  1. TP has looked good, will admit though I've mainly been watching to see thon maker (also looks good even if he's 23)
  2. UNO is not a desirable game for Creighton....it would surprise me if Miles agreed to a game in the near future with them as well. Risk > Reward . It sucks to have to play that game now but taking a risk like that in the nonconference slate just isn't worth it when you consider the matchups you're getting from the big ten/big east conference schedule.
  3. you can be a non shooter and still play a role in the big ten. if he's athletic with a long wingspan and enjoys playing defense then he should be valuable for Miles down the road.
  4. Where did anyone get the idea that Creighton had interest? We have a scholarship open but other than that, the interest for a player like Andrew is pretty lukewarm... he is basically another Cole Huff - not necessarily a bad thing but he really doesn't fit a need for us at this point. I just found it surprising that we were connected to his recruiting. I feel that if he left NU for a bigger stage, CU wouldn't exactly jump off the page as one of his first options for an upgrade.
  5. Go to the NBA subreddit if you want to see the direct evidence. There's a lot of really weird stuff on there to show that something's up, but I don't know how a family could honestly pull off this heist. There are yearbook photos dating him into the 2010 class of a high school in Perth. The debate is now mainly hinging on whether or not he was simply a middle schooler attending ESL courses at the high school, which is completely normal for refugees. I don't think the yearbook photos carry that much weight. It's mildly questionable that he hasn't really grown much at all in the past four years, but certainly not unheard of for kids to stop growing at 15. I find it hard to believe that a kid can be scouted heavily for four years without this coming to light. I think the real question here is whether Thon's path to the NBA will inspire a bunch more highly-touted high school seniors to spend a year chilling at a prep school instead of going the one-and-done route in college. Why don't they carry weight? The same poster who uploaded the photos also uploaded a video of the yearbook to disprove any claims of photoshopping. His name is clearly seen with "Graduation 2010" in the upper left corner. Not saying that I don't agree with your mindset, I find it inconceivable as well. To be completely fair, the two cities that he lived in Australia (Perth and Sydney) have the entire length of the Outback between them and are literally on opposite ends of a continent. So maybe it isn't out of the realm of possibility that hiding such a thing was made easier by relocating as far away as possible. Also, some regular google searching today led me to discover that these rumors were circulating in NBA circles the week prior to the draft. If he is really 23, I would expect his body to be a lot more filled out, if even just naturally so. Regardless of the perception created by his youtube phase, he isn't a great athlete - he's just a 7'1 guard and moves like one. The comp for him is Giannis Antetokounmpo, but nba scouts feel as if Thon is still an incredibly massive project with a raw feel for the game. If he's 23 and still being described by scouts in such a way, I don't like his prospects for significant improvement

  7. when andrew doesn't get drafted next year, he will look back on this decision with deep regret
  8. I'd be surprised if Roby has a higher vert than Gill. Just based off Anton's highlights from high school, that would be two incredibly athletic players.
  9. these are the sorts of ballsy moves depaul has to make in order to improve IMO. But he needs minutes to show whether or not he's as good as people said he would be when he was in high school.
  10. I don't know many people who have NU season football tickets and CU basketball tickets. Maybe since I don't go to the football games I don't see that sort of thing, I know plenty of people that have tickets to both the basketball teams (myself included). A lot of the younger NU students who went to high school in Omaha come from families that support CU athletics and they go on to support both basketball programs, as I think they should.
  11. Found out today the first Metro game at OSA this summer is in two weeks. Any current or former NU player participating?
  12. Odds are 2 to 1 in favor of Golden State. I would put money on Cleveland. They've been hot the whole playoffs and Lebron is playing at a very high level. I trust him to close out the series over either Curry or Thompson
  13. I can understand if you're a player from a rural area where scouts can't get out to see you regularly. Guys like that are oftentimes shortchanged for their level of talent. But when you're in Calabasas California , I'd imagine you having zero problems with exposure to scouting. And I think these types of recruits do themselves more harm than good with the social media game. As if scoring points with likes retweets etc is going to get you anywhere closer to a real offer from a school Sidebar, I also hate the whole "is this offer real or not" phenomenon that has invaded high school basketball. Its an unconditional d-1 offer or its not, no ifs ands or buts about it. The players, their friends, and sometimes even their coaches are the ones putting out misinformation on the internet and its confusing to fans like us that live on twitter. At least, most the time if there's something fishy about an offer you can guess its not real
  14. Well, before tonight I thought he would come back...now I'm much less certain. thinking its a tossup at this point
  15. still hasn't announced? is he teetering?
  16. The way JR Smith and Channing Frye are shooting right now, I wouldn't be shocked to see the Cavs upset the Warriors. Personally I feel the Thunder matchup way better against Cleveland because of Cleveland's lack of a true big man (and Mozgov hasn't seen the floor at all these playoffs). I'm a big fan of Adams and think he's the league's most underrated center, and one of the few guys that is two-way effective.
  17. What, exactly, are the things Andrew needs to improve upon in the eyes of the NBA? His defense?
  18. That's a pretty fearsome physical profile. I would imagine he plays as much as his conditioning reasonably allows next season. 20-25 mpg?
  19. congrats fam, looks like a real quality pickup that fills a need
  20. They're very different players but its kinda funny, what will make them successful in the NBA is the same... their ability to play defense and hit 3's at a good percentage. Andrew is undoubtedly the better shooter but probably behind TP in defense. If he were as good a shooter as Andrew would he have gone in the first round? Stuff to think about. Anyway, I feel like long-term Andrew is set up for more chances at the league just because of his size + shooting combo. tbh I have zero idea of his chances for getting onto a summer league team
  21. chicken and waffels.
  22. Why can't we just change it to "A scathing view of Butler beat writers' opinions on Nebraska basketball"? how about "a scathing discussion of scathing butler beat writers' scathing opinions on nebraska basketball edit: "
  23. Where did all the hype fot this player come from? He visited both NU and CU awhile back and it was a huge deal because he was "highly rated". I could never find much film on him, nor could I find writeups about his game. Its perplexing how some of these kids are able to rev up the hype machine around themselves.
  24. Or an empty scholarship? edit: not trying to be inflammatory. Just wondering out loud what the reaction would be if you end up having the space for another player after taking Jordy's replacement (probably not as talented) simply because you didn't offer the both of them
  25. Ricky Doyle seems to want to go to Iowa, the last I checked anyway. Doyle isn't a graduate transfer so he can't go to Iowa without losing a full year. Johnny Dawkins is down at UCF and Aubrey Dawkins has already transferred there. Creighton doesn't have any scholarships left and I keep seeing them being brought up with guys this year. I guess we'll find out who gets the privilege of taking one for the team and paying for their own school this year assuming that someone doesn't get Creaned. If I were a gambler I'd put money on the hypothetical walk-on being Isaiah Zierden. Dad has a good job and plenty of money to pay for a year of Creighton tuition. Me personally, I hope they don't ask him to do it unless they know that the Zierdens are more than willing to oblige. IZ is a proven D1 commodity, and just because his family can afford to pay doesn't mean he should be asked to. I would rather the coaches realize he shouldn't be playing 35 mpg in the big east, if they do so perhaps he'll be able to provide valuable minutes all year as opposed to being completely gassed by early february. Plus, Ricky Doyle just doesn't seem worth potentially alienating the Zierden family ncaa football and basketball athletes give up so much for their programs. IZ is arguably the last MVC player on the roster that's actually proven he can play at a BE-caliber level, if only in a role player position.
