A new Chancellor with a football background is imperative. Don't be shocked if Harvey's 6/30/16 gets moved up. Once this group swirls down the drain, we need to hire a competent AD, who hopefully will hire a football coach. Until that all happens, it will be brutal. Empty seats galore next week. We will be over a 20 point dog at home. And next year the sellout streak ends. Nice job Harvey, nice job Ginger.

We're ranked 39 right now, and haven't gotten a commitment in 6 weeks. Good luck with that.

Nebraska is the bomb. #neverleavinguntilIturntodust

Now you just sound like a GEICO commercial, Norm! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3L9OP2CLFM Good commercial, but I'm pretty confident that Norm would believe that Geico sucks.

When I posted the above, there were 47 total votes and 11 of them were for 2 years or more to make the dance. Now, there are 48 votes and 12 for 2 years or more. After what I saw tonight, I'm more confident than ever. And someone who waited until now to cast a vote was obviously unmoved by the newbies' performance at the scrimmage tonight. Personally, I was blown away. Norm, you do it every year. I'm sobered by CWG's posts on tonight. If his expectations are modest....well, that is a vote for patience.

Hate the ball advancement after a time out. NBA crap.

Let the height speculation based on the photo begin!

On my pessimism/realism scale, I went way toward optimism in predicting just a year away. And didn't even require the post player. But don't get used to it.

It won't be long now, Normie.

This. I'm hoping worst case if Riley doesn't work out in the end that they are able to kick tail on the recruiting trail an upgrade our talent level for the next coach That would be shocking. They didn't recruit for crap to OSU. They would have been fired at the end of the year. That team is 2-5, and we know Anderson can coach, so clearly the cupboard was bare. Eichorst screwed the pooch. No doubt the staff/Riley was on the downturn at Oregon State....which should be a cause for concern. Perhaps if we hired him in 2008 the hire would have looked much better on paper. Riley had knack of finding lower rated players and developing them at OSU....I think partly their recruiting numbers at OSU has to do with the program they were coaching at. My hope is Riley him finding those talented lower rated players for NU like he did at OSU but also mix in some higher ranked players that may be more ready to contribute right away. And we need players who can contribute ASAP in the worst way as we are not 3-5 bad...but our talent in some key spots is really lacking. We do indeed have talent gaps and lack of depth at spots, most notably with pass rushing DEs and linebackers. We don't have great talent, but with our schedule and the weak west division, we have 7-9 win talent. And we have enough athletes to not have some of the worst special team coverage and return teams in the country. Read may be Riley's worst hire, although Stewart and Banker stand out as well. Banker at least is a good guy; the same can't be said for Read. I too hope some miracle happens with this tired old unsuccessful staff, but there is little to nothing to objectively hold onto to provide that hope. We will dip to lows unprecedented in the modern era for this year and next, at a minimum. Then we have to hope that a then 64 year old will turn it around. When he has shown that he he is adverse to doing anything different than he has done for many years without much success--brought virtually everyone from Oregon State to fill every position from defensive coordinator to recruiting interns. Doubled down yesterday on saying "we've always only played the starters at Oline unless there is an injury" and they are sticking with it. Helluva nice guy, but I can't see the coaching or recruiting parts getting it done here.

Last year's roster lists Shavon at 221 lbs. This years at 225 lbs Things that make you go hmmmm. Classic Miles

Damn Dimes, I just made most of that up. Didn't know there was a way to get busted!

Right there with you Big Guy! We've come a long ways since the days of punching our $20 ticket at the gate! Yep, our first year with a season ticket was '88-89, although we went to most of the games in '87-'88. Just sat in the bleachers behind the team. Man could one yell at the refs at close distance in those days! Had 3 or 4 seasons we gave them up when the kids were playing sports and couldn't get to many, but then got back in the fold.

Red 1 garage. $5.00 a game. Great deal.

First show of the year from Buffalo Wings and Rings. I was driving and couldn't take notes, and my memory isn't what it used to be, so I will miss a bunch. Miles is such a story teller. Stories are good, but they do limit the actual basketball talk. First story was Beckner's fender bender with Miles riding shotgun. Just abused Beckner. Then the Gabrielle Union story in the airport. Told a good story about Dwayne Wade asking the team how many rings he had. Many of them knew he had 3. Then he asked if he ever led the league in scoring. No one knew for sure. Point being, nothing matters other than winning, and team is more important than any individual honors. Team goal is to find a way to scratch and claw to the NCAA tournament. We owe that to the seniors every year. He wouldn't like to play for a guy who said "Let's go guys, let's get to .500". The approach is to schedule enough to get a resume, and develop the tough-mindedness that it takes, and play defense and rebound and play the way we want to get there. Said that rebounding and interior defense were his biggest concerns with this team. Likes his perimeter defense with Benny, Tai, Shavon and White (Said some days White play good enough D, some days he doesn't). Said Tai is strong and defends well and will see lots of minutes (glad we didn't run him off like some wanted). Didn't say much about Morrow (called him "Murrow", like Edward R., Murrow) and nothing about Watson. Really was glowing about Shavon. Said some scouts have been in to watch him practice. Said he has lost 10-15 pounds and is more mobile. Expects him to have a great year. I mean, he really pumped up Shavon. You would have thought 49r took over the mike. Said Benny was shooting it well in practice, made it sound like he is more of a true point guard than in the past, playing the best ball of his career. Said McVeigh is not the quickest guy (usually translated as "he is slow"), but is a smart player and he buys into everything about being a Husker. Expects him to be a good player with improvements in strength and agility over time. Could tell Miles likes him and thinks he's a coach-able guy. Didn't say anything about Jacobson's injury other than the obvious "he has been dealing with a foot problem". Only thing about Hammond was "he's going to have to make some plays"; I think he was talking about interior defense. Said we would be small all year, and recited his year where they finished 4th at CSU with the tallest guy being 6'6". New Mexico, UNLV and San Diego State were no slouches to finish behind. But said the difference was in that league you could recover against the lower division teams. Not in this league' no easy wins. Mentioned the Top 15 classes from Penn State Minny, and someone else. Said they would go down some as teams get late signings and move ahead of them, but the recruiters are beasts in this league. Said the star system is getting better and more reliable in evaluation recruits, as there is more opportunity to evaluate the talent against better competition. Greg asked him if coaching in the league has been even more fun than he expected, and Coach turned it straight to coaching at Nebraska has been better than he could have ever expected. Loves the fan support and resources he has. Only regret is not having an abundance of playmakers residing here. Said a coach can develop guys, but when times are tough in a game you need studs who can make plays. Finally, he talked about Terran getting signed by the Pacers and then released, so he could sign with Ft. Wayne of the developmental league. Thought that was clearly the best move for Terran. Says the general managers he has talked to like Terran and think he will eventually make a roster. Thinks he could get a couple of 10 day call ups this year. Probably missed some things but this will have to do.

Got 'em. 22nd year of season tickets. Always good to see tickets in hand.

Quite simply Jimmy, You, nor I, nor anyone other than family and coaches are entitled to know. It serves no purpose for us to know, other than those who can't "not know everything" getting their feeling of entitlement bruised. That seems to be taking a bit farther than necessary

Sayin' it now: No confidence we come back, down 6 in the 4th Q
HB replied to Norm Peterson's topic in Other Huskers Sports
Do you think Barry Alvarez might help out by retiring any time soon for Eichy to move north, in addition to Harv stepping aside? That would be nice, but I don't see it happening. But the new Chancellor, with inputs from certain Regents, will insure that SE never hires another coach at Nebraska. -
Funny, I got the exact reverse!

Got mine on Saturday.

June 30 cannot come soon enough. -
If Bobbie Kelsey didn't have bad luck, she would have no luck at all.

Great stuff, Kansas. Keep it coming.

Husker pre-season scrimmage, pick a winner
HB replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Every year, our fans have recruits more ready to play than the recruits are ready to play. Hell, the only question now is whether Patrick O'Brien starts immediately or shortly after arrival, not whether he ends up like Harrison Beck or Peyton Manning.
