I hope Havers has no ill effects from the game.  She flat got the stuffings not out of her a couple of times.  Not the type of team she matches up with very well.  On the other hand serious kudos to a true freshman coming off a torn ACL injury who doesn't seam intimidated by anybody however big they are.  Just keep working on those free throws.

Very early in the game when we (Jess) got her/our first points...(we were down about 8 or 10-0)...she didn't look at anybody...came from above the arc, and dribbled straight down the key and scored.  It was like she's not going to take it anymore, and went right to the hoop...and made a statement....for herself and the team. .....cut the BS..... .....We're here to play.

On Connie Yori's post game she was discussing why N. Romeo is becoming an improved 3 pt shooter.  She noted how she was able to read screens so much better then last year.  She said that being able to read the defense and set good screens was critical and that is why Rachel B. was in the game in the 4th qtr. because she was setting screens the best.

Looked to me like Burns really irritated Butts late in the game.

Did you see Butts give Burns a body shove when Butts walked past Burns, when Butts went out of the game in 4th qtr. ?  Did it right when the TV camera was on her.

Yes, I saw her bump her twice going out of the game. You could tell she Butts was seriously irritated with her.

From what little I've read about Rachel Blackburn (aka 'Burns') I think she'd take being 'butted' by Butts going off the court as a compliment that she did her job. (right dirrk?  ;))

I wouldn't mess with 'Burns'

wow-----thanks huskers for proving me wrong in my pool!

so very happy to be wrong! 5 turnovers? really? 5? very impressive compared to psu game. also rather impressive how huskers defense improved as game went on. quite a few of rutgers shots in the second half were contested, even though they knocked some down. not as many "easy" looks. i don't know if it frustrated rutgers the second half, or, it wore them down---especially 4th quarter.

i didn't agree with ref's decision on the "possible" flagrant foul. imo, should have been called---and i would say the same if it was a husker player in the same situation. to me, it was obvious the rutgers player knew what she was doing. i noticed on a free throw attempt that one of rutgers bigs (can't remember which one) was using her elbow in a rather blatant fashion. something could have been called there, too. rutgers will attempt to play street ball---they will push the limits.

This game reminded me of games we used to play in the Big 12. Once RT33 got off the bench the Huskers started to settle down and play a lot better. She's too valuable to be on the sideline. Hope her suspension is a thing of the past now! Then in the fourth quarter getting our original starting five back from what the Huskers went with in non-conference proved to be what it took to put this game away.

Natalie Romeo for ..........THREE!!  I'm getting to the point where I think every one of her long range bombs will hit the mark. She's really improved on both ends of the court and it's encouraging and fun to watch.

Jessica seems to be getting better every game too. The rough pounding underneath that Jessica receives game in game out is starting to go against what opponents think that they can do to slow her down. Hope this rigorous grind she's enduring doesn't wear her out come February. She just needs to get her free throws to go down on a more consistent basis.

Jess should have locked up her 7th B1G Freshman of the week award with her performances this past week, and should be in a battle with her own teammate NR05 for B1G Player of the week!

"Let's Go..."

Our Rachel's reply to Butz when Butz said to Rachel...  "You want to play dirty? I'll play dirty..."

Rachel isn't intimidated by those kids. I'm sure that's part of Rutgers' strategy...  They probably say... We'll go in to Lincoln and play rough with these hayseed/fly over kids.  I'm betting it will be a bit rougher in NJ.

I think the key shot of the game was Romeo's answering 3.  Rutgers had just hit their first three of the game and Nat ran down the court and hit an answering 3.

Needed that win.  Have to get to 10 conference wins.

Certainly not trying to offend anyone....but not sure it's even a strategy.....but I guess it is to some extent probably.

Kind of expect that kind of play from the current Rutgers team, and a couple of other schools. In Rutgers case, they play like... who they are. Street ballers..bangers, no holds barred. And at the same time they don't play much together as a team....rather look at me, me , me...shoot

It's up to the coach to "corral" that "energy" and focus/mold it into a team. Rutgers isn't in that place now. A good organized, skilled, and hard working "team" can beat a team like Rutgers.....and we did.

We'll probably see a reflection of ourselves a few times when we play from here on out.

I think Illinois and Penn State fit that mold as well IMO.

I'm watching the replay of last nights game and when the double foul occurred cincore was guarding #2. #2 was trying to get through the lane and cincore wouldn't let her so #2 started chest bumping her like 3 times there should have been a foul called at that point. end of story.

agree Penn St can develop an attitude. i think Illinois tries, but, it isn't working. imo, Rutgers is the worst, by far.

the only thing that may have saved that Rutgers player (for flagrant) was that Cincore's head/body was turned---but, i still think it should have been called.
