  1. If you've never looked up 'inferiority complex' in the dictionary, you'll no longer need to. Again, these are not all my personal thoughts. Some of them have validity. It's a complex created by years of sour treatment between the fanbases - both sides are the guilty parties "Your program sucks, win a game in the tournament" "your program sucks, you only win the MVC every year" "recruit a player besides your coaches son to make you successful" "learn how to play offense and recruit a big man" And so it goes every year, the message boards acknowledge and encourage the animosity and spout all this crap toward one another (and its not even like this activity is centered around the annual game). BJU certainly is guilty of it. Don't know why it can't just be a fun game that gets young athletes in our state interested in basketball
  2. Mac and the staff put in the work early and often with khyri - the day he announced he was headed to fork union we offered him a scholarship. They had been betting on him going that route considering he'd gotten practically zero attention from anyone besides us. A few ESPN guys had nice things to say about him during his time there. IMO Miles just missed the opportunity and if he realized at some point he would be a guy worth bringing in, it was too late and not worth the effort To echo Chuck Taylor's words, I do not believe the staff has it "figured out" yet, either, although there's still hope for optimism. Foster can straight up play - and if Watson can't get his shit together then I say give Foster the ball and let Mo play 20 minutes his back up next year. Ronnie Harrell has looked either really good or lost on the court this year - only 18 years old still. We took a shot in the dark with the 6'4 NC guard but he looks to have a good foundation, physically speaking. Our '17 top 50 pickup from Oak Hill looks good by all accounts. All that said, the true key to the program's future honestly hinges on how Justin Patton progresses, and I really hate to pin those hopes on such a young kid. But if he can become that game changing defensive big man with offensive skills, then this team could really make some noise down the road. We have plenty of perimeter players for the foreseeable future, and power forwards galore with Huff, Hegner, and Krampelj - but especially after this year once GG graduates, the key is Justin. I'm optimistic, but if he busts, put him into the nevin johnson, andre yates, LGIII category. And this team will continue to suffer on the defensive end for it
  3. Wanna know why we have the complex? Years of your program dodging ours, years of some of your less desirable fans attributing all our success to us being members of a mid major conference, and a local media culture that ultimately exists to serve UNL athletics. Case in point - OWH writer Sam McWhatever openly cheering on twitter last night against the team his paper covers These are not all necessarily my personal thoughts - but from what I've gleaned these are the major gripes CU fans don't/ haven't let go of
  4. Thoughts - I'm not sold on Miles as a coach yet. I'm just not. There are more question marks than answers for him at this point. You take out the '14 run and the picture becomes a lot more clear... and I couldn't help but laugh when he got T'd up. Bad no call on the moving screen, I get it... but still. I have never seen Miles floor a team that looks good on offense, even during said run. Idk what it is.. lack of recruiting shooters, lack of recruiting guys that "know" the game, lack of a big man. AWIII is a legit player but beyond him and Shields (who got shut down) this still looks to be a one dimensional offense. If Webster, Benny, or Watson could knock down threes at a 33% rate you'd be in a much better position. Hammond had moments last night but he doesn't look like a confident matchup against B1G centers. Defensively it looks like your guys just got caught in the headlights last night at times. Making mistakes that are unallowable against most any CU team - leaving guys open for shots. Watson took Webster to town a couple times last night, but he also played with the same out-of-control nature that has been maddening to us fans. Khyri Thomas can be invaluable defensively. It will be interesting to see how each team's season pans out - honestly not too high on either at this point. You guys did not play your A or even B game last night, that's for sure. Idk if that'll be taken as a compliment or as flaming, but I'm calling it how i saw it.
  5. I will be in attendance with a friend, wearing Husker colors. Very excited to see the new guys in action and form my opinions on who will get the most playing time
  6. Creighton over Upper Iowa 113-77
  7. Didn't know if you were aware but Matthew Oltman (Music Director/singer of Chanticleer) is currently doing Doctoral work in Music at the University. He was at a house party of mine a couple of weeks ago. It was an interesting moment in my career as a musician. How did you get in touch with King's Singers?
  8. Checkered blue shirt. I sit underneath the countertenor for the most part. This type of stuff is not my forte in solo'ing...we might be giving some Bee Gees a shot here in the near future...
  9. I have another year before graduation, then likely will work a day job in lincoln for a year to save money and apply for grad schools. Then go where any opera house will have me
  10. Gilmore definitely was not explosive. Sorry to say but his knees are just not in good shape. P'Allen, yes. But he was also 6'1 and a head case. Mintz is 6'3.5, reportedly has a 4.0 right now and felt very at home on his visit
  11. Sorry, years of bullying at the Underground has left me a bit scarred haha only kidding. Male part above tenor is called countertenor. Contralto conversely is the lowest women voice. This sorta style isn't my vocation, I'm at the U right now studying opera but stuff like this is a lot of fun
  12. Couldn't figure out how to embed, but here's a link Figured this would be a good way to "out" myself as a current UNL student to you all. If we win the school gets $25k and we get featured in in Macy's ads, commercials etc. Award goes to three schools link for upvoting on reddit is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/acappella Apologizing in advance Dimes for the shameless plugging, but 25k is 25k
  13. Here's my last comment on Mintz: you can't teach a kid to explode off one foot like that. And I don't think anyone on CU's current roster has hops like that
  14. I'm not saying this to be a jerk. But most write ups on players from evaluators are fairly positive as are the guru's on the radio. They have a job and they deal with a LOT of coaches/parents, etc. They don't want to rip many players and burn bridges. Yeah, but you could also look at it from the perspective that what he is saying about Davion has at least a shred of authenticity or genuineness. I'm not trying to be a jerk as well.
  15. Corey Evans (east coast recruiting guru) had some high praise for Mintz and was suggestive of the idea that he was going to continue to rise on programs' radars. They didn't mention his athletic ability (which, in agreement with Norm, I think is better than a player we've signed in a long time) but rather his all around skill set and feel for the game. He's seen him play so his opinion is likely the most valuable one out there right now considering the lack of info on Davion If you want to take a listen, start around the 20:00 mark. Segment lasts for about 3-4 minutes http://hoopseen.com/index.php/news/headlines/item/3658-the-podcast-scandal-in-college-hoops-transferring-and-michigan-state?utm_content=buffer0a203&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer
  16. Those biceps tho Ed is jacked
  17. I'm not trying to be a pessimist, I just do not see how Walter fits into an NBA roster, unless he is draining 3's at, like, a 45% clip. The dude is SOFT, can't/ doesn't want to rebound, doesn't want to bang down low. I'll be interested to see how this plays out
  18. I believe this officially marks the first inside joke in which I have participated on this board. Thanks, HHC, I'm quite honored
  19. Roby reminds me a lot of Ronnie Harrell. Thin lanky perimeter player with ball skills at 6'8. Someone correct me if I am wrong

  21. Gtmo was out of line. he has no rights because it is the internet. And you could make the argument that what he was doing (willfully sharing info from the paid side to the not-paid side) was in poor taste because most the dudes on the Rivals site are also bju members. But at the same time, I don't see how the Rivals guys can put a premium on the info they get from members of the staff. Are they telling those members to keep the information they release top-secret? So, no telling your friend at work about a visit they just got from such and such recruit. Creighton basketball is obviously a long ways off from this, but I am pretty sure than when paywalled info gets posted on a big-time program's subscription site (think uk basketball or alabama football), that info is disseminated to non-paywalled locations on the internet. A person can and should be able to do whatever they want with that info. Also, Norm, in response to your question, I am not sure if he was banned on both boards. I know for sure he was banned from the Underground. FreddyMac made it pretty clear he had no qualms about doing so and that numerous people have asked for his removal from the site over the years. If I had to guess I would say he is no longer a rivals member either, whether it be because he was banned or because he willingly gave up his membership
  22. for anyone who wants an interesting look at a message board's existential crisis, head over to the Underground and check out the offtopic board. GtmoBlue (longtime poster on the rivals and wbr sites) was banned for sharing information on recruits that he received from his paying membership on rivals. From what i understand the Rivals site has really improved since Heath Gunderson took over (and they got Perrault out of it), but a lot of jays fans on the underground do not subscribe. Some members are saying that the paywalled information cannot be shared on another board because 'if you want the info, just subscribe'. Personally I think that's bogus. Once Heath puts out information for his subscribers on the internet, that information should not have a chokehold put on it. Once it reaches internet the info becomes public knowledge
  23. Hard to get a lot of minutes behind a NBA ROY the same size as you playing the same position. Those guys ranked in the 35-65 range honestly have it worst if they choose to go to a blueblood IMO. Recruits within that range will get a lot of legit blueblood attention but they find themselves permanently stuck behind a top 10 or top 20 dude who plays the same position. Problem with AWIII is he never showed Bill Self anything in practice to convince him he deserved those minutes. A lot of factors come into play for playing time, obviously, and its good to see him get a legit chance at being an impact player in a power conference
  24. Were you guys aware of Brooks' connection to NU before his announcement? I do see this thread was started today
