Michigan St. (15-2) vs. Nebraska (13-4) Game Thread
Norm Peterson replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Well, no. But I kinda like the image of a tooth-rotted, overall wearing asshole threatening to fight someone. My kinda guy. Was he drunk, too? -

It is clearly one of our best teams ever. The best since maybe, what, 94-95? Yes, it has some flaws. I wouldn't call them serious, other than the depth issue. -

He shouldn't have told me to shut it. Dammit. -

If JPJ had just gotten rolling a few game minutes earlier, it's probably a different outcome. -
You kept on reminding me of it; I assumed you wanted me to remember.

Roby will be back. Book it
Norm Peterson replied to B-town hoopsfan's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
It's like Bill Raftery said during the Indiana game: Isaiah needs to take that 3-point shot. He passes up open looks all the time. He can hit those. He needs to just not THINK about it and, instead, FEEL it. Just let it go and let muscle memory take over. They were saying he won some 3-point shooting contest on the team, something about hitting the most treys in a set period of time. That tells me he can feel it if he just stops thinking about it during games. -
Wow. That's a very bold statement. I'm a sunshine pumper and I'm not prepared to go that far. And to think you'd have been OK with the coach being fired last March. I'll go you one further: If the coach had been fired last March, we'd be in a 3-way race with Rutgers and Illinois for last place in the league. But at least we'd have a new coach, right?

Tarin was fine but his dad was not a particularly good fit for the program.

Gotta get the home games all season and then pick up a few on the road. Tough winning on the road, as MD and MN showed us.

uneblinstu's postgame chatter: vol 11; ed 16 - Penn St.

So PSU brought their "A" game; we brought our "B-" or "C+" game; and we still won by 6 points. -
2019 SG Jervay Green (Juco) - LOI
Norm Peterson replied to hhcmatt's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Takes awhile for jucos to get their sea legs and adjust to the college game. Doesn't happen over night. I'd like to see stats of what those players look like for the last half of the season rather than the first half. -

Winning also solves a lot of those kinds of problems. -

And the crowd still left early, which SO MANY PEOPLE assured me would never happen if they actually had a team worth watching. -
2019 SG Jervay Green (Juco) - LOI
Norm Peterson replied to hhcmatt's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
I disagree. Top 5 juco probably equates in skill and ability to a Rivals 4-star. Maybe even high 4-star. They get to campus older, more mature, and more physically ready than a high school kid. Many times, it takes them a full semester or more to really get their feet underneath them and adjust to the next level (which I expect will probably happen with Jervay next season.) But if you land a top 5 juco recruit, you're going to be getting a probable day-1 starter. And that's what I expect from Jervay. -
So, I finally joined twitter

So, anyway, not figuring on being here less. Just figuring that random observations find a better venue on a forum like twitter. Feel free to follow me. I'll follow back. -
First, it won't let me cut and paste my avatar onto my twitter account; second, it gave me this @NormPeterson14 handle. I guess there are 13 other people who wanted the name. I guess. I'm learning not everyone on twitter is as friendly as me. Moron? Really? That hurts.

2019 SG Charlie Easley (L Pius)
Norm Peterson replied to Navin R. Johnson's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
I think it's because, historically, walk-ons in football occasionally become starters and major contributors. In basketball, it just doesn't happen as much. -
OK, now you got Norm looking for the dictionary. Hombridge?
-
Yeah? So what is their excuse going to be this year?
-
Why wait on Luke Walton when Steve Alford is available right now? Besides, they are all just temporary placeholders until we can get Calipari or Kroozawooski.

On the last day of 2018, as I reflect on where our beloved hoops program is and how it's positioned going forward, I can't help but wonder what coulda been. If only our last AD had had his crap together, had the political capital to expend, and had listened to the basketball experts on the Nebraska Rivals message board and other Husker hoops message boards -- think about it -- we coulda been almost two years into the NEXT coach's rebuild and THAT MUCH CLOSER to hiring John Calipari or Mike Kryzyzyzawooski to be our next coach. Instead, we're limping along at 11-2, languishing at literally THE VERY BOTTOM of the AP top 25 rankings, and, unless we go damn near undefeated the rest of the regular season, it'll be 7 straight seasons under Tim Miles without a conference regular season championship. Don't they care about basketball?
