big red22 Posted January 25, 2016 Report Posted January 25, 2016 I don't know how that is possible, but 8 minutes into the 2nd half Michigan was shooting 81%. How the hell you suppose to keep up with that. Listen to the game the commentator even says that. Nebraska basketball is getting fun to watch, and there are going to be games like that one, but there aren't many teams that can win when the opponent is shooting 81%. You take away the start of both halves we outplayed them. Quote

I said in a previous thread that other teams shoot better on us in the first half than in the 2nd, and the Michigan game showed that. It's probably a combination of coaching and having multiple freshman on the court at the same time as well as Michigan judt being white hot. And before anyone blasts me for calling out coaching, Tim did say he should have switched some of the match ups he had for that game. With that said, there's only so much he can do. The players have to go out and execute and they just made too many errors defensively Silverbacked1 1 Quote

Pretty amazing that Nebrasketball fought back to 64-66 with 3 minutes to go (really). And, there were three distinct Michigan runs that totaled 54-16 (18-6, 21-6, & 15-4) at the beginning of the game & 2nd half as well as the end of the 2nd half. Nebraska outscored UM 52-27 for the other 25 minutes of the game!! Silverbacked1, Noah121, Red Don and 1 other 4 Quote
HolyBobpilgrimage Posted January 29, 2016 Report Posted January 29, 2016 Yeah I really couldn't fault the huskers for that loss. They were just on point as they always are, which unfortunately in a conference like the B10 is more common than not with a lot of our elite teams. Nice thing is, this kind of elite status seems to be fluid, with new teams entering every year. Only takes a great recruiting class or two, a good fan base (we have) and a bit of luck in the close games and you have a juggernaut in the conference. Big gain/reward in such a good conference. For example, you saw how meteoric the rises of mich a few years ago, Purdue, Iowa and Maryland were this year. It's totally possible for us, and I feel like the vibe us good here in lincoln. We're still shaking off demons of the past, but we've made a lot of progress down this road already. Silverbacked1 and Red Don 2 Quote
1sdpad2 Posted January 29, 2016 Report Posted January 29, 2016 I'm sure NU has gone an 8 minute stretch shooting close to 80% before. They were not 81% for the entire game at that point. They were probably 55% or so for the game at that point in time. Still when a team makes 9 straight buckets in a row against you it has be pretty disheartening for the defense. It was amazing that it could have been a tie game with Shields making those FTs, NU was playing very solid to catch back up. I think NU will sneak a win in one of these next two games. The OF effeciency has been solid lately and the press might add a little something else to the mix. Quote
