  1. Hang tight. One or two coming very soon IMO
  2. you are spot on. yvan is playing euro big man ball in the big ten against guys who are much bigger than him. That won't fly. I can't remember seeing a big man who looks as imposing as Yvan be so weak with the ball in his hands. He can't make a contested shot. Just spitballing here, I would guess at least 75% of his points this year are uncontested dunks, layups and free throws (lol)
  3. Craig Smith I could see. Great coach. McDermott, as much as I dislike the jays, is in a much better spot at creighton than minnesota. I don't think there's more than about 5 schools greg would leave creighton for (duke, unc, kansas, etc.)
  4. Eyes are biased, numbers aren't
  5. I'm in the minority i guess in seeing this improvement everyone else is. I looked at his per minute averages for the 11 non-conference games vs. the last 11 Big Ten games. His numbers are basically identical. He was slightly better down the stretch in rebounding and fewer turnovers and field goal percentage. He was slightly worse down the stretch in points and free throw %. Given the SOS was much tougher down the stretch, I suppose that is some improvement putting up the same numbers but against better teams, but numbers wise he didn't actually make much of a jump.
  6. And if you take away all of Yvan's shots this year, it goes up to 47.3%. Next year we will add King at UW: 50.4% Banton at WKU: 51.6% Stevenson at Pitt: 54.1% Allen at WV: 51.8% We should be above 50.0% next year. Banton, Allen, Stevenson and King can all get to the rim and finish. Yvan needs to be much better next year, unless Walker is a real presence down low.
  7. probably not, but i'm ready for this season to be over.
  8. I would rather they just go start recruiting immediately following a loss next Wednesday.
  9. This guy would probably be our starting PG next season as I give Mack about a 2% chance of returning next year.
  10. he's mo washington man. it's not good for the team.
  11. woof. it's getting easier to take these manhandlings though.
  12. we should probably start looking at other PG options pronto. A 6-8 Banton can help but he can not be your 1A point guard. i agree there are going to be (if not already) serious chemistry issues if one guy is literally disciplined every other week.
  13. Think it's time we start considering doing our roster projections w/o Cam Mack for next year. Whether he jets outta town or whether we don't put up with the drama anymore i don't know. But at this point i'd say it's more likely he isn't here next year than he is.
  14. Yeah but that's weird to predict he won't get the waiver (which by all accounts is actually very likely to happen and both he and the coaches feel confident he'll get it), but then predict Cross and Green will transfer. I think what hhcmatt is getting at is it's a total shot in the dark guessing that Cross and Green will transfer, but there is actual historical evidence and some sort of positive indication that Kobe King will be eligible to play next year. Just my two cents, not that anyone asked.
  15. When the first stat you look at on the stat line is free throw percentage............. why are we the way that we are?
  16. maybe it's true what they say. maybe there just really is nothing else to do here.
  17. I will be absolutely positively shocked if Arop is one of our 13 scholarship players next year. Nothing against the kid, just don't see how he fits in to our future if we intend to rebuild quickly.
  18. If NOBODY who is playing this year returns, our lineup (aka worst case scenario) should still look like this next year: PG Banton SG King (assuming eligibility, though I guess if he didn't get it then worst case scenario actually gets worse, which with Nebrasketball...nevermind) SF Allen PF Stevenson C Walker --- PF Mayen new scholly new scholly new scholly new scholly sit-out transfer sit-out transfer This 6-man lineup is probably still better than any 6-man rotation we've had this year. Add in any of the potential returnees (Mack, Thor, Burke, Green, Cross, Yvan, Arop) and we'll be OK. Not great, just OK. Which is OK for me next year. But 2022 better be an NCAA Tournament team.
  19. Of the scholarship players who could possibly return (I don't count Easley as he would go back to walk-on), here is my thought: Arop - 1% he is back next year, needs to be at a mid major Cross - 33% he is back next year, was much higher a month or so ago but is fading rapidly. He is our worst 3pt shooter of anyone who's attempted more than 30. Rebounds worse than Thor, Mack, Green. I had high hopes for his ceiling but just doesn't seem like he's getting any better. Worse in fact. 4 mins vs NW was a season-low. Yikes. Mack - 50%. Wouldn't be surprised if he goes overseas to play. He is the only player that I really do not want to lose, but if we did, we might be ok still. Stevenson - 99.9% he is here next year and should be in the Top 8 at the very least. Burke - 50%. I doubt he really wants to transfer again, and he could have a role as a scoring option off the bench, which is a much better major-level role for him than a starter playing 30mpg. Walker - 99.9% he is here next year and in the Top 8. Green - 20%. We're going to need scholarships most likely and he's not a Big Ten guard. Hope he finds success somewhere, but I can't see any reason Fred has him on scholly here next year. Yvan - 80% he is here next year, although I could see a situation where he barely plays. Thor - 50%. Nebraska or international pro ball. That will be his decision. I believe Fred would want him back as he is the only guy on our team who can shoot reasonably well. But I could see Thor leaving while his stock is fairly high, and I assume he'll have his degree...? Banton - 99.9% he is here next year and playing a ton. ------ Mack King Allen Banton Walker --- Thor Stevenson Yvan Mayen Burke (Cross) (Green) if we do return Mack, Thor and Yvan, which I assume the staff wants all three back, then we are looking at Burke/Cross/Green being the 10-11-12 guys. That's a crazy situation when you think about how this year has played out. No way all three are here, and probably 2/3 are not here.
  20. Absolutely. By the way, his brother Timmy is a 6-6 forward for Utah. He is averaging 21.1 ppg and 7.9 rpg. Shooting 50% FG, 77% FT. I suspect we got a really good one in Teddy Allen. I'm excited to see what he can do here.
  21. Doubt the coaching staff will allow a scholarship to ride pine for four years, but we'll see how it plays out. I think he'd be a perfect player for UNO.
  22. I'm sure the original poster maybe went a little overboard with the tern "hate"...I'm guessing it's more like they don't want to see him on the court again. From the evidence we have, it seems Jervay would have been much better off in Tim Miles' system of dominating the ball, ISOs, driving to the rim and mid-range jump shots. Team basketball does not appear to his strong suit. He shoots too much. He takes bad shots. He doesn't move the ball. He doesn't play great defense. He makes bad decisions on and off the court.
  23. Are we sure Green is TOO talented? He's the worst 3pt shooter on the team of anyone who plays a lot other than Kevin Cross. He's the worst FG% shooter of anyone on the team. He's the third-worst FT% shooter on the team (ahead of Burke and Yvan). He averages more fouls per minute than any other player on the team other than Cross and Easley. He averages more turnovers per game than anyone on the team other than Mack (who handles the ball the entire game). But the most telling statistic that can be skewed for a game or two, but not over the course of a season, is +/-. There is a reason why we beat Purdue and Iowa, games where Kavas and Green combined to average just 12.5 mpg. Name +/-⇕ Min⇕ T. Thorbjarnarson 28 353 C. Easley 14 49 K. Cross 12 283 C. Mack 8 522 H. Cheatham -5 502 Y. Ouedraogo -17 318 D. Burke -21 413 S. Curtis -23 49 M. Kavas -43 249 J. Green -55 350
  24. Hard to say between Walker and Yvan who is better. Yvan is doing OK as a very young freshman, just OK. Walker barely played at Tennessee in two years but he was on a really, really good team and had NBA guys ahead of him. If Yvan were on those rosters I doubt he sees much playing time. So I lean Walker based on him being a man and Yvan still growing into a man. Yvan needs to get way stronger finishing at the rim. And regarding Banton...we've been hearing that he has NBA potential and that he is one of our best players in practice. On the Italy trip he did things no one else on our roster could do. With all due respect, we are Nebraska basketball and can't afford to not start guys like that. Putting it another way, here's the order of confidence I am that they will start games next year: Mack Allen Banton big drop-off Walker/Yvan (one of them will start, coin flip IMO) Stevenson Burke (feels weird putting him down here, so maybe he would get the nod over Shamiel) Thor (having a fantastic year, but still can he shoot this well all season? He's a good player to have come off the bench if you want to be a really good team IMO) Cross Mayen Green Easley Arop (I'll be surprised if he doesn't find somewhere else to play next year)
  25. I would say of those 3, Dachon is most likely to start, then Thor, then Jervay.
