The Nebraska women’s basketball team closes its first half of Big Ten Conference play by traveling to Iowa on Saturday afternoon.Tip-off between the Huskers and the Hawkeyes is set for 2 p.m.

The Huskers head to Iowa after producing their best all-around performance with an 84-51 win over Michigan. All-American Jordan Hooper led the Big Red with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Hooper heads to Carver-Hawkeye arena averaging 19.4 points and 9.9 rebounds per game.

Junior forward Emily Cady has matched Hooper with a Big Ten-best nine double-doubles on the year, averaging 14.1 points and 9.4 boards per contest, including 15.1 points and 11.0 boards in Big Ten play.

Sophomore point guard Rachel Theriot has added 13.0 points and 6.2 assists on the season, after producing her first career double-double with 10 points and a career-high 11 assists against the Wolverines.

Iowa enters Saturday’s game with Nebraska as one of the Big Ten’s hottest teams, winning five of its last six conference games. The Hawkeyes improved to 5-3 in the Big Ten and 17-5 overall with a 64-56 victory at Minnesota on Wednesday to complete a season sweep of the Golden Gophers.

The primary reason for Iowa’s balance is junior point guard Samantha Logic, who is averaging 13.8 points, a team-best 6.5 rebounds and a Big Ten-leading 7.2 assists.

Nebraska leads the all-time series with Iowa, 10-7, including a 6-0 record as Big Ten Conference foes.

Hooper owns 35 career double-doubles and will tie Jennings in second on the NU all-time list with her next double-double. Hooper needs five to tie Griffin’s school-record 40. Hooper is tied with teammate Emily Cady for the Big Ten lead with nine double-doubles this season.

Emily Cady is tied for the conference lead with Michigan’s Cyesha Goree with 11.0 rebounds per league contest. Cady is also tied for 12th in Big Ten-only scoring (15.1 ppg) and ranks ninth in Big Ten-only assists (4.4 apg).  She ranks fifth in free throw percentage (.905) in conference play, while ranking in the top 15 in both blocked shots and assist-to-turnover ratio.

"We're feeling pretty good about ourselves right now. We have some good momentum," UI head coach Lisa Bluder said Thursday at a news conference in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. "We know Nebraska is coming to town and they have been a thorn in our side."

A big, big, big thorn.

"Since they have been in the Big Ten (2010) we have not gotten a victory against them yet," Bluder said. "Here is a great opportunity for us playing at home. We're going to have a great crowd, they have a lot of great promotions going."

It is Iowa's final home regular-season weekend game and the UI Marketing Department is pulling out all the stops: Pack the House, Dollar Dog Day, Girl Scout Day, and National Girls & Women in Sports Day. If that isn't enough, fans will see two of the top teams in the league: Iowa is third at 17-5 overall, 5-3 in the Big Ten; Nebraska is sixth at 14-5, 4-3. The Hawkeyes have won three games in a row and five of their last six.

"You have some of that intensity to play them," Logic said. "It's a new team, a new season, so you can't think too much about those six (losses) and you can't get too hyped up about it either. You have to play your game and come out with a win somehow."

Some teams just have that nac for beating another team no matter what And Nebraska has that in Iowa & Michigan. It's the same way with Purdue beating the Huskers, The Huskers just can't seem to get over the hump against them.

A win today would continue the boost of confidence this team needs, not the least keeping us in the race for a bye in the conference tournament.  Iowa seems to be very motivated. Today's game is huge.

Tee is really coming on strong.

Couldn't be happier to see it.

And someone on here said she hasn't improved her game from last year. Also Iowa is getting home cooking Huskers could be ahead by 20 to 30 if the game is called both ways.

Not quite a direct quote, but I'm more than pleased to be somewhat guilty as charged, and quite wrong. One of the critiques was directed at inconsistency--until recently, we didn't know what we get from T on a given night. A lot of disappearing acts. But now, with about 5 straight games of excellent production, that doesn't seem to be problem. It is awesome to see a substantial improvement in her game in her third year.

The same thing could be said for Hooper, Cady, Theriot etc.

Game update: Huskers led by as many as 19, but two consecutive triples drew Iowa to 64-49... and then it counts and a foul.  64-51 with Jordan Hooper being charged with the foul.  We're at the 8-minute timeout.

Great win. And it's never bad beating Iowa. 7-straight-times.

The byes helped. This staff has always been good at figuring out how a team has to play based on what is or isn't in the cupboard, and adjusting accordingly. These folks can coach.

I keep thinking Yori needs to go  back to the zone that she played last year Thoughts.

all i can say is wow.

if it were not for the quick 5 fouls on B and T, we'd have blown them out soundly.  reasoning we started playing off Miss Logic.  Playing on ball getting in her grill and making her implode would have been nice.  T and Coach Yori are figuring out how to use all that speed.  By my count that makes a 4th scoring option.  Miss Hooper looks to be coming out of the 3 or 4 game funk.  With all that in mind we are looking to be the team we hoped coming into the season.

Another road win against Ms Bucky Badger will be a further boost to confidence and conference standings.  I don't know where the good play is coming from, but keep it going Huskers!

This years Huskers are a bit like last years team where they didn't hit their stride until this time, And we know how that turned out. I'm not saying that this years team can make that run but you never know.

No doubt on the home cooking. This could have easily been a blow out.

Got to think that Tee has been showing up in practice though as she's been getting more and more minutes, or at least it seems that way. And this is one time where I wasn't nervous at all when Rachel went out. Tee just making really good decisions.

If we got 4 scorers on the floor tho...and Hailie doing her thing with some bench help, could contend after all.

Sample actually hit a 15 footer today wish she could do more of that then the other team would have to play her honestly.
