  1. Struggle understanding the 1-year deal, but whatever. Moos was in an awkward position. He's going to be criticized no matter what. Don't think Miles leaves for another school. Even with a good year (NCAA bid and win) next year, that brings his tenure here up to mediocre on the surface. No other blue blood is coming in offering $2.5MM+ for a guy who is barely over .500. And if he does that...that makes two years in a row where we don't suck. I think that's a big thing the administration is looking for. Can we sustain anything? Have we built anything? Through 6 years, the answers to those questions are...no. IMO, I think the admin wants to see a foundation built. Some stability. Some consistency. They don't want simply a flash in the pan year every 4-5 years. Should Miles be successful next year, that's two in a row and gives the appearance there is some substance there. Personally, I don't see it ending well. And thought that before and after the extension debate. I think Copeland is gone. Even with Roby and Palmer back....that leaves us incredibly thin in the front court. Jordy isn't good and Roby is terrific. But one good player to man 80 minutes of frontcourt time a game isn't a good thing. And we essentially stopped recruiting this class in January and only hope would be a grad transfer (whom we haven't heard about us even going for from a big man perspective yet). Coupled with the lack of front court depth, we still aren't a great shooting team. Never thought, despite the success, we were a great team this last year. We were talented, but felt too often the sum was less than the individual parts, even in our wins. And the fact that as of this point, we will be a less talented team than last year, coupled with a corrected Big 10 and I don't feel great about us doing great things. Don't think the contact extension conversation applies to 2018-2019. It will the years following due to recruiting high school talent.
  2. It's only $105K a month. A little over 1.2MM for that year. That's nothing to a school. If someone wants Miles, that is a total non-issue.
  3. He makes a lot of money and there’s been little reason for confidence.
  4. Well..if he goes 24-11 and wins a tourney game next year....he's going to get a multi-year extension and the money. Even if he's done that, he's still not done enough to get an offer from a big boy and highly doubt he leaves this place for less money and the same tenured deal.
  5. I think assistants (and coaches in general) know the name of the game. You win, you stay. You lose, goodbye. There are always guys changing jobs moving in and out every year.
  6. $2.5MM or more, creates a lot of "want to be here" There still won't be a ton of jobs coming around offering him that much.
  7. I really don't know how people can blame Miles for the RPI thing. Scheduling wasn't the issue. We beat UCF and Minnesota and Northwestern do what they were expected to do and our SOS/RPI is quite a bit higher.
  8. Don't think it impacts recruiting this spring that much since we are going after more transfers but it will/could hurt 2019's class and the fact that we will likely have a lot of openings for it as well. But it's also the same spot he was in entering last year though as well. As far as recruiting goes, considering Hunter's impact, that hire of the assistant coach may carry more weight.
  9. Why would Palmer leave now and not before
  10. AFAIC, Miles is in over his head as far as building a program is concerned and the situation was made worse by Eichorst’s actions now Moos is in a situation where he’s damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t and it’s all a mess
  11. I’d agree. Mostly because I think people can see that we could be successful. Under Doc it was just apathy.
  12. Like I said, my preference would’ve been a shirt extension for optics. But I also understand the hesitancy. Be a lot easier to be critical if he came in on level footing. The deck was stacked against him.
  13. Much easier to hate Moos than know the reality of the situation
  14. I think he has a shot. But it's dependent on production. He wins 20 next year with a tourney bid and its real tough to fire the guy. My preference wouldve been to see Moos add 2 years onto his contract, but I'm not bent out of shape on that considering the situation he was put into and other things he's been dealing with/facing. I'll base my opinion on Moos based on what he does with what appears to be a likely transaction next March/April
  15. Maybe he couldn’t get someone who he liked this year and with the potential possibly returning he thought it was better to give one more shot than hire another crapshoot, tying us up for 6 more years
  16. Pretty sure Oregon had One tourney bid in the previous 35 years before Kent.
  17. All on Miles Moos has been here just over 5 months and has had much bigger fires to put out not to mention being put in a very difficult position by eichorst. It was a lose lose situation for Moos no matter what he fires Miles, he just fired a 22 win coach who turned out the 3rd best regular season win total in school history. He extends him, the same people criticizing him now for not doing it, will be complaining about him next year when he likely has to make a change. As mentioned, very perplexing and inexcusable that Miles doesn’t have a relationship with him. Also, maybe it’s me, but I tend to think the guy directly responsible for the hoops program, who has been here for 6 years, most of them unproductive, deserves far more skepticism on the matter over the guy who has been here for 5 months while mostly dealing with other things
  18. Requested and received his release
  19. We should be looking at offering too...we'll have the room
  20. Yep and it’s not like we didn’t have someone try to transfer mid season as well. We shoujd be recruiting for two spots at a minimum
  21. Was surprised to see it. But they are recruiting well so they'll find someone
  22. Not to mention 3 guys who have put in their names for professional consideration. We won't lose all 3 but we'll lose at least one.
  23. Heiman signed in November
