This has been a very disheartening stretch.  I'm still annoyed by the draw against RSL a few matches back, as I don't think either RSL goal was clean.  First looked like offsides to me, and the second was a foul to win the ball and create the breakaway goal.  And living in RSL Country that match always carries extra weight for me.

 

Last night's loss was a gut punch but at least we can't blame the refs for it.

Such an interesting international window.  We did what we were supposed to do, but it doesn’t feel like we created any buzz.  It just feels like the re-hire of Greg really took some wind out of sails.

 

Fortunately, we have the raw talent to play with anyone even if the system stinks.

 

Was fun to watch a few young guys get some quality PT.  That top 3 of Weah, Puli, and Balo is going to be so fun to watch over the next 4+ years.  Pepi will be a solid second striker to have on the roster and continues to score.

 

Overall, a “meh” window for the USMNT.  Looking forward to that October window against some better competition.  Hopeful to have Gio back for that one.

And meanwhile, Mexico can only muster a draw against Uzbekistan. If “meh” means outscoring your opponents 7-0 while watching your rival embarrass themselves, then I’ll take “meh” any day.

This is true.  Maybe it’s because these results are kind of “expected” with this group.  It’s a fun place to be really.  Not that you should ever take any international game lightly,  but there also isn’t a team in the world that we could put our best 11 against that I would be “scared” to play.

 

No— I don’t think that means we beat Argentina or France 50% of the time… but I also don’t think it would take a miracle for us to beat those teams either at this point and with this team.
