  1. Thought I would add this to the thread https://247sports.com/college/nebraska/Article/Kentucky-basketball-Illinois-State-transfer-Antonio-Reeves-picks-UK-over-DePaul-Nebraska-Oregon-Xavier-186821663/
  2. All this talk about Baylor has me contemplating the landing spot for this kid.
  3. Man, and then you compare and contrast the above recruits with the Nebraska kids who landed elsewhere...oh my.
  4. By the way...when Baylor was a senior and went north, who was in our recruiting class? Same with Sam...and Daum???
  5. I 99% agree with HB's point. But there is a certain amount of selfishness with the local kids as well. Will a Baylor, Sam or a Mike Daum come to Nebraska and be patient enough to sit and develop when they can go to one of the plethora of Dakota schools and pretty much start from the get go and develop there? When they get to that higher level they then can transfer to a larger school and play immediately. The Menke kid from Beatrice was a ballyhooed class B player and spent years here without developing or playing. Charlie Easley came here and sat, transferred up north and started immediately. But you cannot really compare Baylor to either of those two...right? The frustration is that we have lost a lot of high quality players over the past five years or so. When, or can we secure our home state talent? I guess establishing a winning identity and ideology would help.

  7. Have you confirmed that information? As I have heard that is not true about one of them...just saying nothing is certain until it is.
  8. We are already one over the limit. So if we add another player, that would require 2 subtractions. Currently the speculation is Trey and Lat. But, there is zero confirmation that it is either.
  9. I look at this through a slightly different lens as well. With large amounts of money comes significantly higher expectations. And those expectations come from coaches, teammates, spirited fans, fanatics and "others." Others such as gamblers and under world types have lurked around both college and professional sports forever. Money can corrupt. Many of these 18 - 22 year olds know right from wrong; but others struggle with the distinction. Handlers, agents and posse's also figure into the mix. When you see strange things on and off the court, ethics may now have to be taken into consideration.
  10. I don't know...I really like this dude who did the interview with Brady. I believe he thought Brady could play for the huskers.... https://youtu.be/uezzSycVBSM
  11. We have at least one advantage...we are closest to his hometown.
  12. Question. Can a walk-on receive a NIL deal? Ummm, say you don't have a "scholarship" but we can provide you with a one year NIL deal that is worldly. I know, I know, the school cannot (wink-wink) provide the deal...but will something like that provide (cough) a new age end run? Ummm, just asking.
  13. Just wanted to toss this into the discussion. Let's not forget Trey! When healthy last year, he was a dogged defender and would fight on the boards. I am still hoping he returns, but if he doesn't, it sounds like Juwan will be a stouter version.
  14. Just read a tweet from Parker Gabriel indicating he was leaving the Lincoln Journal Star. He did a good job and will be missed. No additional details were provided other than to see future opportunities would be disclosed later. Good luck moving forward Parker!
  15. Watched him play a number of games for North Star. Had talent.
  16. We are sort of sleeping on McPherson as well. He came in as a PG recruit. I have to believe that he will compete for PG playing time.
  17. Same as I have always wanted. I haven't missed a home game since 1984 and have attended since 1974. I cheered at the Coliseum, Devaney and PBA. I am alive with every win, cried like a baby after beating teams like KU and Wisconsin and die a little with every disappointment. I want to win. I want players who prove it on the court. I have the same expectation for this kid as all the kids. We have a lot of coaches who didn't allow players to talk until they played. So there is a bit of crumogeon attitude in my head. I want to see you perform...then you can talk. I know that is naive, but there is an answer to your question.
  18. Lol...that was Doc's recruiting philosophy. I need to find that quote as your take is pretty spot on. I think it was something close to --- I want to recruit players that will hustle and defend, I can teach shooting.
  19. Please note, I personally am not disappointed with this addition. If he turns out to be our glue player that can turn close games into wins, I will be downright giddy. What I am shying away from is the hyperbole that has then been followed by subpar performance. We have (what appears to be) a good class coming in. But the newcomers haven't done diddly squat for us YET. I look forward to this coming year, but don't tell us how great thou art...show us -please!
  20. I haven't seen or heard anything official. We have access to limited video and I personally thought he was not 100%. That said, he was on the floor helping his team. Reading his history and how he worked on his game once he made it to Kansas, leads me to believe that once he hooks up with our nutritional and weight staff, he will improve exponentially. He also will have pretty decent role models in DW and Briedenbach. We shall see.
  21. Yes it is the offseason; but talking isn't the only thing he can do. What he and all players can do, is work on their games...polish their strengths improve upon their weaknesses and then let their actions on the court do their talking. I guess that is what may separate generations. Confidence can be displayed in many ways; but when it is simply verbalized, then perception is in the eye of the beholder.
  22. Okay then...time to go onto the court and prove your talent. Just to refresh...I personally want a player, not a talker. I will love him if he busts his butt on the floor and HELPS us produce wins.
  23. I went to see Snoop Dogg last night so while reading through this subject my mind got a bit foggy. Are we talking about Juwan Gary or Shamiel Stevenson, Jr. ???
  24. Some of my friends have been told that size doesn't matter. I guess it is being able to do the little things that matter most.
  25. With Ivory leaving, they are going to need him.
