Nebraska (8-7) vs. Iowa (11- 3) Game Thread

This is getting absolutely ridiculous. 20 to 12 I'm foul calls. 20 to 10 in free throw attempts. So much inconsistency. Shields dribbles, gets bumped and it is an offensive foul? -

He seems to be in a funk the last 5 games. We need him if we want to win some Big 10 games. am i missing something? he's been our best player tonight. 9 points, 5 reb, 3 ast, no turnovers. He's 0 - 4 from the line, missed a lay-up. He really should have about 15 + points. -

Are we just going to give Iowa countless free throw attempts? -

Hey refs, one team can reach in, but the other team can't? The ball knocked out by Iowa was a foul on Nebraska the last 5 minutes. -

Can this team have all their phases play well at the same time? They play decent offense the first 2 conference games, but struggle defensively. Tonight, the defense is playing decently, but our offense is dreadful. Just go for 45% from the field, and it is 10 more points, and we are up 1. -

To be fair to the defense this game, nearly everyone of Yogi's shots were contested. Now, I even commented that we can't allow teams to shoot 56% and expect to win. Which is true, but sometimes it comes to the point where you don't "allow" them to shoot that percentage, they just do. I kind of felt that yesterday's game was like that. -
The Indiana game gave me a little more hope. Need to win a game to get our confidence up. The youngins need to learn how to win.

Northwestern wasn't an intimidating atmosphere as well. What happened to the allure of playing in a hostile PBA? A couple of things. Students not there. A midweek midafternoon game, tough to get a crazy crowd. I thought the crowd was pretty decent today. Not the best one ever, but decent. -

I really hope Miles is watching this Purdue/Iowa game. Purdue looks worse than us breaking the press. Iowa has came back from 19 down and took a 5 point lead, now. -
The one that made me furious was the call on Jacobson, when he beat Bryant to the spot. Should have been a no call. What is he supposed to do? Let him camp down on the blocks, and dunk over you. Also, need some help from the guards. Need to make it difficult to get the ball to the post inside. A lot of post defense is more of a team defense. First, the center needs to keep the guy away from the blocks. Then, the guards have to get into the passing lanes to deny an easy pass into the lane. They also have to stay in front their guy and make sure he doesn't beat you to force your big guy to help. If he does beat you players have to rotate off their man, and guard the guy down low.

Coach just said on postgame show, that he injured his knee in the 1st half. Wanted to play in the 2nd half, but coach didn't think he would be very effective.

Didn't get out coached or out worked tonight IMO. Had Yogi been wearing a different red we win.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk And there's the rub. Players like Yogi (and Bryant) don't think about Nebraska while they're being recruited. I admire Chauncey Billups so much for taking the chance 20 years ago on his home-state school and lifting them to a Sweet 16. He turned down the IUs (Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina, etc.) of the world to do so. Yogi is also a senior. Watson might be able to make those types of plays in 3 years. Bryant is just a load. -

Didn't get out coached or out worked tonight IMO. Had Yogi been wearing a different red we win.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk That's what makes Wednesday so much more frustrating. We give that effort the other night, we most likely beat Northwestern, as they didn't have a playmaker like Yogi. I can live with this loss, we just got outplayed by a really good college player. Bring this effort, every night, we might have a chance to win some games, and pull off an upset at home. -

Not a bad effort. I felt Northwestern was a bad effort. Tonight, we brought it. Yogi was the difference in the game. We didn't have anyone that could make those plays. We have to figure it out defensively. The sooner we do that, the faster we start winning games. It seemed like in the 2nd half we couldn't get a stop when we needed it. -

Bad time to Glynn to go in a funk. Needs to battle through it, though. Indiana had too much offensive firepower. -

We cant do anything on Bryant. We beat him to the spot, and we get called for a foul. We let him set up shop on the blocks and he scores easily. -

These refs should be ashamed of themselves. If I was 6'10" and could plant the opposing team into the front row, I would be able to put up some numbers. Bryant should be long fouled out by now. Then, #5 is in the lane for half their possession on the last play. -

That was an absolute horrible no call when Shields got knocked down.
