  1. Take medicine/Turn Page/Learn lesson.
  2. I would hope that there are many Div.1 athletes on this list if the above are the only criteria.
  3. It doesn't say that the two were necessarily linked. In other words, it probably just happened to work out this way and I would not think that the football team was "used" to get the basketball teams scheduled. Hopefully by 2020 we will be able to "use" the basketball program to schedule football teams if Tim Miles can work the magic that many on this board expect.
  4. What does the Mellow Mushroom specialize in? It must be worth checking out to elicit HHCDave to make his first comment for the past two months. By the way, I like mushrooms.
  5. Funny, I awoke in a whetted state this morning.
  6. Yes, the more celebrities we can get, the better for the university. Maybe they could offer free tuition to all of the Kardasians. I also heard that someone left the solution to a complex mathematical problem on one of the blackboards last night.
  7. Nebraska day at Royals Stadium is August 10 against the Red Sox. I'll be there-probably hanging out with Matt and Ben, it appears.
  8. Have another Danish, Shavon.
  9. Does Kent have any memory left of the Danny Nee era or has it been burnt out on all that coffee?
  10. Dag nab it. I was going to embed something by Walter Brennan at this point, but my stupid Ebay won't let me. Now there was a Walter!
  11. I was confused by the thread title at first. Walter Dukes, Walt Frazier, and Walt Wesley were the first names which came into my mind.. Hopefully Pitchford will be able to surpass them by the time he leaves.
  12. I once baby sat for my Latin teacher's children and she was the sister in law of Robin Roberts. Does that count.
  13. To be fair, Wahoo Sam Crawford and Grover Cleveland Alexander would also be on this list if the All Star game had been played prior to 1933. and to keep this basketball relevant, I think Doc Sadler saved Kevin Costner's child in Field of Dreams, although I may be thinking about some other doctor.
  14. Cerv with one v.
  15. Notice that I said "should" , not "does".
  16. We just twitter away like a pair of happy magpies.
  17. Thanks, cwg, Lance was a personal favorite of mine-not to mention a facebook friend while he was here.
  18. Basketballjones:I do believe that professional athletes are hard working, driven, and coachable whenever it suits their personal interests. But that's their job. Your description should fit anyone who works for a living. And time will prove whether I am right or wrong on Stevens and the Celtics.
  19. I realize that cwg has a thread on this topic properly placed on one of the other areas but I seldom check there and since Barry once coached here I thought this deserved some space on the main board. What the heck is Danny Ainge thinking in hiring Brad Stevens??? Butler, with a campus the size of Nebraska Wesleyan, is about as far from the shark tank of Boston professional sports as one can get. And no matter how impressive the coaching credentials, I fail to see how Stevens will motivate egocentric multimillionaire pros to play like Butler Bulldogs. I predict disaster and a return to the college ranks for Brad within 3 years. Since I think he has a financial background, he may be able to take enough money with him to be have his future security assured, but he will be in for some very difficult sledding until that happens. At least we won't have to worry about Collier poaching any of our coaches, since the Butler facilities are about as far removed from our new digs as possible. Have a safe Fourth everyone.
  20. I hope Tai didn't forget to pack copies of all his homework for the last four years. I believe that is what got Sallie in trouble.
  21. I think Fran was an assistant for a few days because I remember visiting with him and Bob Devaney at some sort of get together for Danny right after he came to town. Don't remember what I said to him, but I do remember telling Devaney that he had made a good hire (and I think I was, for the most part, correct).
  22. Synchronicity strikes again as Jimmy finds a link to the Owens family. While his Dad was KU coach and I was in high school, my Pop and I had seats behind the KU bench at the old Big Seven Xmas tourney in KC. Big Ted was angry at a ref's call and kicked a folding chair right into my leg. My own Dad wanted to sue him, but he did turn around and apologize to us afterward. Maybe I should be allowed to kick a chair into young Ted as a long postponed payback.
  23. If the tweet is parsed carefully, it says nothing at all about him either being eligible or enrolled in the university.
  24. Am I just old and cynical or is this draft terrible? Noel was not that good before he got hurt and is projected as number one. McLemore disappeared from the KU lineup for extended periods. Len is hurt and looked like a ton of other bench riding 7 footers when I watched Maryland. Trey was great against KU but his physical tools can be matched against many others not even in the NBA. Will he be able to be a leader there with a team of veteran players? The list goes on..
  25. If Silverback just removes his shirt, you can recognize him by the hair.
