Norm, you're not alone. I couldn't stand gin until someone made me try hendricks. I make it into mules. Tonic water works very well too though.

Isn't Omaha South already supposed to be the best team in the state next season? If Twitter is any indication, It seems Aguek and Ed Chang are very close.

Looks like he's having a great time. He's a lot more trim than I imagined. Would be a great get for you guys

AW-III IS BACK FOR HIS SENIOR SEASON (SOMEWHERE)

this is honestly not some drive by attempt to bash Doug, he got lucky and won the lottery. Good for him. Last post in this thread, I'll just leave it at this... -
AW-III IS BACK FOR HIS SENIOR SEASON (SOMEWHERE)
bleujay replied to AuroranHusker's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
That's obviously not true. It also doesn't indicate which guys have agents and which ones don't.Clearly hyperbole on my part. But my point is, getting into the NBA is like, really REALLY hard to do. If one has even the slimmest of shots at it, they must take their chance. How AWIII declaring is an indictment against anything I'll not understand. Sure, we'd like to have kids come back to play for DONU just because they love playing in Lincoln NE for free and our entertainment SO MUCH, but that's unrealistic. Not everybody is as stupid as Douggie McBuckets... Here's a link to a 2013 NBA Mock Drafthttp://www.nbadraft.net/extended-nba-mock-draft-30 Now here's a link to the NBA rookie salary scale: http://basketball.realgm.com/nba/info/rookie_scale Now, obviously we can only take mock drafts at face value, and they're harder to find for info on Doug since he inevitably stayed for his senior year, but let's take a look at the salary scale. That mock draft has Doug going 19th. The 19th overall pick would make around $4mil over the course of his rookie contract. Not bad. But he was projected to go anywhere from 19th-mid 2nd round. By staying his senior year, and averaging higher numbers in a conference that is much better than the MVC, he elevated himself to a lottery-range guy, and ended up getting drafted 11th, where he'll end up making around $6mil over the course of his rookie contract. You might have been trolling, it's all good fun, whatever. Just wanted to clarify that basic mathematics tell me that a $2mil increase in salary doesn't really look like a stupid move. I will concede that in hindsight it all worked out for him. He was able to hang out with his bros for another year, win the Wooden award, and likely earned his father enough goodwill with the Creighton fanbase that coach chewie will end up making millions of $ more than he possibly would have otherwise. The risk paid off. But let's play devil's advocate for a moment here. What would have happened if he decided to come back and had suffered a season ending knee injury in early December? (remember he had knee surgery first NBA season, so it's not like he was immune to potential knee issues) He wouldn't be drafted at all, let alone the lottery. NOW he's relegated to Europe or the D-League and is forced to fight his way into the NBA, where he may or may not have made it. How many millions of dollars would he have given up then? All so he can come back for his senior year...as a walk on? He would be looked at as being more foolish than Colby Donaldson in season 2 of Survivor. Idk about you but I wouldn't want to predicate my decision to jump to the NBA on fear of career-threatening injury. Especially if Doug wants to make a living by playing basketball everyday, that doesn't seem like a healthy mindset of a multiyear NBA veteran. I understand the whole 'risking millions' thing but I truly doubt if Doug would have even gotten drafted in the first round 2013. His stock was still pretty low until he went to Team USA camp that summer. Before then, most coaches saw a dominant Valley tweener forward who couldn't play defense or operate in the middle area. After that camp, they saw a knockdown shooter with a nice offensive skillset who could be hidden on defense. Sometimes its all about your exposure and narrative. Also, as you have stated, he didn't just "come back as a walk on". He dominated the Big East, won every individual award he could have, and made more money in the draft to pay his father back 10 times. Sooo...imply as much as you want that the decision wasn't smart, but the decision to stay had calculated risks and rewards, and Doug chose correctly. There is almost no way to argue otherwise -
This makes sense. I have family both in Miami and a few who went to UMiami, they said a good portion of the students spend their evenings downtown/ in South Beach. My uncle is a real estate agent operating in the Miami-Dade county, and I know for a fact many of the residents believe the area is worse off than it should be. There are still a good amount of mob bosses on South Beach, at the nightclubs and such. Concurrently, Lincoln is a great city - you have some of the trappings of a bigger city along with the charm of a college town. Plus, there's not a significant crime culture.

The next wave of realignment could very well hinge on whether or not Texas gives up its precious tv network...because if they don't do that I believe its likely that OU leaves.

Except fs1 has little visibility. This sounds like terrible news to me. Huh? FS1 has great visibility. Regardless of the Nielsen ratings, FS1 is not far behind ESPN in terms of number of televisions that have the channel.

2017 PF David Wingett -> Memphis -> S. Dakota St
bleujay replied to AuroranHusker's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Congrats to the dude on his two offers. Regardless of whether bigger programs get involved, he's getting his education paid for, and that's what truly matters -
The deal is good for the Big East

2018 F Ed Chang (Papillion-LaVista)
bleujay replied to AuroranHusker's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Does Ed have offers from schools besides CU and NU? If not I'd imagine that changes this summer -
I know its risky/ difficult to project a true freshman's production but where would you put Roby on this list come opening tip in the fall?
-
any idea where mickey mitchell might go? That dude could ball in high school.

Whatever Tim's plans are.. They need to be fast

I'm not sure why everyone refuses to acknowledge the rivalry. Maybe not the best word choice - both sides pretend they're above it? Whatever the case, CU fans do it too and it annoys the crap outta me. Rivalry games are the best game atmospheres. You're UC to our Xavier, animosity in sports is fun as long as no one gets injured Side note, huskerbaseball, I don't really think CU and NU compete all that much for recruits. We beat you for Ricky a couple years ago, you beat us on Glynn. Both sides could argue how much interest they had in both those guys. Other than those two, CU doesn't seem to pursue guys that Miles does, and vice versa. It certainly helps that we've really put an emphasis on the east coast the past 18 months. Maybe every once in awhile both programs offer the same guy (someone who is unlikely to play basketball in the state of Nebraska), but its not like Mac and Miles are getting into arms races over players on a regular basis -

I believe its just one of those joke accounts. No worries, just wanted to set that straight haha. from all accounts though Kaleb was a hard worker and great teammate while at 'Cuse, even after never playing this season. Maybe he's not that great of a player, but you have to think with his physical tools he should be able to have an impact in a major conference. Boeheim practically handpicked him to be their point guard after Ennis left, I have to think it was a matter of confidence. -

did you mistakenly think this is his twitter account? https://twitter.com/thugkalebjoseph because college kids are stupid enough to admit to snorting coke on their twitter bios. His real account hasn't been used since October 2014. Just wanted to point out that "trash individual" are the poorest choice of words and the furthest from the truth in describing Kaleb. He took his relegated role in stride this year and any article you read about his transfer will tell you that. maybe do a little more research next time before calling a 20 year old college student trash -

Like he did at ISU, Mac has once again proven he can recruit at a very high level -
well, that seems to be as good a reason as any. credit to him for being deliberate in his process I guess.

I haven't been paying attention since the beginning of NU's recruitment of Jordy, but why does it seem like this process is being dragged out? Did a lot of schools not show interest in him until late in the process? Is Jordy still taking visits to multiple schools? Its just a little uncommon to see a quality recruit that's not a decommit looking at his options a few months before he's set to step onto campus.

Having a hard time deciding which was my favorite game of the season, last night or the OU-KU game a couple months ago that went to 3OT. As someone said it was a much needed turnaround because both FF games were a snoozefest. I think last night has a slight edge just because it was a buzzer beater for the NC. Overall a great end to the season, also very happy that the four year player coach won. Experience more often than not trumps talented freshmen

Hard to watch when they went on a 22(!)-0 run in the second half

When you're not one of the top dogs of your recruiting class and you end up at a blue blood program, you really run the risk of not seeing the court often. I'm talking the UK's, KU's and Duke's of the world, where the basketball program is a cycling rotation of NBA players in their obligatory pre-rookie season. White and Gill are both good examples. Few others that come to mind are Semi Ojeleye, Conner Frankamp. Unfortunate thing for most guys like them is that they still are talented enough to play a lot of minutes for Elight Eight Kansas. The tape on Anton is pretty solid and I will be excited to see how well he can shoot next year. It's already clear that he's an upper tier athlete, even for the big 10
-
Cheick was ineligible for the first part of the season and when he returned to the team, Self already had his rotation established with a fairly deep frontcourt. He reminds me of another Alexander, but two inches taller and in better shape. So that tweet seems to imply he is transferring if he returns for his sophomore year? You have to think he'd instantly become the hottest commodity in the offseason market
-
Somewhat irrelevant, but is this post referring to the internet era of recruiting (2003-)? Nee had to have brought in recruits rated by recruiting publications in their "top 100". Strickland and Lue are the first to mind

If you've never looked up 'inferiority complex' in the dictionary, you'll no longer need to. Again, these are not all my personal thoughts. Some of them have validity. It's a complex created by years of sour treatment between the fanbases - both sides are the guilty parties "Your program sucks, win a game in the tournament" "your program sucks, you only win the MVC every year" "recruit a player besides your coaches son to make you successful" "learn how to play offense and recruit a big man" And so it goes every year, the message boards acknowledge and encourage the animosity and spout all this crap toward one another (and its not even like this activity is centered around the annual game). BJU certainly is guilty of it. Don't know why it can't just be a fun game that gets young athletes in our state interested in basketball This isn't JayskerHoopsCentral.com This isn't WeTakeShitFromOposingFanBases.com This is HuskerHoopsCentral.com. Husker Hoops Central So, this feeling of entitlement that you get to come here and tell us what shit fans we are for not loving and respecting Creighton basketball is on you and the need to give yourself a complex by reading and interacting on a board about HUSKER BASKETBALL. I'd suggest you figure it out quickly and/or try and find sites on the internet that cater to your interest. sorry, send me a pm if you ever feel Im crossing the line but I thought this was the time of year to talk about this stuff. Your fans are certainly doing so atm. Was only trying to contribute outside perspective.
