Don't think the refs cost us the game by any means....but that sequence of fouls (2 on Palmer, 1 on Borchardt) is why there needs to be a change. The charge/block call is the worst call in sports. There is no consistency to it. It is easy to manipulate (flopping). Their needs to be an evolution in how it's called. Charging should only be called if it is egregious.

Texas Tech (4-0) vs. Nebraska (4-0) Game Thread

On one hand, I agree. 80% of the season is still in front of you. On the other hand, this season was supposed to be different and last night did not look different. In fact, it looked eerily similar. It's only one game/data point, but that's all we really have to go by right now. -
Other thing to keep in mind about Roby and the next level is that he will be playing his position there. Not out of position at the 5.
-
I won't book it yet. Here's why. I don't see alot of middle ground with him and our performance this year. If the season goes as we hope, we make the dance and we only do that with him being very good and efficient. Or, if he's not,, if he's like tonight, we don't dance and we are having a coaching search. Will he stick around for that?

Texas Tech (4-0) vs. Nebraska (4-0) Game Thread

I was very very pleased with what we did the first 4 games. Those teams weren't good, but we beat them the way we should. Had me believing we truly had turned the corner and were a good team Then tonight happened. We may very well end up being a good team. But right now we have one measuring point against good competition and we looked like a joke. And that's with the most talented team we've had in a generation, with lots of experience. That's not encouraging. I fear we are going to end up being a talented team where the sum of the whole is less than the sum of the individual parts. We are way too talented and experienced to look that bad. That's concerning. There is/was zero excuse for this tonight. It's early, We can rebound. But as Dave said in the other thread, we just gave away one of the two non-con games we could afford to lose. No margin of error in losing to Creighton or Okie State now. Also makes me nervous, because if we do trip up against Creighton....the hot seat is going to be piping (and that's fair) and I worry what that does to us the rest of the year -

Massively disappointing game. First good team we play and we get totally outclassed. And Tech is only a middle of the pack Big 12 team -

Still have a few concerns about us once we faced upper level competition, but again...we are doing what good teams are supposed to do. Very exciting to see. -

You aren't alone -
If we're 10-2 going to Maryland, I'll be tickled. Think 9-3 should be the expectation with this squad at worst.

No. Most good teams play their core lots of minutes. Worrying about playing guys minutes is a farce. There have been a lot of Duke and Kansas teams that won 30+ games that only played 6-7 guys. -

Terrific effort. We have some warts still, but we are doing the things that good teams do. Beating bad teams badly. Putting away ok teams. Overcame some hiccups (ref-related) in the second half that could have caused some major swings and took control. Long, filthy defense thus far. Exciting to watch -

I agree and was saying so last spring. This is why I think it was nothing short of negligent to go after any type of grad transfer big last spring. -

No one was putting a gun to our head forcing us to do so. -

Think Brady has already shown/demonstrated some things that Jordy never did. Like hands, footwork, court awareness. Jordy still has the mass advantage over Brady though. -

Very pleased that we dismantled a team that we should have beat. Very nice to see for a change -

2018 G Xavier Johnson - Decommit to Pitt

I'd lean towards this. Johnson is a much better player now. Harris size and length gives him a chance to be better in the long run. Wish we wouldn't have lost Johnson. But think Harris is a legitimate consolation prize. -
Yep. Their competition was Jordy, who they were both better than.
-
Roby was also a wing at the time. I think at a minimum...one of them is starting.
-
Considering their choices of where to transfer....the fear excuse doesn't match up. They transferred to better programs (which generally means better talent) at the time they left. They would've gone mid-major if they were scared of talent and wanted a guaranteed starting job
