Ray is shooting at a higher clip from FT FG and 3, but he just has been absent in games this year where last year he was at least putting up shots. NU's gotta get him some looks by getting in the lane and getting some kickouts if the help defense is down low. Ray has got to score tomorrow.

Will Shields (no pun intended) be healthy?

One game. There has got to be a way to win just one game that nobody thinks you can compete, let alone walk out with a win. Because of that, there's almost nothing to lose but much to gain. Even so, the Michigan State game has a bunch on the line. What's it going to take? What's gotta give? How can we pull it off? I have never been so jacked for a game that I didn't think we'd win before. Please, Huskers, find a way!

uneblinstu's post game chatter: ed 6, vol 24 - Illinois

Although it was a nice deal for me, I'd rather not see that happen again... -
Think it would be cool,if the could come up with a fake vault door that the team could come out of locker room to the floor through. And that was my son's idea. I actually like that idea quite a bit. Would be cool if they could change the music...er..noises the players walk out to so it would resemble a vault opening or something. I keep looking for a dinosaur to come and instead it's just Terran Pettaway walking out. lol

I'm fairly dicey on the both Illinois games, but am pretty confident in the other four home games. I'd be thrilled to get one road game. I've gotta go with 8-10 right now. Winning on Wednesday would be huge IMO.

This. I was shocked when I looked at how poorly Illinois was doing, especially after getting those two conference wins early. But these guys have talent and are pretty athletic. It's going to take a well-executed game for NU to win this. If it's the best crowd of the season, I think that definitely can push NU over the top. But Illinois I think is better than their record. Be there and be loud. If your wife hasn't had her baby, you should be there Actuary

So, you could say NU would have to go 9-9 and run through a couple games in the conference tournament to have a shot. While there were a couple nice wins against name opponents (Indiana, Ohio State, maybe you could say Gulf Coast as far as a name brand), we lack several top 50/100 wins. I'm not sure we will ever look back and say "I don't think the Penn State and Michigan losses were important". Still though, lots to play for with realistic games. Winning out at home will put us closer.

How did Minnesota and Illinois get into the dance last year with 8-10 conference records? Was it mainly based on RPI or key wins/losses? Or who was hot at the end of the year? Iowa had a pretty solid year (a hawkeye fan I work with had pretty good conversations about it last year) but got stuck with NIT.

I don't think it comes down to Miles vs. Pelini at all. NU hoops has not won a tournament game but is competing (at this stage) and NU football is only winning 9 games per year, while not winning huge games and losing badly in others. It's like the Detroit Tigers comment above - fans get too hot and too cold when their team has success/failure. I am shutting down the Rivals board for now because there is absolutely nothing of substance from the posters. I might check out the mods posts but that's about it.

Ok, while this idea is great we're afraid to go down this path. There are two reasons we're afraid of this. 1. We don't want to end up with something insanely cheesy. Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-A-05wPlQQ4 2. We don't want to be anything like Taking Back Gameday. I won't post on here why but if you have any idea what they were you'll understand. This is one of my favorite youtube videos.

Four scholarships available every year starting in 2015. I guess I almost wish it was reversed, but either way Miles will have a lot of options in a couple years.
-
I almost threw something in there about the Sox- Papi will get a few RBI's with one swing and you will get the W.

Jimmy's having a milestone birthday today - Happy birthday to one of the better Husker fans out there.
-
Maybe it was just me, but anyone else raise an eyebrow a smidge with this? : "Favorite place to play away from Nebraska."
-
Are there any websites keeping track of Husker draftees? Some teams aren't reporting a whole lot on some of the rookies (part of it is there isn't much news to report at this point).

uneblinstu's post game chatter: ed 5, vol 30 - Minnesota
unl replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Perfect night. Very glad I got to go with some friends and enjoy it. To those of you I met, albeit briefly, at Barry's, it was great meeting you. Hard to believe I hadn't met cip before...but no Norm?!? Jimmy, lang, uneblinstu - glad to see you guys. And special shoutout to uneblinstu and scott for the extra tickets, Thank you. Great moment, great game, great memory. -
You would think Minnesota would be a hotter ticket than normal, but I don't get the feeling it's going to come close to selling out. Am I right? Should be some nice tributes, will the all-Devaney team be there?
-
Considering he has asked many of them whether they want to redshirt or not, I'd say I can imagine it.

So, do we have another B1G win left in us this season?
unl replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
If we beat Illinois or Wisconsin, I think we're looking at NIT possibilities rather than going home after the conference tournament. -
Predicting the 2012-2013 Season. Wins and losses
unl replied to BjoeHusker's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Norm posted that our predictions were more bleak right before the season started, then became a little more confident as we got closer to the season start. I had kind of thought that we set low expectations and, with the season we've had, would have been much more successful than the predictions most of us had. To many, we have already had a successful year. Hopefully the team can get a couple more wins and maybe get a win or two in the conference tournament. I think if you make it through the first round and even the NIT, given the limited number of scholarships this year, this would be a very, very good foundation for the next few years when Nebraska has the same amount of players as its opponent. I'm pretty stoked about our future, for sure. Thanks for pulling this back up, 49r. -
uneblinstu's post game chatter: vol 5, ed 25 - Michigan State
unl replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Every game, it seems we just refuse to double-team down in the low post. Do others notice this? It bothers me. You've got a huge AND athletic dude on the block and Ubel is left on an island with him. If Rivers, Talley, Shields come in for a double team when the entry pass comes in, I feel like we'd do so much better defensively. Not saying double for the whole possession, just that first 1-3 seconds the post receives the pass. Close game, but no cigar. -
Great comments Norm. Didn't see you but glad some of us made it out. Very memorable night.

Let me say this. cwg isn't kidding. What a fun evening. Some highlights.... Kent was the emcee and did a great job. Highlights showed on the video screens primarily of Lue's basketball career. Dinner was served - Prime rib, lasagna, potatoes, green beans, salad, etc...delicious meal. Hoppen was awarded the citizenship award, namesake of Bus Whitehead. Bus' son spoke first, then passed it on to Dave. One of the funniest lines of the speech went something like this: "As was mentioned, I'm the only Husker to score 2000 points in my career. I'd like to thank you, Tyronn, for going pro. I still keep this honor because of you. So thank you." Osborne was introduced for his award - he told great stories, namely that he spoke with Strick and Lue when they were in college often saying they would make great wide receivers. He is still a phenomenal speaker. Very, very good speech. Lue was very gracious and humble. I was young when he was at NU but remember watching all the games, and I had always thought he was somewhat cocky and arrogant. He opened by first thanking God, then his mother and grandmother, and delivered great words. Maybe he was a little cocky back then. But he has grown, to be sure. Awesome guy. Miles was Miles. Talked about GATA, and how he loved Nebraska and knows it won't happen overnight, but promised the crowd this program will make everyone proud. The guys I went with stuck around afterward, and I got to speak with Lue and Miles for the first time. Both obviously great character guys...Miles spoke 1 on 1 with just me, and an alumn for 3-5 minutes. As if I wasn't convinced he was the guy for the job before, I definitely am now. Talked with Lue about the Lakers, his cousin Cookie (now living in Sarasota)... I had an absolute blast. For those of you that didn't make it tonight, I strongly urge you to go in the future. Oh and Kent is feeling an upset tomorrow. With the way the night went, I'm about to predict the upset as well. http://www.huskers.com/PhotoAlbum.dbml?DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=100&&PALBID=649650

cip, You and I had the same except I put King in and you had Andre. Having not seen him play, am I giving Andre enough credit? Was King be right up there for you as well? Maybe being a Sonic/Thunder fan had something to do with it. Just curious.
