  1. 80 points. we clearly need a mariachi band before every game.
  2. monitor catifght between matt and kent is turning out to be interesting.
  3. hey scott, what's the attendance there?
  4. well, ten point lead not too bad. going to have to play a lot cleaner in the second half to win this. and need the bigs to get involved in scoring.
  5. 2d half is going to be an adventure.
  6. giving too many fouls. will hurt when we cool from range.
  7. woo hoo! we're on a 120 point pace! heh heh
  8. good lord, can we miss? this is like wake
  9. i love that show. even better, the you tube montage had a link to the entire secret world show, so maybe hoops is taking a backseat tonight... paula cole in her prime. meow.
  10. peter gabriel live! how exotic! heh heh.
  11. I won't worry about UTEP unless we actually beat Central Michigan first. That game might be tougher than people think.
  12. this could be a tough game on a neutral court. I like us, though. Barely. NU-62 CMU-57
  13. wow, that many people dropped out for the season already? rats.
  14. it's too early to take realtime seriously. i think last year we were number 13 after three games or something. really, any rpi measure not taking into account spreads can be really off early.
  15. A rare moment when I completely disagree with Dave on a report card. This might be, what, three times in 4 years? Sorry, mon frere. Jacksonville St. might not be good in the scheme of things, but neither are we. And I think we have to grade these things relative to the team we actually have. And in this case, I don't think this card does. The Cocks (I still giggle, even after all these years) had better athletes, and comparable talent. They were just smaller, but athleticism can often make up for size. We're going to have some dogfights against teams in the top 300 rpi. We had one tonight. In many respects, we're playing a team with high end SWAC talent. A little better than that, but not a whole lot. And nearly zero depth. I think our defense was pretty good most of the game, although JSU doing the stand around thing helped out a bit there. Towards the end, our guys really were just coasting to the clock, and that is fine to pin on the coach. I thought he should've taken more time outs during that stretch--or any time outs--but as he said in his presser, he wanted to teach them something about closing out. It almost cost us. But by and large, the matchups were solid and he used Shavon well as the player they left loose. We've played better this year, true. But we've played worse. I thought it was a C game for the Huskers. We have to get used to some of this. We're not very good.
  16. yay! a winnable game! I like these.
  17. benny'll be fine. at a minimum a serviceable backup, which is valuable. he has god quickness, great hands, solid judgment and good vision. those are all big at the position. btw, given how few shooters our team has, he'll look worse than he should given that his options for distribution will be tighter than many teams. it's a lot harder to run the offense when you only have maybe two viable passing lanes on any given possession and your opponent knows it. what I like about him is hi on-ball quickness. He could actually develop into a nice ball thief with work.
  18. and we'll drop some more, even if we win the next few games thanks to the level of competition. so we start conference probably right around the original 216 mark we started with. eek!
  19. Andre did pretty well early on. You can't ask a guy to give you more than his talent and skill allows, but when he's playing his best, it's not bad. The fouls will always be a problem for him mostly because of his size and the fact that a quick big can get Andre to block or hack. But we need the most minutes out of him we can get. I don't think this is an issue of "getting it", it's an issue of him playing to his capability more consistently and finding survival mechanisms to avoid constant foul trouble. But that isn't coming overnight.
  20. Yikes. It was pretty bad. Looked like serious ankle sprain. Knee also might have gotten dinged up.
  21. 60-38. Ugh. We're going to have hell scoring points against good teams.
  22. flushing a roster after a coaching change can do this to a program. it's going to take a few years to recover from this. and that's if Miles is pretty good (which I think he is).
  23. they're far better in the paint, but andre was playing good D early, but it came at the price of a lot of fouls. if any of our two bigs gets in early foul trouble, this is going to be the outcome. ubel has to lay off because he needs to stay in the game. it's pretty much a catch-22 with us.
