  1. Lat has been a liability on both ends tonight.
  2. And now our body language and defensive effort is trash? Why?
  3. They were making noise during Yvan's free throw too. That's like middle school stuff.
  4. Did I hear two Creighton players say "Miss it" as Banton was shooting that free throw?
  5. Solid defense. Good block outs. Really good ball movement tonight. If we start knocking down some of these open threes, we just might have a shot.
  6. Yvan shooting is also a wasted possession. We don't need him to play against this Creighton team.
  7. 6 turnovers in 8 minutes is way too many empty possessions. We only have 6 field goal attempts. Take care of the ball and we will score points on this team!
  8. We're playing with more purpose on both ends. We would've beat Georgia Tech had we played with this intensity.
  9. I cringe a little any time Trey shot fakes and puts the ball on the floor. A travel, charge or wild layup attempt is often the result. Not real impressed with Creighton's defense. We can score points on them.
  10. Maybe the most angry I've ever been at an opponent. Grant Gibbs cheap shot on Petteway then wouldn't let him get up. Petteway got T'd up for it, then Gibbs winked at McDermott. I never had respect for Gibbs, but I lost respect for McDermott after that game. He was asked about it in the press conference. He smiled and said, "Grant Gibbs, that's my guy."
  11. My cousin, who is a creighton fan, lived on the same dorm floor as Nate Funk. He watched Funk push a student down a flight of stairs. Said he would pick fights with anyone for no apparent reason and was just a giant ass hole.
  12. And all those shooters were just what Royce White, the versatile 6’8” point guard, needed to be able to best use his playmaking ability. Banton’s game would be best suited alongside a handful of knock down shooters. There’s not a lot of room for him to operate right now in the half court right now. That makes what he’s done so far even more impressive. Excited to see what he can do with more shooters around him.
  13. The good news is we have two guys right now you can feel pretty confident about shooting the ball - Lat and Kobe. That’s two more than last year. And we add a few more next year.
  14. That’s fair. I actually agree with you. But to play devil’s advocate... Creighton always has talented scoring guards and in the past we’ve almost always had very good perimeter defenders. And it seems like we’re always behind 42 to 23 at halftime. Gotta score points to keep up with Creighton.
  15. I wouldn’t mind seeing Kobe starting and Trey off the bench. But I’m not sure how he’d handle that. We should probably keep him happy at all costs.
  16. Dalano is shooting 78% from the line on about 6 attempts per game. I’m impressed with that. He generally made good decisions with the ball in the first 4 games. Hopefully tonight was an anomaly. Needs to stay locked in on both ends for 40 minutes. We desperately need Trey’s efficiency to improve. I believe it was Padilla who said if he’s the same player he was at Pitt, that isn’t gonna do us any good. So far he has been exactly that. He should be an Avery Bradley type. Focus all your efforts on guarding the other teams best guard. And just pick your spots and take what comes to you on offense. Lat looks like a fish out of water when he puts the ball on the floor. He’s still feeling things out and will start shooting the ball with less hesitation. I think he’s the least of our worries. He and Thor are the only two players right now whose hands the ball doesn’t stick in on offense. Important for cohesiveness and flow in Fred’s offense. I still think losing 20+ pounds has hurt Yvan more than helped. He gets knocked off balance with minimal contact. Didn’t play much tonight, against a team that had a legit big. PT will likely decrease further when Walker/Eduardo are back. Great game by Kobe. I don’t think his approach was any different. Just finally found a rhythm with his shot. We are significantly more talented than last year. But as a team, right now we’re not much better. I just hope we clean some of these fixable things up. We have guys who stand straight-legged for entire defensive possessions at times. That shouldn’t be acceptable. On offense, our pace is awful and I’m sure it’s driving Fred nuts. We may shoot the ball early in the shot clock at times and that’ll make our pace metrics look ok, but every movement we make on offense, with and without the ball, is way too slow.
  17. Thor had 7 rebounds and 5 assists. He does a lot of things that other guys on this roster clearly aren't used to doing. Simple things like setting good screens and blocking out. When a shot goes up, watch Thor. He throws his body into someone. Then watch Teddy. He's only getting a rebound if it bounces to him.
  18. We have the body language of a team that has already given up. We don't deserve to win this game. And if we don't clean up a lot of the little things, there won't be too many wins left on the schedule.
  19. Trey and Dalano have made really poor decisions on offense tonight.
  20. Someone help me get rid of this pessimism. We are so easy to defend right now. Not doing anything with pace.. Ball is stopping. Lazily cutting without the ball. At this point, we're much worse in transition than a year ago. When we get out and run, I fully expect an errant pass or a charge. Georgia Tech is getting layups because they're moving with purpose without the ball and playing crisp.
  21. I'd like the coaches to start getting on Teddy when he doesn't run back on defense after turning it over
  22. He signed his LOI with SDSU before Hoiberg was hired I believe. I remember being upset that Miles didn’t show any interest in him. We didn’t prioritize recruiting shooters under Miles. Baylor was a deadly shooter with NBA range in high school. At 6’6”, he also had great vision and played point guard for Aurora.
  23. 6’7” pure shooters with that kind of athleticism don’t come along too often.
