  1. And completely eliminates bracket challenges which turn casual fans away.
  2. Appreciate the clarification! So does this put more insight into whether Trev wanted him gone last season? Or what the benchmark was to keep his job?
  3. I guess we'll get to see what mess Moos committed to:
  4. But doesn't Sporting KC play in the Big 12? AFC West
  5. I've argued this point before, especially for the NBA and MLS. But I do think the difference is that the NBA has series which best determines the better team to advance anyway. MLS used to have the home/away system but abandoned that. To me if half the league gets in, qualifying means very little from a regular season perspective.
  6. That's not fully accurate the way the tournament is/has been structured. There are far better qualified teams than many of the automatic bids. Even decades ago, they gave bids to those who won the conference. Even if #2 in that conference was far better than the majority of the other conferences.
  7. [Gonzaga, MVC, and former Big East schools have entered the chat]
  8. For the lack of a better place to put this, Indiana football hit a big D1 milestone this weekend:
  9. Even Frost can win 3 conference games a year. Unless he's the star recruiter and the missing piece to build accountability and a winning culture, it's likely an outside candidate will come in to take the reigns. We've gone through many different experiments over the last decade or so, there's not much room to budge this time around.
  10. Some of the downfall was bad timing, other was a network promotion strategy. I remember watching it when it was airing on TV. But this show is arguably one of the most iconic TV shows that never became popular until it was already over.
  11. Might help if Eppley can get some more airlines to fly to LA.
  12. Things are about to get real interesting:
  13. If you went for function over tradition, you'd invite the top 64 teams into the tournament. But they don't. Conference tournaments would be meaningless, but they're tradition. To advance the best team you'd make it a series, but they don't. Sure, you can make some changes, but there's a balance between inclusivity (of #15/16 seeds), tradition (conference champions automatically qualify), etc. If they're not willing to budge on some of those things, you'll never have the perfect tournament that truly invites the best teams and sets up a brackets where the best teams likely advance.
  14. Doing work for BTN [and] doing work for Nebraska?
  15. I expect post game fireside chats with Hoiberg now.
  16. I'd imagine this name will make it's rounds in the college football landscape:
  17. If I had to guess, one of the factors has to do with 1. the top teams in each of those leagues and 2. the media. Making numbers up, but say the Pac-12 has a $240M media right contract. If I was a top school in the league I'm still having to equally distribute the profits of those rights and get $20M/year. The more teams you add, the more you start to dilute that share. There are lower teams in the leagues who aren't worth $15M in additional media rights yet they're still getting a share and diluting the share for everyone else. So say they add 12 teams and renegotiate a contract for media rights worth $432M ($192M more), that top Pac-12 team now only gets $18M/year.
  18. We're probably sitting at a probability of 0.6 more wins on the season. Anything beyond 1 more win is icing on the cake for the season. That said, let's play the games and see what happens; playing with house money at this point.
  19. I'm just imagining some of the fans waking up tomorrow thinking there's a game on Saturday.
  20. 2018
  21. Seems relevant enough to put here; between potential additional adds from the Pac-12 to the Big Ten as well as other potential shifts in the landscape:
  22. THAT MANY??
