  1. That would have been my nephew. He likes to put the pedal to the metal. Great kid!
  2. I'm gonna take a sliver of credit for the W. At the seventh inning stretch, I said screw it I'm turning off the radio and I'll watch posts on HHC for a karma change. What do you know!
  3. Reasons why they are pricey: beef in general is more expensive, since the price of flat irons is less than the standard cuts, there's higher demand. Finally, they are a pain in the ass to cut, which means higher processing costs. We don't offer a flat iron. We turn them into slab jerky. So, if you have a hankering, I've got 6 different flavors I can offer.
  4. The problem with wings is they're overpriced. Whenever I do buffalo chicken, I use legs and thighs. Got the recipe from Standhardinger...
  5. Agree on the bone in thighs. Sometimes I'll use leg quarters and go with a salt, pepper and garlic rub. Center cut pork chops are amazing. I prefer thick cuts, but if you buy a whole loin, you can cut them however you want. Just general knowledge I'm throwing out, the USDA 4 or 5 years ago said medium rare pork is safe to eat. I cook my pork chops to 140 and they are juicy and lip-smacking good. Mrs. cip and I had NY strips, baked potatoes and asparagus last night. Outstanding! Lastly, on the plate ribs, we don't have the whole plate, but our short ribs are cut from that. PM me if you want info.
  6. I would think she'd get tired of lil' smokies.
  7. Awesome song! Jeff Lynne wrote this about his struggles with depression.
  8. When someone asks me to name my favorite Beatle song, I answer, How? I can give a Top 25 list, but I can't pick a favorite. However, after some thought, here's my favorite Husker whom I never watched or listened to games while he played for NU. Saw him many times on TV after he graduated. Nate Branch. His last year with the Huskers was 1966, when I was 5 and he joined the Harlem Globetrotters in 67. Saw him play at least once a year on The Wild World of Sports. The announcers, maybe Chris Schenkel, always said he played for the University of Nebraska. Talk about being proud.... One other name I'll throw out because he played when I sat in the student section is Greg Downing. Undersized, over-hearted and at 6'2" could jump through the ceiling and electrify the crowd.
  9. I never thought Texas would consider the B1G. Their money doesn't mean squat to the blue bloods in the Big Ten. So, they couldn't call the shots. However, I'm sure they think they'll be a player in the corrupt SEC, which they will. Lapdog OU will go along.
  10. This year's roster has another thing going for it. After a 7 year hiatus, the cip salsa garden was planted yesterday. When the Huskers win at least one game in the NCAA tournament this upcoming season, I want some credit. Whomever actually remembers this post and is the first to revive it, gets a quart of salsa! After we win the tourney game(s), of course.
  11. 9-2 Huskers in the bottom of 5. We're still batting...
  12. The Gospel according to Matthews. Huskers up 2-0!
  13. I'm expecting sweeps these next two conference series, but at the very least, the Huskers need to take 4 out the 6 games to guarantee a spot in the B1G Tourney. So, two out of three ain't bad. GBR and NCSWIC!
  14. 25 years old makes him eligible for the NBA Seniors draft. Doesn't mean he won't play in the NBA....
  15. Standhardinger's favorite movie is The Iceman Cometh.
  16. Noon first pitch tomorrow. By sundown, we'll have taken this series!
  17. Just listening. 12-9 Huskers top of 7. This husker team is the most Jekyll and Hyde team I can remember.
  18. 96. He always shot better with his back to the goal.
