  1. oh, and those highliter yellow shoes are burning holes in my retinas.
  2. evening all. lots of up and down. that could be bad.
  3. I agree that's probably true. Hopefully they'll toss him into the game when it's not crucial so he can start getting used to playing with contact, assuming that this is the issue. Can't see how sitting him on the bench would cure this particular problem, tho. Most overseas players have this difficulty, and most play through it.
  4. I thought going in that the D on Davis would be key to the game. Ubel did well, but everyone really kicked in pretty good. Tulane was more athletic and faster than us, so they should have been able to drive fairly easy. And for a good chunk of the second half, they did. I think they lost the game by going away from that in the last 8-9 minutes. If they keep pounding towards the rim, i think they win.
  5. solid card. i saw the game a lot like this. 2 underdog wins already out of the first four is pretty huge. let's hope the smoke and mirrors tour continues getting good results. really happy with the senior leadership on this team. this is the best chemistry NUs had since the Mites. That's probably the big difference maker right now.
  6. hahaha! take every one of these. nice ref-ing those last few minutes, btw. sheesh. 4 down, 6 or more to go! heh heh.
  7. sweet. nice little charge back here. gbr!!!!!
  8. they're noticeably more quick and athletic than we are. happy it's close so far. need to hit some outside shots and those ft's though.
  9. hey all. tight game so far.
  10. Although I still don't know what the phrase "an issue with his physicality" actually means, and Miles doesn't make it clear. He's healthy, but....Honestly, I think that blurb raised more questions than it answered.
  11. who's getting the Davis assignment? Ubel? With Rivers subbing? That's the key matchup to me. I still like Tulane in this game, but not by much. A couple of good offensive outing by a couple of our guys and we could swipe this one. thanks for the write up, dimes!
  12. no doubt. i feel like i'm letting you guys down somehow. tough to find hoops hot in so few kbs.
  13. Because PSU needed more bad news in sports. Hoping TF gets his mojo back eventually. terrific player.
  14. wow. if we had two more, and the conference had their pick, given their number one goal of adding tv sets first, academics second, i'd think Notre Dame (still) and then UNC. North Carolina's been coveted for some time in order to expand the conference presence south into a massive collegiate market and recruiting hotbed. North Carolina won't leave ACC unless FL St bails. But that's also a strong possibility right now. they're shopping.
  15. gotta love the brother's optimism, certainly. now to return to our regularly scheduled reality...
  16. I think in the longer term this will happen. Non-revenue sports are going to clobber ADs with lower budgets with this kind of insane travel. But I also think universities' days of being "revenue maximizers" to make up for stingy and shortsighted legislatures (at least on hte public end) are also about numbered. In environmental terms, this kind of model is unsustainable for too many schools.
  17. ha! quoted for some very serious truth right here.
  18. the dark side of television domination of sports. this is about tv sets first and maybe a little recruiting exposure second. it'll get worse, unless and until universities return to their traditional missions.
  19. 140s last year. Nolan had us at #148. We were pretty low. I don't see any way we can match even that this year. We were exceedingly fortunate last night, which is awesome. But that won't happen a lot this season.
  20. Now I can go back to predicting games just like I used to! Thanks, offense! NU-64 UNO-54
  21. game was a late start, too, and the blue hairs are pretty strict about sleep schedules. "Ten Means Ten!" and all that. definitely hoping to fill it up for Webster's visit and try to keep it loud.
  22. I'm pretty happy with this win. If we played this tomorrow night, we lose. I think that nutty schedule for Valpo gave us just enough of an advantage to eek this out. They did not look sharp at all. But for a team like ours, every ambush matters, and I'm thrilled we took advantage of our first one.
  23. not pretty, but a nice win ! miles' first upset. and it was an upset. yay!
