mwm89 Posted February 4, 2022 Report Posted February 4, 2022 Extremely pleased to get 4 Ws in an 8 day stretch. They were indeed blessed that they were all at home. It was perhaps a little cringeworthy at times in each of those, but they got through unscathed. The 3q stretch into the 4th was worrisome, but they kept their composure and went back on the attack offensively especially. Weidner's energy and aggressiveness was really beneficial. I hope a day's rest is enough to take the fight to Maryland on Sunday. Tough road stretch, but keep fighting and playing as a team. GBR!! Cazzie22, Red Don, 12dozen and 1 other 1 3 Quote

caveman Posted February 4, 2022 Report Posted February 4, 2022 If you look across the entire stat line, it was a much closer game than it should have been. I think we should start stuffing the ballet for the sixth man of the year award. Miss Weidner has been the spark that put us over the top 2 of the last 3 games. Jaz with the standard double/ double. In truth I do not think we can win against MU or IU, if she does not start looking for and finding her shot. Nice to Issie back to being Issie and at a good. Her playing good allows Miss Markowski to be a match up problem and I do think she has the potential to be a match up problem for MU. mwm89 and 12dozen 2 Quote

She only took 6 shots this game, and all from "3" range. Zero free throws. Hard to complain about the assists, but would like to see her attacking the rim , and stop and popping some "2's". mwm89 1 Quote
Tom Jones Posted February 4, 2022 Report Posted February 4, 2022 Fashion question: In last night's game, both teams wore their team colors - PSU in blue and Huskers in red. I noticed in another Big Ten game a few days ago that both teams were in their school colors. I have been watching for years and became accustomed to seeing the home team in white and visitors in team colors. I came to believe that this was a rule. Anybody know .... was it a rule that has now been changed or is it just a custom? Quote

The reason for Nebraska red last night was there was a red out in the arena. Nebraska could wear red because Penn St blue did not clash. Quote

I think a large part of the reason is that we missed a number of easy shots under and around the basket throughout most of the game that we would normally make, and would have put the game largely out of reach. Maybe it's the 4 games in 8 days that were taking their toll, but we can't expect to win unless we make those 'gimme's. I don't remember exactly where I heard it (maybe Coach's press conference) but I thought it was indicative of the coaching they're getting when she said that Coach Love (I think) was coaching Allison Weidner (naturally aggressive anyway) to go to the rim, coaching her that they can't stop her! I think that's when they were talking about her going to the rim for a basket near the end of the game, instead of stopping short and taking a trey, which if missed could have resulted in a score at the other end and a tight(er) game. Then Weidner had that steal and run to the rim for another basket at the end! Edited February 4, 2022 by Red Don Cazzie22 1 Quote
