I don't believe the expectations are that high for him among the more knowledgeable fans. Anyone who's watched his high school or post-high school film knows that he's a raw talent who has a lot of work to do on his game, especially on the defensive side, and a difficult transition to make from New Zealand pro ball to US college ball.
It's not like folks are viewing him as a "one and done" guy or anything even remotely close to that. He's just a very talented but somewhat raw prospect who would contend for a starting spot if he gets cleared.
If anything, Fran Fraschilla has made by far the most hyperbolic statements about Tai.
