  1. While we will never be considered a Foodie destination, at least we have a decent variety and quality of restaurant choices now compared to what it was in the 70's, 80's or 90's.
  2. I wonder how long it's been since that particular fan has been in Lincoln. Thanks to the Arena and Haymarket Lincoln actually has some fun and pizzaz to it now. There are pizzaz now? I love pizza. Mellow Mushroom You guys are brutal..... piz·zazznoun \pə-ˈzaz\ : a quality or style that is exciting and interesting

  4. Sure makes being an Associate Head Coach sound a lot more attractive, even if it's for the Cavs. Can you imagine if LeBron decides to go back?!
  5. I look forward to your posts here. Thanks!
  6. How much more > is Associate Head Coach > Assistant Coach? I would tend to think that besides commanding a higher salary than a regular AC, it somewhat gives him a bit of a resume boost too. It all helps when you are still trying to land that first HC gig.
  7. Impressive film. You have to like the way he runs the floor and shoots for someone his size.
  8. I sure hope this is simply a case of a high school kid wanting to get as many offers from as many big schools as possible for "bragging rights".
  9. Three things stood out to me as I read this article. The first that he wants to go somewhere for 4 years, that's not something you always hear out of kids these days. It shows great maturity to me. The second is that once he was offered by Nebraska his parents "opened up" about the program. Have to love mom and dad being alumni. The last thing was that Nebraska was recruiting him the hardest! That was music to my ears! Go Tim Miles!
  10. That was exactly my take on it. He was a shadow of the player he was then. His confidence disappeared. I sure hope this summer spent with TP pays off.
  11. Don't remember what year exactly but it's been a rule for about 5 yrs or so. Definitely within the last 10. They felt it gave schools with more money and facilities with large HD scoreboards an unfair advantage over the lesser schools. Can't have their names on a jersey either.
  12. I really like our chances now. I wouldn't really feel welcome going to a school that has no open spots for me. I think we can offer just as much playing time as wake forest, but we are already an established winner in the big 10 and wake is rebuilding. I just don't want to get too excited about UNLV not having a ship open, because what if they "make" one available by kicking a lesser player to the curb? I'll hope for the best that we get him.
  13. Any news on how Deng's visit is going?
  14. That is a great video to show recruits and try to get them to become part of success!
  15. You know Indiana fans have to be feeling a bit depressed after last season where their overall W-L % was only .531. But that was the good news because their conference W-L % was .389...........and wait for it.........Nebraska who was picked to finish last in the conference swept them! Now in a poll that is admittedly too early and whose accuracy could be argued on several fronts none the less has them at #43! Ouch!
  16. Historically Nebraska has paid on the lower end of the pay scales for most sports until the last 10 years or so and then started to get competitive. I remember Devaney and Osborne having very modest salaries as Head Coaches even for those times compared to other schools. I think Miles is showing another reason why he is a very smart coach in that he realizes how important it is to take care of his assistants salary wise to help get the best recruiters and coaches possible who fit his coaching style and beliefs.
  17. My guess would be through his Houston academy but don't know for sure.
  18. That was my same first impression and that of everyone I've talked to that has seen the video. We have all read the articles of when he first arrived and the older players were in awe of his build saying that he had the body of a "man". You got the impression then that he must be very well built but nothing prepared me for when I saw the video and saw just how chiseled and solidly built he is. He should be the poster child for the Urban Dictionary for "Built like a Brick Outhouse".
  19. I agree that you can never duplicate game conditions during practice and as we have a shortage of great Bigs, Hammond won't get the experience against them if he redshirts. Having said that, We have some very athletic and talented guys he will be going against every day in practice. Defending the basket he will be facing All B1G Terran Peteway each day, not to mention Shields and the others. So while not like going up against Kaminsky, he will get that benefit from the practices.
  20. I agree. Just my opinion but while Pitchford had some very productive games that teased you as to his becoming a regular contributor, there were too many games where I felt he under performed. I don't know if it's a matter of confidence or what but he had way more games where he was almost a non-factor than he had good games. To land in the NBA you better be consistently good shot, a great defender or an incredible rebounder and defensive presence in the middle. While he showed me flashes of that, I felt he failed to deliver more often than not. How much will Miles and his staff be able to help develop each of the players during the off season? I hope they each continue to develop. Hard to imagine too many making the mega jump I felt Benny Parker made but I do feel confident that the coaches will help each player before the start of next season.
  21. You're absolutely right. He said everyone picked us too low last year and would probably pick us too high next year. The man knows his stuff!
  22. I read an newspaper article a while back where Miles had gone to watch one of Hammond's HS games and was quoted as saying that he would like to see (paraphrasing) Hammond RS because he was such a raw product and had really bad footwork that needed a lot of work. It would also give him a chance to add weight and get stronger to withstand the B1G style of play. While this certainly makes a lot of sense, what are the chances of Hammond redshirting?
  23. I respectfully disagree. He has consistently shown that he can recruit the kind of guys he needs to help him turn a program around. Plus he has obviously been able to get those guys to buy into his vision and plan, much like he did here. He did this at previous stops with woefully less than he has to sell here. I seen no reason why TM can't finally start landing those real difference makers that will take this program to level of success it has not seen before.
  24. Look at what he has to sell at Nebraska compared to what he had to sell at WIU. I would tend to think he will do just fine. You don't COY honors at 3 different conferences unless you have some skills in all areas of coaching including recruiting.
