  2. The post-season honors might count for more. But Shavon isn't saying he's motivated by the possibility of post-season honors. He says he's motivated by the snub of not getting the pre-season honors. So, in that sense, for us and for our outlook on this season, the pre-season honor that he didn't get might end up having more impact than the post-season honor that he will get.
  3. http://www.omaha.com/huskers/despite-big-ten-snub-tim-miles-says-husker-forward-could/article_b7fd4684-7370-11e5-bd78-1f6ed36ce6c3.html The snub was news Thursday to the 6-foot-7 senior, who was ninth in the conference in scoring last season (15.4), 14th in rebounding (6.0) and fifth in free-throw shooting (82.7 percent). “Hmm ... that’s kind of disappointing,” Shields said in an interview at Big Ten media day. “Actually, that’s really disappointing.” Motivating, too? “Yeah,” he said after a pause. “You could call it that.” Nebraska coach Tim Miles was equally disappointed, saying: “Shavon deserves that type of talk.” Then Miles added something he hadn’t said before. “I think Shavon’s got a chance to be an NBA player,” the fourth-year coach said. “He has improved his game. He has improved his body. He’s gotten better every year. “Last year, he suffered from the 3-point line (19.5 percent), but who on our team didn’t? He’s a guy who needs to make more than one a game at a good rate to get into the NBA conversation. But I think he can do that.”
  4. There are few more effective ways to make oneself unpopular on an internet message board than the above types of statements. Sometimes, things are better left unsaid. Now, if you would like to go ahead and tell us who you are and why you are so clever, we'd be grateful to hear it. Otherwise, I'd imagine being less combative on the matter would gain much more favor. People are merely speculating here and really I don't think anyone (else) pretends to have any real important insider-y knowledge. It's just a conversation we're having. You know, for funsies? With all due respect to my friend from the Greater KC Area ...Norm makes mental notes about posters. There are some who I KNOW for sure they know stuff. There are some who I strongly suspect really do actually know stuff. There are some who I think talk out their arse a lot. Norm has made mental notes about Mr. CrazyforNUHOOPS before. Norm thinks Mr. CrazyforNUHOOPS falls into the middle category. Thanks for the support Norm. I hope to someday be able to fall into your top category! Right now, there's only one person in my top category. And, it's just that I know who that person is and how, therefore, he comes by his information. And it's been unassailable information. Just as an example, the very first public information about the hire of Rashon Burno was the thread I posted on this very site. Bryan Rosenthal reads my thread and starts scrambling to try to see if there's been a hire. That's how fresh my info was. So, there's only ONE way you make it into my top category: You have to buy me a beer.

  6. Several posters on here diagnosed Jorge Brian with pussitis. Not sure if that's a medical term ...
  7. I'm sorry, but we have to have another 6'7" kid besides Fuller to say that Jake Hammond won't start. Maybe Michael Jacobson could wear thin socks or something. By the way, I could see some very realistic rotations in which we have 4 guys 6'7" on the floor at once.
  8. Not if Spain trip is any guide. He's worth far more than 5-7 minutes going off of Spain.
  9. 6'7", duh! Even *I* know that, Norm. Is that with or without shoes?
  10. So, how tall will our tallest starter be?
  11. Yes, he would. Menke & Kurkowski (along with Shavon) have carried the APR for the Big Red for years! This is correct. Its why having smart walk-ons help quite a few programs across the country. Many are the difference between just getting by and sanctions. So, if we didn't have those smart walk-ons pulling us along, we'd potentially lose through penalties the scholarship spot that we end up giving to smart walk-ons? Is that about the size of it?
  12. OK, so, my point is made.
  13. Jake Layman? Are you kidding me? Someone needs to rearrange that dude's face. (Someone with, like, muscles and stuff. So, Ronda Rousey or someone like that.)
  14. Unless Miles opens practice to the public after Nov 1, I'm not budging.
  15. Well, Horne's head only goes up to the skyboxes on the east side. Roby's head goes up to like the third balcony. So, can we assume that Roby is like 15 feet taller than Horne? What do the line drawers have to say?
  16. Very much so. You mean having Khole Kardashian by his side? I hear ya.
  17. Are you frickin' kidding me? Not the worst thing that could happen? As it is, I start getting hives around the last week of October just anticipating that first game. Do you want me to suffer longer than that? Because that's what would happen if they pushed the season to start later. More hives for Norm. You heartless, cruel bastard.

  19. So, what if Indiana finishes outside the top 5 after having been picked 2nd? Or let's say outside the top 6. Does Crean still have a job there next year?
  20. Hammond scored 3 points and 7 rebounds in 11 games with a similar sort of pre-college ranking. That size is definitely what we're looking for. I thought we were hoping to find someone who could leapfrog over Hammond and be our starting center, not a guy who's similar to Hammond and just as good. The need for a center isn't just about depth; it's also about needing a better center.
  21. Remember back when clearing your cookies was the same thing as a Technicolor yawn?
  22. He played in 6 games and averaged less than 4 minutes per game. Collected 12 points and 4 rebounds on the season last year. But you can't coach 6'9" 230
  23. Miles should have copyrighted GATA when he had the chance. Maybe he still can.
  24. I know Luverne, Minnesota. I got a frickin' speeding ticket in Luverne, Minnesota one time. The trooper was honestly kind of a dick about it. I assumed the speed limit on the interstate was 75. Not in that one-horse town. And, sorry, I missed the sign. Honest mistake. Spare me the lecture and just give me the friggin' ticket and I'll be on my way, thank you very much.
