  1. I'd say his game reminds me a lot more of KG than KD...
  2. Not sour grapes (I’ll be rooting for Hunter wherever he ends up), but I’m not sure how all these recruiting services can unanimously say Sallis is clearly a better prospect than McGowens after watching their film. They both are combo guards. McGowens is taller, longer, equally as athletic (if not more), has a quicker release and appears to have deeper range. Both are very good ball handlers and passers. McGowens probably plays better competition and averaged 26 ppg the last two years. If I had to choose between the two for next level potential, I’d take McGowens. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/10471593/5e14ffab0dcaad049013ca47
  3. I’d be ecstatic if we got to play OK State. The #1 pick in the 2021 NBA draft is Cade Cunningham’s to lose. He’s one of the most impressive high school prospects I’ve ever seen. 6’8” 220 lb point guard. A Banton vs. Cunningham matchup would be fun.
  4. Apparently he and Elijah Wood are friends.
  5. I'm expecting/hoping Trey will be a junior year Tai Webster type of player. Athletic combo guard. Inconsistent offensively, but has value due to his ability to defend. Trey will always be assigned to the other team's best guard.
  6. I could be wrong, but I don’t think that 9th guy is such a mystery. There was that starters vs. scout team scrimmage last year where Walker went 9 for 9 from the field, while matched up against Yvan. Jervay Green said he was the best defensive presence in the post on last years roster. And I know the Tennessee coaches really liked him and didn’t want him to leave. Regardless, it sounds like he’s a great teammate and leader and will accept whatever role is given to him.
  7. I wouldn’t. Only player I would take off last year’s team to include on this team would be Cheatham. He’d be a nice role player.
  8. I’m confident you can pencil in Banton, McGowens, Teddy and Lat. Will be interesting to see if we go big with Yvan or Walker, small with Thor or Shamiel, or smaller with Kobe at that 5th spot. I think our 9 man rotation is pretty set, unless Andre surprises me.
  9. McGowens got his waiver! (siap). This is huge, especially defensively.
  10. I remember thinking he was by far our best rebounder on our Italy trip last year
  11. Washut's current projection: Banton, McGowens, Teddy, Lat, Yvan.
  12. I think we're going to like Lat. He made 86-100 threes in a practice drill a few weeks ago. I just keep having flashbacks to the wide open threes Kavas and Cross would have as the trailer in our offense last year. He reportedly has a non-stop motor. We need guys like that. I felt we only had two players on last year's team that played with consistently great effort - Haanif and Thor.
  13. From all the videos and photos I've seen, I've made the observation that Trey, Teddy, Banton and Lat are always in the same group.
  14. I think WNCC had Teddy listed at 6’5” 200. Not sure why. He hasn’t weighed 200 since probably his freshman year of high school. Reminds me of a young Jared Dudley.
  15. https://huskers.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster Official height and weights have been updated. Dalano is now listed at 6’9”. Akol, on the other hand, shrunk an inch.
  16. I'm impressed with Tominaga, but that's pretty bold. Tyronn was well regarded out of high school. Instant impact player for us and all-big 12 by the time he was a sophomore. Also, they're very different players. Tyronn was a pure point guard and just as good on defense as he was on offense.
  17. The level of play has been awesome
  18. I’m very excited to watch Teddy and Dalano and think they do check a lot of boxes the NBA looks for. Of all the attributes scouts look for, speed and vision might be the only two boxes Cam checked. As an NBA point guard if you don’t have elite talent, you better have elite toughness and leadership qualities. Toughness and leadership are probably Cam’s two biggest weaknesses.
  19. I have to agree. Before last season, he called Cam Mack an NBA player (to be fair, Coach Miles called Jervay an NBA player a few times). Now it’s Dalano and Teddy. I hope he’s right, of course.
  20. Gonna be a stud. He was named a top 20 player at Chris Paul’s rising stars camp last summer. Very mature and well-spoken kid (and he loves the Huskers).
  21. I hope he ends up there. Was on the cover of SI when he was 15, just like Lebron was. Best player in the country as a sophomore. He’s a spitting image of Kevin Durant, but he’s probably better than KD was at this age. I think he’s the best high school player since Lebron. Assuming he reclassifies, there’s actually a chance Izzo has him for two years, since he won’t be eligible for the draft for two more years after this year (obviously he could go to the G-League or overseas).
  22. Niemann was my Uber driver one night in Lincoln about three years ago. For some reason he’s bitter about his time on the basketball team. He had nothing but bad things to say about his teammates, especially Lance Jeter. It was a strange conversation.
  23. FWIW, Washut has said multiple times that the staff loves Mayen and he’s Washut’s pick to start at the 5. Before I heard that, I would’ve agreed with you on this.
