I thought we dug our own grave with mental errors more than anything else. To wit, 0-8 start at the free throw line. Poor defensive post pay early at the start of the 2nd half. Hammond muffling a great no-look assist from Shavon (?). Finally, missed opportunities for easy layups in the last 5 minutes by Tai and Glynn, who chose instead to pass it around and take 15-20 seconds off the clock.

I really have a hard time understanding people's obsession with starting lineup. It is a 0:01 minute decision in a 40:00 game. Total minutes played seems more relevant to me.

Bo was my 2nd favorite coach in the Big Ten. Maybe even the country.

I don't think you can call this a recruiting issue that is unique to the Miles era: - 65-66 - ironically - one of the program's best teams in history had no one taller starting than 6'5" Tom Baack - 75-76 team - started 6'6" Larry Cox at center - three consecutive teams - from 79/80 to 81/82 - never had a starter taller than 6'7" Andre Smith - the 93/94 team's center was 6-8 Bruce Chubick - Doc had 6-5 Ade Dangendaro starting after Maric left.

That "terrible" announcer is Pete Gillen. 20yr head coaching career with multiple NCAA Tourny appearances. i didn't say he was a bad coach. i said he's a terrible announcer. Either way - bad vibes having Gillen announce the game, given that he coached Xavier in what was the first of 7 NCAA losses by NU.

I don't want to overplay things, but I think it's a big week. I think it will set the tone for the rest of the season. If we beat both Creighton and R.I., an NIT or better is a realistic expectation. Anything less and getting to the NIT would be a real outside shot, IMO.

I don't think Loyola or ASU did us any favors.
