  1. OK, new day. At least I have a couple of teams to root against (Creighton) and for (Michigan) today. Oh, and I don't particularly like Oregon or UCLA either, just for the record.
  2. I guess the nun didn't pray hard enough. Now I'm for Villanova because Baylor knocked us out the last time we went. And I like the cut of Jay Wright's jib.
  3. Ah yes, the beaver, my favorite rodent.
  4. Hold the popcorn, men. Gonzaga/Creighton and Michigan/Fla. St. are on Sunday.
  5. ...are the least compelling I can recall in decades of watching the NCAA tournament. I suspect the coverage of the ancient nun will be the main focus of today's games.
  6. No, for God Shammgod God Shammgod - Wikipedia
  7. What B-town mentions plus the league's showing this year will automatically lead to the perception by the pundits that next year will be a "down" one for the Big Ten. Therefore, Nebraska will have to finish in the top three just to be invited to the NCAA tourney.
  8. I hope he does well. I'm sure he would always be able to transfer back to Nebraska if his Seattle experience proves disappointing. Maybe he's just ready to leave Omaha.
  9. I just skimmed the above rivals scouting report and noted that his downsides were a lack of offensive moves and rim protecting abilities. And I tend to confuse Sweden with France, so you are probably right. Is there any evidence we are actively recruiting him now or is he still committed to the Gophers? And how old is he anyway? I do sort of like the new 'stach and hairdo.
  10. Sort of sounds like a slightly larger version of Yvan. Now, if he were only 17...
  11. There, I rated it 5 stars for you.
  12. Pretty good resume for a kid from Silver Lake. Silver Lake, Kansas - Wikipedia
  13. So did David Hoppen and Andre Smith.
  14. And we must realize, HE'S ONLY 17!
  15. Gulp, this makes me realize that I kept Husker4Life from winning two consecutive years. It also makes me wonder if I am now the oldest guy (77) now posting.
  16. I'm ready to move on to baseball now. Time to let the West Coast enjoy the NCAAs this year. Will this be the lowest rated Sweet Sixteen ever? Or will it attract all of the bored fans with nothing else to do.?
  17. I thought this merited a post since he was an all time great for the Lakers. Personally, I was never a fan since his Seattle team eliminated the Kansas State team which was a favorite of mine in the 1958 Final Four. (K-St. starters were Omaha's Bob Boozer, Jack Paar, Roy Dewitz, Wally Frank, and Don Matuzak). I had seen K.State beat the Oscar Robertson Cincinnati team in the regionals which were played at Allen Fieldhouse that year. Baylor had a nervous tic in his neck like a natural fake which sort of helped make him difficult to guard and a knack for scoring. For a while I tried to mimic the tic, but could never quite get the scoring part. Too bad he played for the Lakers. Anyway, he seemed like a gentleman without any extraneous controversy. R.I.P.
  18. Well, at least they can't blame Nebraska for this epic catastrophic disaster.
  19. I sort of want to see a KU-Iowa matchup in the sweet 16. but I don't see either beating Gonzaga in the the Elite Eight. By the way, I was 2/8 in yesterday's matches. I wonder how KenPom is doing?
  20. Big Ten is one of two conferences with 6 remaining teams, which is not exactly a terrible start. And Auroran gets an upvote for the first Jeremiah Johnson meme in HHC history.
  21. Didn't he also play at Pitt?
  22. I found just the thing for you. Amazon.com: Canyon Dreams: A Basketball Season on the Navajo Nation (Audible Audio Edition): Michael Powell, Darrell Dennis, Penguin Audio: Audible Audiobooks
  23. MSU didn't look like a cohesive team during the time I watched with players going after each other and Izzo on camera. They didn't seem to want to be there. I was so interested, I went to bed when UCLA took their first lead in the second half. And I have followed the Bruins so closely that I thought Alford was still their coach.
