As more comes out you have to wonder if this blows up into a much bigger problem. Do more players/coaches get in the middle of this?
-
With all that they are dealing with it was nice to see so many players step up. Nice to see Shelley give a big hug to Weidner after she left the floor for the last time. Sometimes this can pull a team a part. Looks like it brought them more together.
-
So anyone know when her show normally airs?
-
For us to get into the top tier of the conference we need to bring the same intensity that we had against Indiana when we play PSU or the like. Players and coaches talk about learning from losses but we still make some of the same mistakes. For us to move up those things need to be cleaned up. We are a better team than PSU and we should beat them at home or away. I feel like we take one more loss before the B1G tourney. Hope I am wrong.
-
I think what is really disappointing is the fact we gave up so many points so quickly. Amy likes to save timeouts for end of games when it's tight and you need to draw up something but in this case she should have called early only once it was clear they was on a roll and we know how quick it turned and by the time she did it was too late. This loss is not just on the staff but we are not ready to be a top 4 (conference) caliber team. Will we finish the rest of the way 3-0? I am not sure at this point.

I do think Brown had some in her ear while at NE. We do not know the dynamic between her, her teammates, and coaches. Just the one comment from Sam about the team from the shortened season and I don't she named Brown but it felt like a reference to her. Moving on...I think Weidner will continue the rest of this year to come off the bench. I just noticed last night's game and maybe a couple more when we was up she was installed to help with the press late in games. We have four games left before the B1G tourney and if we play the way we are capable of we can add four more wins.

In case anyone was interested, Iowa lost to Maryland last night. While Clark was getting attention for her triple doubles she did have 10 turnovers last night. I would not mind seeing her add to that stat line a bit more. -
Tension was pretty high for both teams in the 4th. Indiana has some players who have a chip on their shoulder. Nice to see our girls keep their cool but also not back down. Starting to notice a trend with Amy Williams. Scoggin is sitting more and Weidner who is a better defender and ball handler is on the court with Jaz and Sam in the closing minutes of the 4th. With teams pressing us we need her skill set to manage it better.
-
Also nice to see Jaz be a bit more selfish and call her own number. We need her point production. Some of her passing choices have turned into a turnover when she forces it too much.
-
A little concerning Scoggin seems to be dipping in the three point pct., now at 41%. Outside of PSU and the Maryland games she is 1-4, 0-3, 1-6, and 1-7. We need her down the stretch to be a threat.
-
I agree Sam is playing at less than 100%. I think we have the team to beat them but outside of the 1st quarter we still look like a tired team. Too many turnovers and way too many missed in close baskets. Plus when you are tired the first thing to go is your legs and that leads to poor shooting and poor defense. Would like to see more time for both Kendall's. Wasn't the thought 9-9 or 10-8 would be a good finish in conference back when this season started? That sure looks like where we are headed. I tend to agree with Cazzie that we may not have tools to beat Indiana. Really think it has more to do with our staff than the players. Was texting during the game last night and my brother who watches them from time to time made the comment to me. He said Williams is not a top 4 conference coach. She may coach a team into a top 4 spot but most times feel like we will be someplace in the 5-8 range.
-
Hopefully a few more days between games and we have a better showing tonight. I think if we can play to our potential we can come out with a "W".
-
Phelia was not available when we played them this year. I believe she was out due to covid. She will be a tough guard for the next three years for this conference.
-
Thought we looked like a team that has played quite a few games with little rest. Good thing is 4 of our 5 starters played no more than 25 minutes yesterday. We really need someone who can make a mid range jumper. Coley as times appears to be able to hit them but she plays so little in her current position. You live by the three, you die by the three. Also too many turn overs by our point guards. As was pointed our earlier this was decided in the first half. Hopefully with a little more rest we have a better game against OSU.
-
Watched most of the IA/Mich game. Brown turned her ankle late in their last game hence the walking boot. Do not think it was as bad as Ashley O of Maryland. Will see how long she sits. I agree nice to see Iowa lose last night. I also thought Bluder should have been given a "T" for the 4th quarter push rant with the refs. She was in the wrong place when the ref signaled the out of bounds call and get hit a little but she went off and should have whistled. Clark's 4th quarter almost did Mich in. Down by 25 at one point and got as close as 5 before the final margin of 8.

Larry will be doing his third game in 8 days.
-
Well we know Cayton is shown as a "graduate" while the rest are still are classified the same as last year. How many seniors (listed as juniors) will be coming back as super seniors? Have any declared they are coming back?
-
Scoggin is currently a 44% 3 point shooter. Good for third in the conference currently. She is behind Mikesell of OSU at just short of 48.5% and Nolan of Michigan at almost 48%. She is there for her spot up threes which can be a dagger in today's game.

Michigan and Indiana tonight at 6 on ESPN2. -
IMHO Weidner gained a lot from the start of the Iowa game when Jaz was out due to covid. Yes she will not be starting baring some type of injury to Jaz but we should look at replacing a starter when they are not performing to the level they could be. Issie coming off the bench is partly due to her play and the play of Markowski. Issie looked better yesterday so maybe taking a little pressure off her will help. Allison should have had more time in the second half. She is good on defense mostly and may have helped with the four quarter when it got interesting. I think we lost some of what was working and it could have gotten real interesting. We need to ride our players when they are in a groove a little more. Amy sometimes is a little too quick to pull them or a little too slow to go back to them.

Hord is between Nicklin, and Madi.

Not every great player can be a great coach. Also sometimes it does not work out to come back and coach for the same school you played for. -
With the talk about Britt Prince in her thread and then we have girls who are 18 hours by flight away from home. Glad to have all three as Huskers!

So will we hear 3 anthems tomorrow?
