  1. Not sure he really surpassed expectations last year.In my opinion they did. Taking in to account 6 newcomers who didn't play D1 Basketball the previous year, the lack of size to defend the post, and Shavons injury I was pleased with the season. If Shavon doesn't go down we for sure win one more regular season game and potentially up to 3 more. That would have put us at 15 to 17 regular season wins plus however we did in the tourney (since our draw would have been different with a better record). But like I said that is just my opinion. I like Miles....but the lack of size is/was on him so I don't consider that as an excuse in my expectations. Could also make a case for the amount of newcomers too.And I don't think Shavon's injury cost us 3 more. 1 at best. Ohio State. And even with that...had the appropriate foul been called on Glynn's final shot..we win that. You can definitely blame the roster issues on Miles. But as a fan, I base my expectations for the upcoming season on how I perceive the roster to be.With Shavon I think we beat Ohio State and beat Penn state the second time (I know he played in that game, but the rest of the team was really flat by the time he returned. If he hadn't gone down I think we still have momentum and are playing well enough to beat them comfortably). Also, I wouldn't have been surprised if we stole one from Wisconsin or Indiana either. Those are where my 1 to 3 extra regular season wins come from. This is all speculation though.

  3. They will definitely be battle tested by the time they get to Big Ten play. I'm optimistic bc Miles has always surpassed seasonal expectations, 3 out of 4 years imo (first, second, and fourth season). And I think we would have had a really strong finish to last season had Shields not gone down with that concussion.
  4. It will count in your win total but not towards your RPI. UNO plays a game like that every year against Iowa Western or some other team of that level.I'd consider us and UNO to be in different positionsAgree. I was just saying that the win does count towards our win total.

  6. Really hope Terran and the Bucks pull it off tonight. If they win tonight they play the Bulls (my NBA team) in the second round. Would love to watch the Bulls young talent, one of my favorite Nebrasketball players in recent memory, and Thon Maker all in one game.
  7. Quick question: does Miles typically announce his starting lineups before the first game of the season or just leave it as a surprise? I cannot really remember.
  8. Listed below is a ranking of the likelihood each player has of starting Game 1 of the 16-17 season. The list will be most likely to start down to least likely to start. I decided to do this bc I honestly think we have 9 players that we could possibly see in the starting lineup next year. #1 Glynn Watson: I will be completely shocked if Watson is not our starting PG next season. He has good play making ability as both a passer and scorer and doesn't turn the ball over much. I really expect him to make a big jump this season. #2 Michael Jacobson: He has a really good chance to start at the 5. If Jordy is ready by our first game then Jacobson also has a really good shot at starting at the 4. Whether it's the 4 or 5 it seems likely he will be on the court for tip off. #3 Anton Gill: The two gaurd spot likely comes down to him or Webster. I'm buying into the hype that Anton will follow the footsteps of TP and AW3. He is said to be a versatile scorer and ultra athletic. Can't wait to see him on the court. #4 Tai Webster: I personally have Tai as the sixth man (potential 6th man of the year imo). However, Tai could very well lead the team in scoring and be our best defender along with being one of the team leaders in rebounding and assists. With that much contribution it would be foolish to dismiss his chances of starting based on what I see his role being. If he can shore up the TO's and be aggressive more often he could have a huge season. #5 Edward Morrow: A healthy Morrow equals one bad dude. I expect to see multiple double doubles and a handful of block parties by Ed. If Jacobson starts at the 5 than I think Ed is a lock for the 4 spot. #6 Isaiah Roby: With AW3 leaving, a huge opportunity opened up for Roby. Not only are a lot more minutes available but the chance to start from day one is a lot more likely. If he isn't starting the opener, he will be starting by season's end. #7 Jack McVeigh: Jack played well in his four game stretch as a starter and then kind of disappeared. More minutes will be available this season whether he is a starter or not. I personally like him as a shooter off the bench for two reasons. The first being that I think Roby is going to be really good and the second being, I am not super comfortable having to rely on a bench full of freshmen (aside from Tai). #8 Jordy Tshimanga: With his size and length he will be a defensive force immediately. Miles has started bigger centers but played them smaller minutes before so it is not inconceivable that Jordy starts whether he is ready to log major minutes or not. But I'm always a little cautious with freshmen centers. #9 Jeriah Horne: proclaimed "dark horse" of the season. Seems like an undersized, do it all PF. He is beefy and can rebound. He has a solid 3 pt shot and a nice touch around the rim. He will definitely get minutes and if he surprises us as much as some think he definitely could be a starter. I cannot help but think of last year when it was announced Jacobson would be starting his first game. This is the end of the 9 possible starters I mentioned above, but the list goes on. #10 Evan Taylor: I decided to go with ET bc of the position he plays. Gaurd depth is a little thinner than the wing and post. Also, Miles has shown he is willing to play pass first, defensive orientated gaurds over more talented options (see Benny Parker over Watson amd Webster). #11 Nick Fuller: Fuller is stuck behind a lot of depth. I see no way he is a season opener starter. If he somehow regains his shooting touch he had in high school maybe he could crack the lineup during the season if others are struggling. #12 Malcolm Laws: 0% chance. That's all I got here. Hope you all enjoy. Feel free to tell me how much you agree with me or how much of an idiot you think I am or anything in between. Gotta love the offseason.
  9. I really think UNO can make a name for themselves if they shore up all the under rated and fringe talent that isn't quite good enough for the Huskers. Lots of good talent in the state and especially the Metro area
  10. That's a fantastic comparison, buglem, as far as potential impact. Team players who can compete at the D-1 level are greatly appreciated. I would be 100% satisfied if your comparison turns out to be correct. Not everyone can be a star. It's essential to have role players who are accepting of their role, if you want to be a good or great team.
  11. The funny thing is there is a possibility that the starting lineup has Roby or Horne at the 3. Completely agree with that.
  12. Personally, I doubt we start all of our "3 headed monster". I have Taylor as our 10th man. I put him ahead of Fuller just bc the 3 and 4 spots are pretty deep.
  13. Was thinking the same thing. If he really loves defending and is good at it, then we are basically getting Benny Parker + 7 inches.
  14. Maybe, maybe not. Hard to tell at this point. One thing I do know is that Fuller won't provide backup depth at the guard spot. Let's say Tai and Glynn both pick up two fouls in the first half. Miles isn't sending Nick in to cover the guard spot to finish the half. Nick isn't a bad player. Nick's problems are two-fold: 1) he plays at a position where we have great depth; and 2) he never found his shooting touch in college. With White leaving, the depth problem eased just a bit. If Nick can find his rhythm, he might see the floor this year as a kick-out shooter. Well, he seems like a good pick up for how late in the cycle it is. He's athletic and a big gaurd. I also like some of the things he has said and done. He seems to be coming in with realistic expectations and confidence. I love that he plays defense bc I hate players who take that end of the court off.Props to Miles and staff for finding a solid addition this late in the cycle. Season cannot start soon enough!
  15. Just to clarify, me asking if he is a better college basketball player than Fuller isn't to knock the kid. Obviously he fills an important role and provides depth at a position that badly needed it. I'm just trying to figure out what we are getting in Evan Taylor.
  16. Serious question: Do we think he is a better college basketball player than Nick Fuller? Tai, Anton, Watson, Morrow, McVeigh, Jacobson, Palmer, Roby, Horne, and Jordy are all perceived to be good D1 talent by everyone here on the board. So unless Taylor is a real steal I'm sure he slides in behind those 9 guys in terms of talent. Fuller has only ever shown flashes once I think (Maryland his RFr. Year).
  17. We've only been recruiting him for 2 weeksI see that. Still in this world it is hard to keep things quiet. No news of him coming for a visit or anything.
  18. All of this is according to Washut's rival story (which was free btw) -Molinari initiated the contact -Freshman year at Samford he averaged 6.4 pts 3.3 reb 1.2 asst and 1.1 stl - Sophomore year at JUCO he averaged 7.1 pts 2.5 reb and 2.5 asst -He says he is 6'5 and can play 1-3 positions -He says he is a great defender and loves playing defense. Also, that he is a good facilitator and mid range shooter.
  19. Got what we needed. Interested to know how we came across him and how it stayed so hush hush.
  20. Jordy is the one who I am definitely most excited to get in the weight room.
  21. Tai's team is done after a close loss to Canada. Tai had 15pts, 10 reb, and 4 asst. Bittersweet bc it would have been cool for his team to make the Olympics but the faster we get him back the better.
  22. The vast majority of the schedule is shown on the original post. Only a few home games left to fill in...I see 7. So we probably have 5-6 more games left to announce. Do we play another good quality opponent or do we just pad the rest of the schedule since we already have a handful of good opponents? Also, I like to complain about how Creighton never schedules UNO, but I can't do so if we are doing the same. Any chance you think we add them? We played them in year 1 and year 3, so playing them this year would fit the every other year pattern. I think South Dakota qualifies for our Summit League game of the year so very doubtful with UNO. The rest of the teams will not be good....the level of that not so goodness will indicate what Miles thinks are chances are. Kinda figured we wouldn't play them but still a bummer. Love to see the local teams play each other in all sports.
