Prove it; otherwise, we don't want you here.

In Kevin's defense, he's 12-of-15 from the line this year, or 80 percent. He hit 68 percent for us last year, so he's improving.

3-of-19? That's almost Cross-ian. @basketballjones

Norm "Schadenfreude" Peterson, am I right?

Interesting comment from Jon Sunvold

It would be true even if we had all of our players available from Day One. It's that much more difficult when players are trickling in a quarter or a third of the way through the season. I hope we can just find a way to win a game or two through the first 10-game conference stretch, and then shoot for .500 in the back half.. -
uneblinstu's postgame chatter: vol 13; ed 7 - vs. Doane

Fred actually said that Porter had personal business and that Pike Jr. wasn't available and that was all Fred would say about it. Fred didn't lump them together as the tweet implied. -

The bench was 9-14 from deep. Time to mix in some of that bench with our starters? -

"Showdown" is catchy and repeatable, unlike "Excuse to get Derrick Walker eligible a game earlier than otherwise expected." -
Yep. Move the 18-year old into a minor role and replace him with an even stronger 22-year old ASAP (Jan. 5) and a much taller and longer 19-year old, when he's fully in shape.

Then let's play a doubleheader!

Jacob, I appreciate what you're able to provide us, both here and on Hail Varsity. One of the first lessons in my sports writing class has to do with putting aside fandom and being an objective reporter. You do that, and you do it very well. My students are all massive Hawkeye homers, but I make sure they know they'll likely be in the same position you are, and I'll make sure they know how you and others do it without bias. Congratulations. -
The downside is that you can only stream on one device at a time. I tried to share it with my father. Now we text before the game to see who gets to watch and who has to listen. If it's women's basketball, he gets it. Volleyball, it's me. For men's basketball ... we'll have to see. I'm gonna log in and hope he's watching something else.

I like our chances. Doane has Mount Marty on Wednesday, then Briar Cliff on Saturday, so they may be looking past us to the Chargers.

You can choose the whole conference for $14.99 or a single team for $9.99. If you follow women's basketball or volleyball beyond UNL, it's worth it. Otherwise, not so much.

I'd like to hear from @Norm Petersonabout whether he's quick enough with his shot to get it off against quick and long defenses in the Big Ten. Or Doane.

Long season ahead, both literally and metaphorically. What we're learning is that, as enamored as we are of every signee and transfer that make up our roster, some may be proving themselves unlikely to be in the eight- or nine-man rotation of a competitive Nebraska team, which we envision as starting next year. I'm not going to sort out who those men are at this early date, and this current roster hasn't had time to prove itself as an amalgam yet. But I imagine that 2021-22 rotation may need only three or four of this year's rotation to make us into a team that doesn't get its doors blown off by ranked teams — and Georgia Tech. -
Agreed on every point, but I'd like to know who you think those six players will be next year who shoot between 31 and 46 percent from deep with at least 50 attempts each. And if those six (of the 10 below) are taking that many shots, is there room in the rotation for guys like Walker, Ouedraogo, Andre and Arop? B. McGowens T. How I loathe Creighton...(let us count the ways)
jayschool replied to Handy Johnson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
The guy I met in October one year at a Nebraska football game. It was two days before the traditional mid-October start to basketball practice, and a friend and I started discussing the greatness of Nate Johnson and how the Huskers might have a shot at the tourney this year. Another person — SOMEONE NEITHER OF US KNEW, but similarly dressed in red — butted in to tell us that he was a fan of "the only basketball team in the state that mattered: Creighton." THAT guy. -
In other words, are you a Nebraska fan or a Nebraska football fan?
