I agree it is tough enough to see the ex on campus, but to see them everyday at practice...

I wouldn't say you couldn't date, but know that it might cause really tough times for you and others later.

My son started dating a girl at his work,  worked together, ate together...  when they broke up it was cool, they are still best friends and they handled very well.

I didn't tell him till after the fact that he really shouldn't have dated her because of them being together so much.

I think it also worked out that they are both in their late 20's and had dated other people before.

I will also add I have three sons and if they ever abused a girl they would be delivered to the front door of the girl's dad by me.  And then let the chips fall.

They're not paid but they can choose to be on a team or choose not to be on a team. If they're on a team, then there are issues of cohesion and chemistry and esprit de corps that don't apply to the student body at large.

Sure, it would be a fantastic thing not to have domestic violence. Sadly, it's a non-solution to suggest "well, if guys just didn't hit girls, it wouldn't be a problem." While that's true, you can't just sweep domestic violence away by message-board fiat. That's like suggesting that the way to solve world hunger is by just having people eat more. We're leaving out a few details on exactly how that's going to work.

Having said that, the domestic violence was an issue vis-a-vis this one particular guy she was dating. It wasn't the reason the University got sued. Let me repeat that: The domestic violence was NOT the reason she's suing the University. The reason the University got sued was because of the way she was treated by other male student athletes on the track team AFTER she filed her domestic violence complaint.

Obviously, whatever the situation was, it caused turmoil within the team. I'm sure the track coaches would have just as soon there not be any dating and breaking up and drama within the team. Maybe they could fix that drama issue by just banning intra-squad dating.

I guess we just agree to disagree. And if you feel in love with someone on your team and you wanted to honor the rules don't you think someone quitting the team would cause a distraction? And finally having a rule doesn't prevent people from having relationships; it might even encourage it.

I met my wife in extra curricular activities in high school. I am glad the was no rule against it back then.

Besides, while the policy might affect mostly just the gay or bi players, it's clearly not intended to discriminate.  The purpose of the policy has nothing to do with discriminating against gays but just keeping things away from the office.

Intent is irrelevant.  Throughout time, and especially during the civil rights movement, laws were thrown out or declared invalid because while the legislation itself was nondiscriminatory, the result of the legislation had a disparate impact against one particular group.

Employer rules and regulations are routinely rejected by the NEOC and similar state orgs daily because the law has a disparate impact against a particular protected class.

Sounds like a textbook retaliation claim.  Party witnesses/experiences illegal behavior, party complains about behavior, coworkers treat complainant like crap while supervisors encourage the treatment or do nothing to stop it.

Declining to renew the girls scholarship after she reports an attack is never going to pass any smell test.

Show me a law or a rule that does NOT have a disparate impact.

Are you one of those people who think that landlords shouldn't be able to request credit scores/reports of prospective tenants because minorities tend to have worse credit?

If so, explain to me what part of credit reporting takes into account a person's race.

Nope, just explaining how the law works  ;)

No but did in college, made it tough to go to class and to the bars at night because she would be there.  No I have been with my wife for 36 years, married 31 of those and dated for 5 years.  This was pre-wife. :)
