  1. Where did you find that??? That is priceless... Izzo had the nerve in his post-game presser to call out NU for making 4 "circus shots" by Pitch & Pett. He did give props to NU for toughness as "junkyard dawgs" like his previous teams. Must not have done a very good job of scouting film then. Petteway's been hitting those shots all year.
  2. "Nebraska is not good." Hey idiot, we're 6-6 and in 6th place and have played one of the tougher conference schedules to date. Led for 37 minutes on your own court too. Whatever, more fuel to the fire.
  3. I would be a lot more worried about these games if we hasn't already lost to both. Our guys are hungry.
  4. HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Something that is worrisome is that in their last 2 home games vs. PSU and Northwestern they have shot 12-23 (52.2%) and 11-21 (52.4%) from 3. Won both by 15. They are 10-0 when hitting double-digit treys. 11-4 when not.
  6. We have to play loose and with no fear, not tentative. Attack the rim, let it fly, see what happens. A good start is critical in this game. We can't play catch up against them all day.
  7. That's a lot of teams to root for! I have enough trouble just trying to root for one team. You trying to kill me?
  8. So I guess it should be no problem for the message board to discuss it all the time, right? Wow this is incredible!!!!! I can't believe he didn't go with the standard team focus responses like, "one game at a time" and "let's not get ahead of ourselves" and "gotta stay focused and control what we can control" etc. I love it. I love that this is our team's goal. Not just making postseason. I love that they discuss it so everyone is on the same page. I just hope they realize they need to play extremely well every game from here on out. One slip up and that dream is diminished.
  9. Which guy? It seems this thread has meandered through a number of names... Darien Williams. Obviously the schools interested in him indicate he is a baller though.
  10. I have never understood this logic. Just because a conference is good doesn't mean a certain number of teams are going to get in even if there are not qualified teams. It's not a rule by any means, but more based on a conference's perception. If NU gets to 10-8 w/ 1+ win(s) in B1G tourney, then the Huskers will be dancin' (especially w/ a victory @MSU ) Wait what? What I was saying is that being 6th place doesn't matter. It is our resume that matters. If we finish 10-8 we will certainly be 6th, maybe even 5th in the league. We will deserve to be dancing not because of finishing 5th or 6th but because of our resume. Hypothetically, we finish 9-9 and in 6th, but Indiana, Northwestern and Minnesota tank. The Gophers finish 7-11 and in 7th. We both lose in first round. Do we make it in since we beat them head to head and were 2 games better in league? Do you think Minny still gets in? Or does the 2nd-best RPI league only get 5 bids? I would say we have a puncher's chance on Selection Sunday. If we were 9-9 and in 7th and lost, and Minnnesota was 10-8 and in 6th, I would say we don't have a prayer. That's how I see it.
  11. I have never understood this logic. Just because a conference is good doesn't mean a certain number of teams are going to get in even if there are not qualified teams. No it doesn't, but it does mean 10-8 in the Big Ten will be more highly thought of than 10-8 in the SEC. If it came down to Nebraska at 10-8 vs. an SEC team at 10-8 or whatever, the Big Ten strength would be a huge factor.
  12. Anything that boosts our resume and hurts Minnesota's is huge. Michigan, Michgan State, Iowa, Ohio State and Wisconsin will all get in. The #2 RPI conference should get at least 6 bids. We need separation from Minnesota.
  13. That was on the carrying call on Petteway (that I also disagreed with) but then they never showed the replay. #bigscreenproblems. Of course Miles will get to see the film and I won't. But the bad ref made that call and Miles might have wanted to pick up his 1st T if the replay had shown the call was a bad one.You were probably at the game Norm. I couldn't make it so I watched on TV and Miles leaned back and looked at the big screen on a handful of calls, not just the carry (which was a good call, btw, and one that they got Illinois for later as well). BTN showed him after every questionable call and he did it all the time on blocks/charges, handchecks, etc. It was pretty funny. Of course I was losing my mind, so kudos to him for being at least more patient than I am.Side note: last night was the first time I can remember this season our opponent getting called for an illegal screen. It seems to me that we get called for that at least once a game. I hate that call. No, it wasn't the first. There was at least one other. But illegal screens happen all the time. All the time. And it only gets called at strange moments. Like in the last minute against Oregon a few years back they called one on Brandon Ubel. Like really? They've been doing it to us all game and then you choose this moment to suddenly care about illegal screens?Minnesota was another game where they did it just all of the time. That Smith kid or whatever his name was who scored about 30 on us, Ray was chasing him around screens all night long and their screener would throw a hip into Ray or move over into him to give that guy just enough separation to get off a 3 pointer. And that's how they drew closer towards the end. Damn frustrating when they call us for that given how often it gets ignored. And we generally get the short end because our offense isn't predicated on curling shooters around screens to get them open for a catch-and-shoot 3. And when your chaser gets picked by a guy who throws a hip into him, freeing up the shooter, that's supposed to be a foul. Right? The sad part is, this is how it is with most calls. A lot of things will go uncalled until the coach asks for it to be watched, like 3 seconds. Refs will almost never call it until a coach says "Watch 42, he's camping in the lane all day." Sure enough, you'll get the call in the next couple possessions. Referees have so many things to watch for that sometimes it's all about the coach just making refs aware. It's a lot of politics. It sucks, but it is.You might be right but not about the 3 second call. Good officials just won't call it. Tell 42 to move out of the lane, he does & they gets to keep playing. Preventive officiating makes the call unnecessary. I've seen and heard it happen. The problem with "good officials" is that not all of them are.
  14. I've heard this guy is a real stud. Get him on board!
  15. Ole Miss (Lunardi's next 4 out) is a perfect example of this road win logic being too weighted. Nebraska (13-10, 5-6 Big Ten, RPI 64, SOS: 25) Best Wins: Ohio State (19), Minnesota (40) Top 50: 2-7 Top 100: 4-7 Bad Losses: vs. UAB (175), at Purdue (113), at Penn State (110) Road: 1-7 (win over 104 Northwestern) Home Losses: Michigan (13) Ole Miss (16-8, 7-4 SEC, RPI 63, SOS 88) Best Win: Missouri (48, not even in field as of today) Top 50: 1-4 (NU has played 4 more Top 50 teams, so the 16-8 record is canceled out by 13-10; conf. record is moot because SEC is 7th and BIG is 2nd) Top 100: 4-7 (identical to NU) Bad Losses: at Mississippi State (185) (only 1 +100 loss beats out our 3) Road: 4-5 (wins over 227 Coastal Carolina, 111 Western Kentucky, 177 South Carolina, 84 Vanderbilt) Home Losses: Oregon (43), Mercer (68), Dayton (58) We only have 1 road win, but it would be the 2nd-best road win on Ole Miss's schedule. We should just schedule to play at UNO and UMKC every year, that's basically a pair of top 200 road wins and we wouldn't have to fly. We would basically have Mississippi's resume if we had skipped the 3 games at the Charleston Classic, and instead played at UMKC, at UNO and at Drake and won; won at Purdue and Penn State; and lost to Minnesota and Illinois (at home). We'd be 17-8. Our RPI would be a bit lower, but with the 5 road wins instead of 1, we'd make up for it. We'd still have the Ohio State win to our name, which Ole Miss doesn't. Is this really better than our real resume? I sure as heck would hope not. I would hope at the very least we are right behind Ole Miss, although I get the sense we are considered more down with the Northwesterns of the world (good try, kid, but you're not close).
  16. Sure, but at least we have the honesty to sick back and say "Creighton has a really damn good team," even though we hate them. They can't even acknowledge that we play some semblance of the game they call "basketball"...every time we step on the court it's just wise-cracks about how terrible we are and setting basketball back 30 years...blah blah. I'm convinced that if we made the NCAA Tournament they would chalk it up to the Big Ten being a horrible conference. Oh wait, they're already saying it. Even though every team has a winning record...the league is #2 in the RPI...has 5 teams in the Top 30... Whatever. At least I can acknowledge Creighton has a great basketball team.
  17. Love Petteway, but his turnovers and carelessness in general at times need to improve before NBA scouts really want him. That's what 2 more years of CBB are for
  18. Yes, they also have 2 true road wins, so that's mostly why Lunardi has them in. Because it's certainly not their SOS or their great ACC record. I think it sucks that there is such a major emphasis on road/neutral wins now. What about, one year, rewarding the teams who take care of business on their home court and have a crazy fanbase that helps them play well, and thus, would probably travel in droves to see their team play in an NCAA game... Just sayin'. Florida State has lost to Virginia (18), Clemson (72) and Miami (108) at home. We've lost to Michigan (13). If that were emphasized instead of road/neutral, we'd be in. I don't get it. Who decided it was less embarrassing to have teams come in and beat you in your own gym than it is to go out to other teams' gyms and lose? "Oh yeah they get beat on their home floor all the time by teams on par or worse than them, but whoa, did you see that big road win they got a bad Miami team? Wow!" The RPI already heavily factors in road wins, I don't think it should also be evaluated as its own category as well.
  19. Feb. 13 update: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/bracketology Last Four In Georgetown Providence Florida State West Virginia First Four Out LSU Missouri Richmond Saint Joseph's Next Four Out Louisiana Tech Clemson Dayton Ole Miss A comparison: Nebraska (13-10, 5-6 Big Ten, RPI 64, SOS: 25) Best Win: Ohio State (RPI 19) Top 50: 2-7 Top 100: 4-7 Bad Losses: vs. UAB (175), at Purdue (113), at Penn State (110) Road: 1-7 Florida State (14-10, 5-7 ACC, RPI 62, SOS: 42) Best Wins: UMass (RPI 20) neutral, Virginia Commonwealth (RPI 22) neutral Top 50: 2-6 Top 100: 4-9 Bad Losses: Miami (108) Road: 3-6 It's not at all a stretch to compare these resumes seriously, yet one team is "in" and the other is nowhere on the radar. What keeps us from edging FSU right now is basically us holding on to win at Penn State and tipping in the winner against Michigan. Hindsight is always 20/20, but crazy how close we are in just Year 2. Fortunately, we still control our own destiny and it's not like we say that meaning we have to win the conference tournament or reel off 5 straight wins against Top 25 teams. He's got 6 Big Ten teams in. I would have to imagine after Indiana's game last night that we would be the 7th team on his list.
  20. In my uneducated opinion, 19-11 (11-7) and a win in the tourney would be an NCAA lock. 18-12 (10-8) and a win in the tourney would be on the bubble and we probably would need a win over Wisconsin or at Michigan State. 9-9 in conferece would require a huge run in the tournament.
  21. The res throwbacks we wore last year or two years ago. Wish those were our permanent road jerseys.
  22. Spencer and Petteway have similar games, but Petteway will always be the better scorer because of his height advantage. Needs to work on his passing though. Doc never had an offensive talent as good as Terran. I still think Terran would have put up numbers in Doc's system. Spencer and Talley were given a lot of leeway once Doc realized nobody else could really score.

  24. I really can't believe all their negativity towards Wichita State and the MVC now. They really think they are big-time now. When they were in the MVC, they couldn't stop talking about how good the league was and how they were disrespected by major conferences. Now they are pulling the same stunt, and Wichita is way better than Creighton ever was in the MVC.
  25. Our players' reaction is great. If I can read Peltz's lips correctly, he's clearly saying, "For real, bro?
