Nebraska (6-3) vs. Indiana (7-1) Game Thread

They are making their 3's tonight. They couldn't hit crap against Rutgers. We just need to keep it within ten at the half. -

No excuse for some of the defensive lapses. Adjustments are necessary. -

I'll answer after we get to 30. This is going to get uglier. -
Keep carrying the offense Jazz.

Amazing, but not really, the effect Sam has on this team. -

Should be interesting. Who is Izzo referencing when he says "our kids still has to go to classes?" -

Well...crap! -
I am still in the wait and see camp. I am loud and excited, but we have to be consistant and improve as the season progresses. Tonight will be important. Winning would be a bonus; but how we respond after a big win will tell us another story. We need to grow exponentially each and every game.

Man, I don't know, they are kind of cool. I viewed them after the Pentatonix concert, kinda-sorta got me into the Christmas spirit.

Without mentioning names, we have a few defensive liabilities on the floor. That said, we are schematically hiding those liabilities pretty well. Over the past couple years, we had a portion of the players working hard on defense; but a couple players would be lazy and easy baskets would be given up. Point being, our defensive scheme appears to be our biggest improvement along with basketball IQ and effort. Our offense is still a bit offensive yet. What is positive is that we have a number of players who can score. If we can work the ball to the hot hand, I hope we consistently score in the 65 to 75 point range.

Other centers that should be given consideration are - Carl McPipe - Mikki Moore - Kimani Ffriend - Derrick Chandler I am with Cip in that Jura needs to be added. Bottom line, I want to see the full body of work prior to putting DW in my upper five or six, but if he continues to play as he has, he could easily join the top five.

Here may be a wrench in the gears...fouls...perhaps more to the point; the inconsistancy of refereeing. Dw tends to use his strength (correctly so) when going to the basket. He puts his chest into the body of the opposing big. That is textbook big man play. BUT, certain refs don't like that contact, and will blow his whistle. I hope this plays out in our favor this year.

I would have to go back and find it, but Strick did send out a cool tweet post-game. Glad he is on board.

Defense, effort and focus are so important. Do you realize, we beat Creighton, on the road, despite only three players (Greisel, Walker and Gary) having decent offensive games. All others combined to shoot about 20%. I'm telling you, if we keep this going... -

I got a kick out of Fred's response in his presser when he was asked if he was trying to take some time off the clock when he had to remove DW from the game. He sort of said that he was doing that much to his disdain. Then he said something about how he told Wilhelm earlier that he would hit a big 3 pointer at some point, and then he did and he as really proud of him. Fred sure seems much more at ease with this year's team. I guess that is what happens when players play for each other instead of themselves. -

No disrespect whatsoever; but I do not understand the disdain for Wilhelm. The dude is a gamer who is only going to get better. As a whole, we are embracing the grinder attitude of this team. Briedenbach is the ultimate grinder. I guess I personally understand why the staff plays him and the team embraces him. But everyone has their right to an opinion. -

Sort of funny...I am not convinced I was having fun until the one minute mark. I guess maybe I was having a version of fun if that includes nerves, anxiety, failure to draw a breath and so forth
