My guess is Oregon can't veto adding the Beavs for baseball fast enough.  But it'd be cool if the B1G gave the Ducks the middle finger and did it anyway to boost the conference's profile. With the new roster / scholarship rules coming, this is the chance for the B1G to take a step forward. Adding OSU would be a smart idea.

Hope the boys playing for Bolt have a good year. It's been a lot of fun lately to watch NU men's teams that are (generally) winning a bunch of home games.

Five weeks from opening day - glad we hung on to Sanderson & didn't lose him in the transfer portal - I expect we'll see a bit of a power surge from him this season vs last year.

And Christo probably won't even be in our weekend rotation - it'll be nice to have an arm like his out of the bullpen whenever needed.

Nice! Oregon is the only other B1G team on the list at #12.

 

We'll get tested out of conference - LSU is #3, Oregon St is #7, Vandy is #16. I'm a little surprised Irvine didn't make it.

Heard that the initial plans for the B1G are to follow the same scholarship rules that the SEC uses in 2025-26 - the SEC is leaning toward 25 scholarships to distribute among the 34 players. I doubt every B1G team would fund 25 scholarships, but I'm pretty confident that NU will. 

 

Hopefully the B1G follows thru on this plan - having a new B1G commissioner who understands baseball is a huge boost versus having someone like Kevin Warren in charge.

Kinda wish we had a power-hitting right-handed hitter to play 1st base vs LHP. Otherwise, a good mix of lefties and righties. A veteran lineup that could do some damage. And there will probably be a freshman or two that forces his way into the lineup. It's one of the most veteran rosters we've had, though.

Just a numbers thing I think - they had to get down to 40 and they were carrying 5 or 6 more than that in the fall. He just wasn't effective enough last spring, and I don't think it was much better in the fall. 

 

Will be more to cut next season when they have to get down to a 34-player roster limit.

Long ways away and a lot of work, but we have a schedule that does have us set up to host at least a regional this year.
