uneblinstu's postgame chatter : vol 17; ed 8 - Michigan St
Raidsker replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I was not expecting that. MSU looked fast and super athletic and were clicking on offense. Hitting 3's and only 1 misses FT. We will see but that looked like a very good Izzo team. We looked totally baffled on offense. I have a feeling we are going to see some of this... if the 3 isn't falling can we move the ball enough or get to the rim enough to stay in it. Overall is MSU elite athletically or are we a little slow out there? I think MSU is very athletic. That will cause some problems for us all year. -

Weird Connor wasn't in on last play when we had to have a 3. I thought that was his main role. -
A reminder from January that only top 15 teams get into the conference tournament. So step one is win enough to be safely above that. https://x.com/BigTenNetwork/status/1752382180138086619?t=RwolfXJ-DnC_TVQeWvDoaw&s=19

Saw 12th and thought seemed too low. However seeing it laid out with 18 teams is basically middle of the pack. Top 5, middle pack 6-12, bottom 5 (or 6).

This is a dumb topic but Neb definitely needs to add UNMC to UNL. It would just be an administrative change. Sports bring in a lot of money but research is where the real money for universities. When you hear sports talk idoits say things like "no one pays to watch people play with beakers and bunson burners." That may be true but people pay billions to figure stuff out. Adding UNMC would probably add about $200M to UNL total. Still last but much closer to next one. I don't believe any other B1G school does not have a medical school which isbthe big driver here.

I want all the onions! -
With unbalanced schedules across the entire season how would you account for strength of schedule then?
-
Not get blown out when you do lose... it is hard to come back from that... the math doesn't forget. Nebraska - Losses: 9 by 125 pts total with 6 by double digits Wisconsin - Losses: 12 by 114 pts total with 4 by double digits Mich St ‐ Losses: 13 by 90 pts total with 3 by double digits

Admitting affair under oath and paying for an abortion apparently still more enjoyable than coaching this St. Johns team. https://www.cnn.com/2017/09/27/sport/rick-pitino-scandal-history/index.html

It says right there - development... bringing in the donations. I'm sure the rest of it matters very little...as long as it is functional. -
Hank's problem appears to be not going by an initial. L. Dennis you may remember best as an Obelmeyer cartoon robot. Trying to confirm this however lead me down this rabbit hole... http://nealo.com/2000/01/18/the-danny-nee-cartoon-jan-18-20

Just fyi. Hank was not "president of UNL" closest to that would be Ronnie Green as chancellor. Hank was over the NU systems... all the campuses. I can't even name the guy before him... unless is was smith something or other.
-
Ole Miss currently has an interim chancellor... he was on the IHL board that oversees it before. It would appear a step down but if it's closer to family funnier things have happened.

Yeah so you probably have 20 teams that think they should win one every year. Then 50 that think they should win every three. You are saying we can't be a top 70 program out of what over 300?
-
Ok. Riley is slightly better too right? So they are pretty good comparison is what you are saying?
-
That's fair. I did ask the two questions in the initial response - my sandwich was burning on some of these. :) But Norms response was to say we are more successful over 30 years at football so we should have higher expectations for our football while implying basketball has not had that success so we should have lower expectations. To me this is being the oregon st of basketball so that is what I took him to say. Otherwise why would he ask me to compare the success across sports? If not what did you take being the oregon st of basketball to mean?
-
I didn't bring up OUR football past but oregon st's football success or lack there of, and comparing the success of coaches across sports. Yes there could a discussion around the validity of such a comparison across sports but I think the two programs offer a good parallel. My main realization was Miles has a worse winning percentage than Riley at Oregon state and there are people that are fine with that for the fleeting moments of success and because they like his personality. The flip side is Oregon state was best at football when they found a different coach then reverted eventually when Riley came back.
