I don't agree with that. Hawkins is awful on defense. Not to pick on the kid for playing his heart out. At least Ray can play defense, and if Petteway, Shields, and Pitchford are in at the same time, we have enough scorers to get an off night from Ray.

The only call I questioned was the jump ball when Leslie gets attacked on one end. On the other end, he gets all ball, and they call a foul on him.

They also got back on defense when they turned the ball over.

Nebraska looked like a typical team that couldn't make a basket. They tried to force things, and Illinois exploited that.

How can we put this loss even close to Rey. Our 3 best scorers went 8 - 31 from the floor, and 2 - 10 from 3. They scored a combined 23 points. They had 47 % of our points despite taking 69 % of our shots. It's pretty easy to see why we lost this game.

We did not get to the line tonight. We were averaging 7 more free throw attempts than our opponents in the last 5 games. Tonight, Illinois shot 12 more free throws tonight. That's a difference of 19 more free throws. We lose by 11

Actually, this game is really easy to gauge. We didn't shoot the ball well. Everything else after that was poor. It's not the end of the world. Have to come back Saturday, lose that game, and it is NIT bound. Illinois is not leaps and bound better than us. We just played stupid at times. Took dumb shots. Passes were poor, and yet we still had a chance with about 3 minutes to go. Let's also not forget somehow Minnesota can lose to this same Illinois team AT HOME, and be considered a tournament team. Shouldn't be considered a bad loss. Find 4 more wins somehow, and we will still be dancing IMO.

Shields and Petteway are 2 - 14 from the floor. We haven't made a 3. We are getting killed on the boards 21 - 14. It is mind boggling that we are only down 3. That should change in the 2nd half.

Well yep. But he is ours and I think we are going to keep him for awhile. When I mention the words contract extention people go into hemorrhage mood. Am I right or wrong in thinking Miles contract should extened.His initial contract was 7 years. That's pretty lengthy for college hoops. Would hope he gets a raise this summer if we keep this up. When we win am NCAA tournament game, he will be getting a lifetime contract.

He did say that we would be a tough team to play if we did make it. I do agree we have some work to do. I'm glad he said that.

I agree Teran had a good night, and another 29. However, if not for Shields in the 1st half, this game is much closer. I think he had 13 and 7 in the 1st half. You could also argue for David and Benny with their defense.

Any of the last three happening would be huge for us. Thanks to Shuttlesworth for being such a contributor to this thread. I don't know if they can do it, but if UAB could get under 100, that would be huge. They have jumped up 18 spots in a week, beating a 267 team and a 169 team on the road. They play an 82 and a 65 team at home to end the season. Plus another road game against a 300 team. That would eliminate a bad loss. Our other 2 losses were on the road in conference and in the rematch we blew them both out.

Illinois has not shot the ball well from 3 point range, Force them to shoot jump shots, and keep off the line, we have a great chance to steal a road victory. If we can steal this one, we should be in some brackets.
