I'm THRILLED we hired Coach Hoiberg, and if you want describe Nebraska as a longtime "middling" or "nondescript" program I'll listen to that. Nebraska however, has NOT been, as I pointed out above a "historically awful" program. As a reference, check out the Minnesota Timberwolves franchise if you'd like to see what "historically awful" looks like. There I'm done...
Every single Coach from Cipriano moving forward (other than Collier) was above .500 & he was only 2 games under. That by definition is a WINNING record...
Look at the total number of wins decade by decade and you can’t say with a straight face that Nebraska has been “historically awful.” That’s based solely on their NCAA record which isn’t the only barometer of their success or failures.
I’ll be SHOCKED if people in the know claim he’s a 1st Rounder. His game needs to improve in SO many areas and the place to address that is at the College level. Especially since he’ll be one of the top 2-3 scoring options on the team, if not higher.
I’m sticking with my plus sized, drunken Laker Lover because after Freddies arrival I’m convinced a straight up trade LeBron for Anthony Davis is a REAL possibility!
Katz said after the Wisconsin loss that Nebraska should “understand” who they are. A Football school who should be happy to “maybe” sneak in the Tournament once every 3-5 years. Speaking for all Husker fans I’ll be happy to tell Mr Katz that he can collectively “Kiss My A**”!
My very first Husker game was against the Cyclones and Barry Stevens. He was to be followed by Jeff Grayer, LaFester Rhoades, Victor Alexander, Marcus Fizer and so on... Like the old saying says, "If ya can't beat 'em, Join 'em"!
This brings to mind my favorite quote from FDR. When he introduced his “New Deal” plan, his Chief of Staff said, “if this works, you’ll go down as the greatest President of All-time.” To which FDR replied, “if it doesn’t work, I’ll be the last”...
That’s all very true, I wasn’t trying to write him off as chopped liver. Was merely pointing out that falling in love with someone’s resume ultimately doesn’t amount to a hill of beans either way. How many football fans assume Frost’s tenure here will mirror his time at UCF? Too many...
That’s all I’m sayin, let’s pump the brakes. Past success guarantees nothing. Remember when Bill Callahan coached in the Super Bowl? Peleni was the DC for National Champion LSU? Danny Nee was far from wildly accomplished but took us to 5 NCAA tournaments & an NIT Title in 8 years.
