be NBA or College...in fact, I would not blame White at all if he decided to go overseas and start earning a nice paycheck. You only have a certain amount of years before you hang up the sneakers. The fact that we will be in bad position if White bolts is not on him but Miles roster management. -

+1 Transfer who has to sit out next year. Leaving us with 9 players on scholarship who are eligible to play. That's assuming no commits come in before Andrew would announce his decision to leave. Hopefully, he decides to stay...if not, things will get interesting. -

Gopher Reggie Lynch arrested today for sexual assault. So that will likely open a scholarship for Minnesota and they will be needing a Center. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

That's some serious Kool Aid. In no way would this be a good thing for Nebrasketball. If White turns pro we go from having a guy who averaged close to 17 points a game last year to having to rely on a true freshman...assuming we don't find anyone better than Roby. Does having three scholarships open in May sound like a good idea for a coach who has yet to fill out the roster during his time here? Mind you...we still don't have that big man. Hopefully that is Jordy but who knows. Without Andrew White next year I don't see how we compete for an at large bid. -

It does not mean much if you don't win with said players. I don't think this means White is gone for sure...but without White, Miles is looking at another year of .500 ball or worse. -
Big start to the weekend. Hopefully that's the MSU defense we see the next two days. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Even more concerning is things appear to be pretty slow on the recruiting front.....we still have two scholarships open and unless the coaches are playing it really close to the vest...we don't have a backup plan for Jordy and he's anything but a guarentee. -

It would be a pretty large blow if White opts to go pro. -
Miles flying with the Blue Angels today
huskerbaseball13 replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Why can't you? I have a to-scale picture of Jordy watching the Blue Angels flying over the capital This image (to scale) would make Jordy approximately 360' tall. YES! If Miles can't land a big man the normal way it appears he may be going the chemtrail route. Hopefully it pays off. -

Wow, such profound wisdom. What ever would us rednecks do without having an obsessed recruiting guru grace us with his presence? -
Win 8 out of the next 11. Right now that's what Boyds Worlds says we need to do to get into the top 45 of the RPI. We have not won a weekend series vs a RPI top 50 team since Irvine visited in March of 2014 so a weekend series win vs the Spartans would be nice.

I hope your source is Jordy. Sounds like the coaches did a great job selling him on the visit. I'll be disappointed if we don't land him but have to think we're in a great spot. -

Sweep would have been huge but that was a much needed series win. Confidence booster and puts us on good position to make the conference tournament. RPI up to 72 after today's games. Not totally out of at large contention but we need to get hot.
-
Yes...big to have him back. He has arguably been our most consistent pitcher. Feel good about game 3 with Jake on the mound.

Big inning in the 5th. Huskers up 5-0. Doubleheader today...hopefully that means we eat up some of their pen in this game. Really need both games today Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Huskers lose 3-2....wheels come off in the last inning. Solid performance from Burkamper...no clutch hitting and all of Rutgers runs thanks to errors. Things are starting to get pretty dicey in making the Big Ten tournament. We still have 11 Big Ten games to go....but if we fail to make the Big Ten tournament I hope Eichorst and Erstad have a long long talk....like Erstad doing what is best for Nebraska and maybe moving on.
