Per Tweet posted in the On3 forum. Montana State WBB transfer Darian White (5-6 SR point guard, Boise, ID) has announced her commitment to Nebraska; 2022-23 stats: 14.3 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 3.6 APG; 3x first-team All–Big Sky One year of eligibility left (Covid year).

Assibey spent the past three years as an assistant coach for the Gators. In his tenure, he helped Florida to three consecutive postseason berths. Assibey joined the Gators after spending four years as an assistant coach at Montana State, where he helped the Bobcats to a pair of Big Sky regular-season titles and one conference tournament crown. In addition to his assistant coaching duties, Assibey served as the recruiting coordinator for Montana State, which produced nine all-conference honorees including a pair of Big Sky players of the year. Born and raised in Ghana, West Africa, Assibey grew up in Downey, California, before earning four letters in men’s basketball while also competing in track and field (long jump, triple jump, 4×100-meter relay) at William Penn in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Assibey earned a bachelor’s degree in sports administration and strength and conditioning in 2005. Assibey then completed his master’s degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University in 2013, while being an assistant coach at Merrimack College. Assibey’s been an assistant coach for over 15 years and will take over for former assistant coach, Tom Goehle, who retired from his position last week.

I think it is reasonable to assume Dillard and Brady are gone. But, unless something is shared, who knows. The lack of mention is almost comical at this point.

Is assistant coach Tom G. moving on or retiring?

It would also be appreciated if there were some mention of Brady or Dillard. I still wonder why they didn't, at least, sit on the bench and support the team, during home games. -

Jessica signed her LOI today. April 12th is the opening day of the spring signing period. -
Stumbled onto this site. Might be of interest. https://justwomenssports.com/reads/ncaa-basketball-transfer-portal-tracker-2023/

Wishful thinking..... Maggie Mendelson decides to play basketball full time ....... That would elevate the scenery considerably.

Not sure about Fred and Connie. In my original post, I asked for opinions on why we don't see more WBB info. Do you have an opinion to share? My first suggestion was regarding media. Huskerpapa gave an excellent response.
-
That makes a lot of sense. On3 covers the WBB games, but very little (if any) recruiting. Not sure what other subscription forums cover.
-
I agree with your take. She doesn't seem to go out of her way, to nurture a relationship with the average fan. And yet, we usually have a top 20 attendance average. We love our Huskers.

Regarding portal activity, below is the type information shared by our Husker MBB program for the month of April. This type info shows up in the OWH and LJS frequently. It also appears at Husker websites. Why do we seldom see similar information from the WBB program? Thoughts; Program isn't being covered by media? Information isn't being shared by WBB staff, different approach to recruiting? There is no information to share? Something else? Your thoughts? Not a Staley fan either. Couldn't believe I was pulling for Iowa. I do think the South Carolina players represented themselves well. LSU and their coach, not so much. Hate to say it, but I will be pulling for the the Hawks two games in a row. Who'da thunk it.
-
Agree, recruiting and player development are huge. I'm not sure these are strong attributes of this staff. I hope they prove me wrong.
-
We could also grab portal players with a single year of eligibility left. Anything is better than not using a scholarship. There is a reason loss of scholarships, is the NCAA 'go to' for rule infractions.
-
We will have Jaz, Weidner, Hake, Krull, and newbie Nisley at guard. I still like both Kendall's manning the '3' position. Krull could even switch between guard and small forward. Jaz returning, makes this group look promising.
-
I wish we would get back to a preferred walk-on or two on the roster. If they work out (like a Whitney Brown), an open scholarship could be used, on a semester basis. Allows a little flexibility with the roster. Sure beats this year, two schollies sitting idle.

Just read Jacy Sheldon will be back for a 5th year at Ohio State.

They have an excellent class coming in. I copied a segment from an article (below). Not sure if this had anything to do with some of the transfers? The new additions are forward Jalynn Bristow from Wichita Falls, Texas, forward Addy Brown from Derby, Kansas, center Audi Crooks from Algona, guard Arianna Jackson from Des Moines and guard Kelsey Joens from Iowa City. This quintet ranks at No. 10 in the 2023 ESPNw/HoopGurlz Recruiting Rankings at the time of publication.

Iowa State is up to 5 players entering the portal. I grabbed the following info from the Des Moines Register. Iowa State women's basketball players, including Lexi Donarski, have entered the transfer portal Fritz became the fifth known player to enter the transfer portal since Iowa State’s sudden loss to Toledo in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. She joined guards Maggie Espenmiller-McGraw and Lexi Donarski along with post players Morgan Kane and Maggie Vick.

Agree 100%. She and the Kendall's would give us a solid core at the '3' position. I still have concern for the '4 - 5' positions. We have Markowski, Stewart, part-time Mendelson, and incoming Potts and Petrie. We could really use one more experienced 'big' from the portal, to shore things up.
-
Adds are gone. Thanks Bugeaters1.

Silly question..... What are all the "AIRLINE BOOKING" threads that popped up in the forum? I'm not going to click on it.
-
I agree, Ann Prince would be perfect for one of the new assistant positions. Amy is very loyal. Maybe she could move a current assistant to the other 'on campus' position, and replace them with someone that is an excellent recruiter, with a reputation of developing players. Too much to ask?

She's a good one. When she picked up those two ticky tack early fouls against Toledo, it affected the entire game (IMO). Terrrible officiating (nothing new). I hope we are after her. She'd bring a toughness we need.
