jason2486 Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 I know this isn't anything new, but tonite once again proved how unathletic (and lacking of a bench obviously) that we are. Not to take anything away from Wisconsin, because they're very good, but I wouldn't put them in the top half of the league athleticism-wise. Its not what lost us the game, but I am sick of watching our guys get blocked over and over and over and over going to the hoop. And it scares me somewhat that Shavon, who is my favorite players and probably our 2nd best overall player already, can't take it stronger to the rim. I have yet to see him dunk it yet. And Rivers is a similar story. Quote
uneblinstu Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 The depth is a bigger issue than the athleticism. The five that started are athletic enough, but there has to be more than those five or they'll hit a will pretty quickly, especially when the home team has five days off. I'm not saying they're athletic as the top teams in the league, but they're not unathletic. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 Yeah, well, we kinda knew that going in. I think there was an article earlier this season in the Lincoln paper where one of the guys was quoted as saying that our (three?) most athletic players were sitting on the bench as redshirts this year. Help is coming on the athleticism front. And it'll really help when we have an actual bench. Our starters getting 30+ minutes a game each is taking its toll. They've got to be gassed. Long season. 49r Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 Norm, I was about to say: Pitchford. Petteway. Biggs. Hawkins. Fuller. Webster. Norm Peterson 1 Quote

Milk Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 Next opponent Illinois has a week off before they play us on Saturday too.. Unreal Quote
FredsSlacks Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 Norm, I was about to say: Pitchford. Petteway. Biggs. Hawkins. Fuller. Webster. not so sure the bottom 3 are real athletic, but they are all around players.. The top 3 are probably more athletic than anyone on the team now. Those six should mix in well. Quote
trickey Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 Next opponent Illinois has a week off before they play us on Saturday too.. Unreal In case anybody in the world did not get the memo...The BIG set up the Husker schedule for football and basketball so there was NO way we could win... Why they worried about basketball, I do not know...except it helps prove the theory. Now, our cycle will get easier...but, I am sure, in roundball, we NEED to get significantly better. I trust TM to make it happen! P.S. Tim Miles...Taylor Martinez...who I was talking about is up to you...GBR...GATA! X2 Quote
uneblinstu Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 No it wasn't. We made it to the Big Ten title game. And, all things considered, we got a fairly favorable hoops sked his year with a home and home vs. PSU, home vs. NW and only one gm vs. Indiana and Mich. We just aren't a good team, that's not the conference's fault. Quote
