Grace Mitchell's Wellington team won their first round game today v. De Soto.

I was visiting my daughter in Salina today so took in the aforementioned game.  Close game and Grace had her usual 20 ptrs.  She can shoot from the outside but also drove to the hoop well.  Some one previously discussed Grace's team mate 6'1" junior Lauryn Snipes as having a lot of potential.  She looked to me to be the real deal as she was the glue that held their team together.  Good ball handler and defender as well.  Very athletic.  She will generate a lot of interest next year.

Grace Mitchell's Wellington team looses it's undefeated season tonight to the hands of Paola in the semi-finals of the Class4-A Kansas state high school basketball tourney. Grace scored 18 points and grabbed 9 boards. She played the game in foul trouble and fouled out midway through the fourth period. Wellington now plays tomorrow for third place.

Grace Mitchell's Wellington team finishes with the third place trophy in the Kansas Class 4-A consolation game. They beat Labette County 65-62 on a half court buzzer beater at the end of the game.

Even though it wasn't for the championship, what a way for a team to finish.
