  1. ESPN (ESPN2) is airing 6 games a week. Game times are typically Midnight/3/4:30 am CDT. I think they tend to re-air the game later in the day as well.
  2. "NCAA president Mark Emmett does not envision schools being ready to begin competing in college football or other fall sports unless students return to campuses around the country." "All of the commissioners and every president that I've talked to is in clear agreement: If you don't have students on campus, you don't have student-athletes on campus... That doesn't mean [the school] has to be up and running in the full normal model, but you have to treat the health and well-being of the athletes at least as much as the regular students... If a school doesn't reopen, then they're not going to be playing sports. It's really that simple." "I suspect that people are going to make decisions sometime in June... Maybe by the Fourth of July." https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/29152467/ncaa-mark-emmert-says-fall-sports-likely-no-go-campuses-open
  3. Looks like the DFL decided to restart, as the government recently allowed, starting May 15 through June 30: https://global.espn.com/football/german-bundesliga/story/4092755/bundesliga-to-return-from-coronavirus-on-may-16-sources?platform=amp
  4. And there you have it. The first fan in 2020 to attend a live sporting event:
  5. There's been worse things on ESPN The Ocho...
  6. It looks like the Premier Lacrosse League is opening up in the North American sports front as well: https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2020/05/06/premier-lacrosse-league-announces-plan-quarantined-tournament-hopes-its-model-can-be-indicator-others/
  7. The first major professional sports league to start back up after the coronavirus outbreak is the KBO. Not familiar with the Korean Baseball Organization? If you're a fan of baseball, want to see a faster game than MLB and enjoy crazy batflips, then this is the league for you. I'm just really glad KBO and ESPN could set up this partnership to air 6 games a week. I hope this lasts beyond the COVID outbreak. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/29136672/kbo-espn-schedule-how-watch-teams-korea-baseball-league-more I'd imagine the next league to restart would be Bundesliga in Germany. Even if you're not a fan of either of those leagues, these are positive signs of progress in the sporting world.
  8. An Omaha resident wearing red walks into a bar in autumn. That same person changes to wearing a blue sweater vest in the winter...
  9. Got the Davis brothers drafted in the NFL and now Pierson-El has another shot at the NFL:
  10. Check the NCAA lawsuit Nebraska is mentioned in. https://journalstar.com/news/local/education/lawsuit-claims-unl-athletic-department-protect-huskers-accused-of-sexual-assault/article_8fca9778-9c38-560e-adde-1f230d5ee8d4.html
  11. I'm not so sure about that. Sure, there's factors like Miles' preferences, university preferences, and the number of up-and-coming coaches coming into the picture. But just look at a couple of these current Power 5 coaches: Tim Miles at Nebraska (7 seasons): 50.4% (40.6%) NCAA Rd 64, NIT 2nd Rd, NIT 1st Rd Jim Christian at Boston College (6 seasons): 38.7% (22.7%) NIT 1st Rd Josh Pastner at Georgia Tech (4 seasons): 49.2% (41.9%) NIT Runner-up, Postseason ban + multiple scandals Pat Chambers at Penn State (9 seasons): 49.7% (33.7%) NIT Champ, CBI Quarterfinal Wayne Tinkle at Oregon State (6 seasons): 49.2% (38.9%) NCAA Rd 64 Frank Martin at South Carolina (8 seasons): 55.5% (46.2%) NCAA Final Four, NIT 2nd Rd
  12. How can it possibly be that high ... especially with Brant Banks not returning this season.
  13. Another addition:
  14. Maybe he just didn't have enough experience yet in boxing to make it to the NBA...
  15. Fair point.
  16. Seems a little distasteful to blame his withdrawal from the NBA draft on coronavirus and not his inability to produce NBA-level stats in a Power-5 conference...
  17. Here's a pretty solid article from the AP on the topic. Mainly tailored to college football, just because it's the first collegiate sport on the dock, but still applies to college basketball as well. https://apnews.com/310d4643e316e409da185b988faa181f
  18. Interesting choice of words by Carter and Green. I'm not sure how much is in/out of context, but they use pretty definite language about the fall semester when we're in an environment of very high uncertainty and something that is months away. Things can change any given week, for the good or the bad. Either way, this Journal Star article goes beyond some other ones I read; they discuss fall sports as well if anyone is interested to see their perspective on it.
  19. What it does help with is tracing the virus. But at this point, that's not really the objective to a reactionary measure.
  20. And there you have it:
  21. This. I clump professional leagues into this as well. Is the league willing to risk starting up their sport again, even without fans, and deal with the backlash and lawsuits should any of their players contract the virus and die, even if quarantine measures were in place.
  22. I could be wrong, but I just don't see even professional leagues allowing fans to attend games for quite some time. Possibly even as long as the end of 2020. We'll have to see how the data changes as time goes on, but just recognize that there's a possibility that there will be a new norm for up to a year or or (I liked the old Norm better). Possibly restaurants having to rearrange layouts to allow more distance, schools and offices checking your temperature at the door, etc.
