Husker defenders...would love some fan input

I have a collegiate basketball game that I have dabbled in over the years and I am currently in the rewrite process. Part of that process is updating the card set for the most recently played Big Ten season. Most of the cards are based on objective statistical output, but there is one set of ratings that I need some help with, and that is defensive value. I know there are a number of defensive metrics out there, but all include elements such as steals, rebounds, blocked shots, etc. and those are already accounted for in the game. What I am looking for is how effective a player is at locking down, not getting lost, and forcing opponents to take contested shots. In other words, NOT including the measurables.

I know it was an improved year for the Huskers on the defensive end, and I know what the raw metrics say, but I do think getting the input from those of you who watch with a more critical eye has some value.

 

As a non-Husker fan viewing casually and after doing some research, here is how I would roughly rate them, from best to worst. Any I am way off base on? Tweaks? Disagreements?

Your rankings look pretty close to me.  Griesel might be a little high as he struggled with quick guards, but then again he was playing out of position as a point guard.  Tominaga can be a liability but will also  make some plays as a defender.

Is this list as you have it, good to worse? If so Hoiberg needs to be higher IMO.

Agree that Hoiberg needs to be higher. He is on the court because of things that can't be measured.

Lawrence was better on D than Dawson & Griesel. Tough to ascertain overall defensive prowess when F/C's and G/W's are intermingled, tbh. 

 

If separated, I'd say it's Gary, Keita, Walker, then skip a beat... Goggles aka Breidenbach.

 

And, for the remainder, I thought it was Bando, Lawrence, Hoiberg, Griesel or Dawson, then skip a beat... Wilcher & Tominaga.

 

Looking back at the OP's initial rankings compared to my separated list, I had it the same order for the bottom 3 & top 2 overall, but the middle is a bit muddled.

Yes. It is a modified version of that exact game...some things changed...some things added, etc.
