A good set of NIL questions. I'm sure most of us are wondering the same thing. The way things are going the answer to those questions will change year to year unless someone sets rules that all schools must follow but the reason we are in this situation is because schools were not following the rules set down by the NCAA and the NCAA did not consistently enforce the rules.

I think we can copy and paste this statement for every basketball player today. ( at about any level)

Brice Williams named to the B1G 1st Team

Really a big achievement considering only 6 make it as a first teamer in an 18 team conference. -
Why does the Crown Tournament in Vegas not start until March 31?

Agreed. I argue enough with my wife the way it is, no need to argue on this board! -

Losing our All American pitcher and one of our top relievers does not help a team who's big bats are struggling. -

You did list it as an achievement to go 7-6 with a bowl win. The basketball team basically did that while beating much better teams than the football team. That was my point. Apples to apples, the basketball team had a better year. -
Where It Went Wrong (Maybe) -- Some Stats
Navin R. Johnson replied to hskr4life's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I said at the beginning of the year that Berke and GG were wild cards. If they played well, we could be pretty tough. I thought GG would be better than Berke. GG was a non-factor and Berke was up and down and did not shoot it as well as hoped. Shooting was the ultimate downfall. I thought (hoped) that Coach could improve Rollie and Berke into decent shooters. Did not happen. If Connor could guard better and GG could guard better we would be a different team as well. Did not happen. I also hoped Morgan would be able to knock down a 3 once in a while if teams did not guard him outside the paint. Did not happen. I hoped Rollie and Uhlis would be the point guards we have been missing that last few years. Did not happen. Gary did not seem to be as active on the boards as past years as well, although it is tough to knock him as he had a good year. We really waisted a phenomenal year from Brice. Teams solved our defense and we never seemed to adjust to their adjustments. How many steals did our D make at the end of the season on long skip passes compared to earlier? (and I'm not talking about the out of conference schedule) -

I agree if you are talking about expectations. The basketball team had higher expectations than the football team. If you look at it from the same expectations the basketball team had a better season. Opponents records matter as it determines the strength of a team's schedule. Non-playoff bowl games are meaningless. People try to compare making a bowl game to making the NCAA tournament in basketball and that is ridiculous. You only have to have a .500 record (or less) to make a bowl game. If you are a bad to average team that makes a bowl game you get to play another bad team. When you make the NCAA you are seeded against very good teams. We won 22 games a few years ago and didn't even sniff an NCAA tournament bid. It is much harder to make the NIT than a bowl game. -

I was thinking the same thing. In my mind, the basketball team had a better season than the football team. -

It would be helpful if you could put $ amounts next to their names. -

I always said I didn't expect Nebraska to be a top 20 team every year, but if we could be competitive and make the dance or be close to it regularly, I would be happy. As frustrating as the end of this season was, we have had three straight seasons that I would have been fine with a few years ago. I certainly don't want to start over with a new coach. Yes, I do think we were out coached today but it happens. The Big Ten was extremely competitive and balanced this year and we were still just a couple open shots by a couple of our best shooters away from the tournament. Hopefully Coach has some transfers in his pocket ready to play next year. -

A starting five. Sam, Berke and Connor off the bench. -

Frankie Fidler - Transfer -> Mich State
Navin R. Johnson replied to hhcmatt's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Fidler was a very good shooter in high school, much better 3 pt shooter than Chucky. -
I thought back to Copeland a few years ago when he got T'd up and he hardly looked at the guy and this guy stood over Connor for a while and the officials did not have the guts to T him up.

2024-25 Husker opponents
Navin R. Johnson replied to AuroranHusker's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Michigan State just looks like a machine out there. They are deep, love to run, can defend, they play well together and Richardson has emerged as a go to guy. They are a team that can make a deep run in the tournament, but I could also see them have an off night and lose early. -

Definitely a team we will want to double the post (Golden) and hope they aren't hot from three.
