rey is who he is. He's finishing up his 4th year on campus. He's not going to be a different player next year. Jeter improved but he had only been on campus one year, not 4...and safe to say he was the exception not the norm. Rey isn't going to suddenly become some great player. He's going to be a guy who plays solid defense, doesn't handle the ball well and will have some nights where he melts the nets and others where he couldn't make a lay-up. The key is going to be if we can surround him with enough help so that when he does have his off-nights..they don't impact us so heavily.

I'd say it's unlikely. Don't think it is a 100% given.

I could see your point more if he gained the weight while here. He was overweight before he ever got here which is it was a questionable (at best) offer to begin with

Wow! You're really counting on a freshman being ready to play the 2 at the start of B1G season? I think you're crazy. Isn't Shields starting this year, without the benefit of most of the non-conference? Isn't Gesell starting at the point for Iowa? I can name a few other freshmen that start in this league. Not a given, but it's not like we are uber-talented in front of them

Dont want to see a makeover. 1-2 leaving isnt a makeover though and may not be a bad thing. Parker and Vucevic are the obvious two. Id prefer keeping Vucevic over Parker. Wouldnt bother me at all if Parker leaves...in fact...probably a good thing. I guess I should also say...that I don't mind if Parker comes back for 2013-2014 and then leaves for the next year freeing up a spot

Webster or Pitchford. Pitchford is going to be our only interior option. He'll get a lot of minutes. Webster will have the ball in his hands the most and if the hype is legit, he can create and shoot.

Will go for year 4. I think we will see what we've seen in Miles past stops. A steady build and climb. Next year we will be above .500 overall and win 5-7 league games. Year 3 will be an NIT-type year where we win 18-20 games and 7-8 league games. Year 4 will be the year when we are the most loaded and experienced talent wise and when we finally break through.

Shavon is going to have a solid career here for us. That being said...the comparison to Pierce seems a bit much at the moment

My vote was take Thomas and Atewe if you can land both. Holding a scholarship back is never a wise idea. Taking a guy just to fill it isn't wise either. If you have two guys that are remotely talented...then take them and let next year sort itself out

Generally speaking, over the past 5 years, people blamed Doc for premature attrition, not player choice. That may be accurate and it might not be. I don't know. But anytime the subject of player turnover came up, there were plenty of people who said that Doc kept pushing people out rather than developing them. That he'd miss on a recruit and push them out the door. That kind of thing. My perception of this staff, from what was said at that meet and greet, is that they don't have the luxury of doing that even if they wanted to. Now, between now and the 2014 recruiting class early signing period (this coming November) there just aren't a lot of guys who might transfer of their own volition. Where's Ray Gallegos going? Anywhere? Not likely. Nor Shields, nor Rivers, nor any of the three guys sitting out right now as transfers. That leaves Benny and Sergej. ACAG said very clearly the coaches are behind Sergej, like his upside, and think he'll develop. Sergej isn't getting pushed out any doors. Will Benny depart on his own? Maybe if he thinks that there will be too much competition for minutes at point guard. But, again, he won't get pushed out the door. I might have thought Sergej would be a guy that they might tell to look for places where he'd be a better fit. But the ACAG said the APR puts us in a position where we really can't have much turnover, if at all. From my experience with Doc, he didn't "push players out." Some weren't getting the PT they wanted, Doc told them they had to get better and play better in practice or they would continue riding pine. If they'd rather transfer than work to earn the position, Doc would help them pack. There might be a couple of exceptions, but the majority thought they should be playing more and Doc thought otherwise. And to be fair....looking at his results...a couple of them were right

It's not just for some reason. The reason is that they recruit top talent and have a good coach. Miles is a good coach but inherited a mess talent wise.

Never doubt Vegas. Minnesota is a real good team. On top of that...they were a horrible matchup for us.

Looking at an assist to turnover ratio from one-year at JUCO probably isn't the best thing to go off of. It's all I have to go by and I'd trust it more than most high school stats. Gallegos redshirted for the exact same reason and didn't really solve the issue. Parker won't be the only guy to play PG next year, Biggs, Webster and perhaps even Gallegos will get time there, but I think a healthy Parker gets a pretty decent chunk of time there. Didnt he redshirt because he wasnt going to play much last year? I don't think you will see much of Parker next year. The story I remember was he sat out because he wanted to get stronger and develop his game. I remember an article about him learning to play the point. I'm sure playing time was part of the equation as well, though there was playing time to be had last year. He likely wasn't going to be beating out Spencer, Richardson, Talley for alot of time last year. He may have played some but it was likely going to be in a supporting role
